Holiday weight gain

DavetheCat2001 · 11/08/2018 16:30

Ugh.. just got back from a week away and as expected have put on weight.

I'm just a bit shocked at how bloody much! Looks like nearly half a stone! Shock

I probably should weigh myself in the morning to get a truer pucture, but fuck me...!

Anyone else put on so much in a week??

For me it's been too much wine and crisps. I did go for a couple if runs, but it's never enough if you're eating crap.

Oh and too much bread.. loads more than I ever eat at home.

Back on the healthy stuff for me!

Great holiday though Grin

Ooh where did you go?

Half a stone is normal for me on holiday. Managed to maintain last time but I was very strict!! I tend to find it's mostly bloat and falls off much more easily when it's a holiday gain.

BusySittingDown · 11/08/2018 16:39

It’ll be a lot of water retention so I bet you’ll be back to normal in a few days. Smile

My sister said that she couldn’t do up her shorts at the end of the last holiday she went on 😂. That is some holiday bloat!

Crushcuz · 11/08/2018 16:58

I gained 8lb in a week Blush

Cheese, wine, bread, cheese, few beers, cheese, some nice crisps, cheese, ice cream when out, cheese......you get the picture Grin

DavetheCat2001 · 11/08/2018 17:04

I went to Menorca, purple.

We go pretty much every year with inlaws. Lovely place and highly recommended!

I ate a LOT of salty things: parma ham, nibble snacks, crisps, cheese etc. I've very much a savoury toothed person. I'm guessing that has a lot to do withy it..along with only having ONE non-booze day over the whole 9 days Blush

Crush did your 8lbs fall off fairly easily after your holiday? (she says hopefully!)

DavetheCat2001 · 11/08/2018 17:04

...I did drink gallons of water too as it was so bloody hot!

Butternutissquashed · 11/08/2018 17:06

7lb on last week! Glad it’s not only me. Pass the salad...

DavetheCat2001 · 11/08/2018 17:45

Someone tell me it will drop off as quickly as it went on....please??????

OP posts:
Crushcuz · 11/08/2018 17:57

I'm still working on it! Wink I'll hopefully get it off in the next month or so.

You're allowed to enjoy yourself on holiday anyway! I ate with no guilt clearly it's only for a week or so each year.

MrsBartlettforthewin · 11/08/2018 18:01

I did this. Put on half a stone in a week! Blush since getting back I've been on slimming world and have lost 4 pounds in a week. Grin

Just had to reset my eating habits which has been hard but it meant I got to enjoy my holiday guilt free.

BIWI · 11/08/2018 18:02

Don't worry - it's the average, apparently!

More importantly - did you have a good time?

CakeNinja · 11/08/2018 18:05

Ill let you know when I get back!
I’ve eaten less than normal due to no snacking - it’s too bloody hot to eat.
However, I have MORE than compensated with alcohol. Swings and roundabouts.

cheesefield · 11/08/2018 18:10

I gained 11lb in a week in New Orleans 🤟

DavetheCat2001 · 11/08/2018 18:49

BIWI we had a fab time!

I'm normally pretty healthy, and exercise regularly, but on holiday there is always bread/crisps/salty snacks/cheese etc about, and my FiL is a bit of a boozer so always a LOT of wine and beers available in the fridge!

I will be running tomorrow morning and OH has just got back from the supermarket stocked up with fruit, veg, tofu, salad etc etc!

Wow cheesefield...that is impressive!

I’m just not going to weigh myself as it will be shocking as well! Next few weeks will be grim as I go back to normal eating!

SchrodingersMeowth · 11/08/2018 18:57

I put on nearly a stone Confused with my last holiday, despite not really eating much more! (Mainly tube fed)

It came off in about 3 days and was all water retention. If you’ve had a lot of salt then don’t worry too much.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/08/2018 18:57

I reckon if I include the three days before I left, I will have gained about 6lb from my lowest weight. While away, it’s probably only 3. I’m pissed off though because I’ve eaten loads today too, sitting in the car in the motorway!! I ran 4 times while we were away and had no treats until weds but I’ve been due on /late all week and hormonal, which eventually got the better of me.

I’ve planned my menu out; 6 days low carb/low calorie and running every day and it will be gone, as it’s mostly water weight isn’t it with these holiday gains.

MorrisDancingViv · 11/08/2018 18:58

I always put on weight as it is not a holiday without a pina colada or two a day Grin

I once worked with a girl who was always dieting despite being slim. She went away for 2 weeks and I was really shocked at how much weight she put on. It must have been around 2 stone.

DunesOfSand · 11/08/2018 19:02

Please keep going - these numbers are making me feel better. I reckon I'm on half a stone, and still got another week in the UK. 1lb a week isn't too bad compared to some of you, but then I get stupidly long holidays!

DavetheCat2001 · 12/08/2018 08:16

Update:

Weighed myself again this morning after a wee and before my morning cuppa, and the scales are much kinder.

Appear to have lost 4lbs overnight!

I have put on about 2lbs over my holiday it seems which is far more acceptable Grin

Moral of the story: don't weigh nyself after a 2 hour flight having eaten toast/chocolate croissants and a baguette earlier in the day!

OP posts:
Babybearsporij · 12/08/2018 08:27

A lot of holiday gain is water from crisps / alcohol etc and it settles down after a couple of days. I'm usually the same! I'd rather have a good time on holiday though than worry about putting on weight.

PoptartPoptart · 12/08/2018 08:35

I once put on 16lbs in two weeks!
I stayed at an all inclusive resort and the combination of unlimited buffets, ice cream, cocktails, afternoon tea etc took its toll.

StrongerThanIThought76 · 12/08/2018 09:00

Urgh. I'm currently on holiday and have a bridesmaids dress to get into a week after we return. Today will mostly be a sensible food day!

DavetheCat2001 · 12/08/2018 10:24

I'm building up to going for a run....I can't think of anything I'd rather do less right now...

OP posts:
BusySittingDown · 12/08/2018 11:25

Did you go for a run? The hardest part of going for a run is getting out the door as they say! Grin

DavetheCat2001 · 12/08/2018 11:32

Oh my god yes I've just got back.

HIDEOUS!

Managed just over 5k but at a plod with a horrible stitch in my side.

Dripping with sweat now and ready to fall over!
