Flew to Rome on Wednesday and was delayed an hour. Flew home today and was delayed two hours. No staff anywhere in the airport. Should have left 2pm then it changed to 2.55 then 2.30 then 3. 15 then 3.
45. We were nearly an hour waiting to be boarded. I sat on the floor under an alarm which kept going off.
I had a rant at the cabin crew when I got on board and they blamed the airport. Now finally on the train home. Everyone warned me what they were like.
Lesson well and truly learnt!!!

It's Ryanair - the apology is another tenner on the bill.

I won't fly them again - we got stuck in Inverness after the flight was cancelled. No apology, no vouchers or anything - just a "next flight is in 2 days but it's full, if you go to the desk now you might get on the one in 4 days time but no guarantees - now go home"

NoelHeadbands · 12/08/2018 10:56

What a ridiculous over reaction for a two hour delay, and ranting at the cabin crew just makes you look like an arse.

TSSDNCOP · 12/08/2018 10:58

There have been delays to flights over Europe all weekend, and frankly 2 hours is nothing.

You know when you book RA it’s a bit of a gamble, which you trade for the ticket price.

Ranting at the Crew is unpardonable and makes you look like a cock.

To the pp that mentioned Jet2 above. Surely it’s impossible to be rude to their crew, they’re all absolutely lovely. I’ve never flown on flights with such friendly, charming people. We only got home yesterday, but based on their service I’m already planning to go with them again next year.

AornisHades · 12/08/2018 11:00

I agree that it sounds like you don't fly much and don't understand how routine this type of delay is. And how little point there is getting cross with the cabin crew.

Doyoumind · 12/08/2018 11:05

It's quite normal for there to be a short delay. It's the busiest time of the year and there has to be a slot to take off.

TheFaerieQueene · 12/08/2018 11:05

OP. You behaved like a dick.

PrincessoftheSea · 12/08/2018 11:06

Also agree it sounds like you don’t fly much. I fly a lot both for work and pleasure and often experience delays with all airlines, this is not specific to Ryan air and flights can be delayed for all sorts of reason. Cannot believe you ranted at the staff🙄

WickedGoodDoge · 12/08/2018 11:07

A two hour delay is nothing. Surely for that you just sit in the airport and wait patiently? Hmm

We went to Russia just over a year ago and our flight home was cancelled. We were put in a flight 11 hours EARLIER than the one originally scheduled. With our visas expiring, that was a stressful experience (hassle to get them extended). Just a couple of weeks ago, our flight to Vancouver via Toronto was delayed by five hours. Worst bit about that was the fact that we still had to go to the airport for 6:30 AM and couldn’t just stay in bed!

Two hours is annoying but not uncommon and pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things unless you need to be at your final destination for something incredibly important

m0therofdragons · 12/08/2018 11:13

2hours is nothing Hmm

Internal flight in the USA are dreadful - think 24 hours in an airport with little food options and no bed with 3 young dc and no flight for a week. We hired a car and had to drive 17 hours from New York to Wisconsin. £1600 out of pocket and insurance company finding a loop hole so had to suck it up. 2 hours in an airport is so unimportant I can't really understand why you're posting. It's a plane so I'd rather they took the time to ensure it's safe and taking off in a scheduled time that means it doesn't crash!

chuckiecheese · 12/08/2018 11:17

We were left in Trieste by Ryanair when the Volcano erupted in Iceland and no airlines could fly. They were kind enough to refund the money straight away so they covered themselves legally but told us by an A4 sign in the check in window (along with everyone else booked on that flight). Strangely there was no rep at the airport or anyone to talk with. After that we have never flown with them again. Angry

Lipsticktraces · 12/08/2018 11:20

It’s Ryanair.What do you expect?

Ranting at the poor cabin crew was very rude. It’s hardly their fault!

Madcatwoman68 · 12/08/2018 11:33

Well judging by the views on another thread concerning tips maybe the cabin crew would have appreciated being tipped after a long stressful duty.

LemonysSnicket · 12/08/2018 13:18

It happens...
The same thing happened with me on May, with BA, except it was 3 hours.
Get over it, did they get you home? If there is a fault with an aircraft, or with conditions would you rather they flew and risked you all dying?

ScrubTheDecks · 12/08/2018 16:16

LOL, I last flew with Ryan Air in June, really cheap flight (that’s why you don’t get extras, y’know).

Bloody delay!

French Air Traffic controllers on strike.

I think the buget airlines do not pay for premium treatment in the queue for a runway, or something. But again, you choose your price and take your chances.

ThenCameTheFools · 12/08/2018 16:56

Seriously rofling at blaming Ryanair for the Icelandic volcano. Perhaps try Herne Bay next time?

I fly with Ryanair when they are the most convenient/cheapest option. Never had a problem bar the odd delay (like you do when you catch aeroplanes y'know) and never felt the need to gob off at staff when that happens.

CloudCaptain · 12/08/2018 17:14

Blimey. I'm fuming at having a 3hr delay on the m20/m25 coming off a ferry. We had two preschoolers in the car and we're on a journey totalling 8hrs. Which turned to 11hrs.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 12/08/2018 17:40

I got back off holiday last week - after a 16hr 33mins flight delay.

Ner-ner-ne-ner-ner 😁.

And I didn't rant at the cabin crew. Or the reps. Airport staff were absolutely shite though, my hatred is reserved for them and them alone.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 12/08/2018 18:46

Look, I hate Ryanair as much as anyone. But in this case it doesn't seem to have been their fault, and the delay was hardly serious.

Do you not fly often? I've had similar delays with many carriers - it's not particular to Ryanair.

starzig · 12/08/2018 19:05

Delays happen when travelling. Pack a good book or game console in your hand luggage, get a coffee and relax. Stressing doesn't help anything out with you circle of control and you'll only end up up grumbling at people that dislike the situation as much as you.

Aragog · 12/08/2018 22:42

Even the strikes aren't limited to RA. It was only last year when BA were the ones striking.

Beingginger · 12/08/2018 22:54

I fly from England to Ireland all the time and I refuse to fly Ryanair, even though they fly to the nearest airport to where my family live, I fly with easyJet to a different airport 2 hours away and hire a car(which I would still need anyway to get around). Steaming pile of shite that treat their staff and customers with utter contempt.
You shouldn't have shouted at the cabin crew though, it wasn’t their fault the plane was delayed.

Leesa65 · 13/08/2018 17:57

Noted it in the paper that should not be named, that a lot of people were obviously affected by it .

Just rotten luck OP, you weren't alone.

AmIthatbloodycold · 14/08/2018 19:11

Ranted at the cabin crew. For a two hour delay. Why would you do that?

Hmm
Justanotheruser01 · 14/08/2018 19:19

Lost every bit of sympathy when you said you ranted at cabin crew. Complain down official channels or gdt over yourself.

Blobby10 · 14/08/2018 19:54

I have flown with Ryanair half a dozen times and prefer them to easyJet ! Their planes are never more than three years old , you pay for what you need and flight attendants always calm and polite even when you decline to purchase those bloody lotto cards! The only thing I don’t like about RA is the wretched fanfare they okay when they land 🤬
