Bus stop baked goods

Just found an abandoned bakery bag with a cake in it. Undoubtedly abandoned recently, the cake is still moist. Probably purchased at a bakery nearby. No-one came back for it. A fellow bus queuer suggested it would be fine if I took it (she came along a bit after me so probably isn’t a nefarious poisoned cake-planter). It’s even my favourite kind of cake (apple chunks baked into the surface). Would you eat it?

Nope. A moist cake in my area would likely mean it'd been pissed on. By human or dog.

DixieFlatline · 04/04/2018 13:59

The bag is very dry and looked very un-manhandled until I scrunched it to carry it. It was on the seat!

No no no

Wildling · 04/04/2018 14:18

Have you eaten it?

user1487175389 · 04/04/2018 14:21

No!

Compare the unpleasantness of clearing up your own vomit later with chucking in away now and buying a fresh one. No contest.

DixieFlatline · 04/04/2018 14:22

I just got home and DH was also on the fence. Rang my mum who said eat it. So I have just sampled a small mouthful. Now I will wait for any negative effects.

I clear up vomit and poo for a job so that’s not too frightening tbh! Grin

No!
And it takes the concept of greed to a whole new level.

Springtrolls · 04/04/2018 14:25

Fuck no. Would never eat food I found.

viques · 04/04/2018 14:27

I am feeling a bit sick on your behalf OP at the thought of eating food found at a bus stop.

DixieFlatline · 04/04/2018 14:30

DH is watching and waiting for any potential symptoms before partaking. And playing a song called ‘The Doomed’ to accompany my cake eating.

Grim

Perfectly1mperfect · 04/04/2018 14:37

OMG, NO ! 😷

user1487175389 · 04/04/2018 14:37

But actually being sick when you don't have to be, when you could have avoided it? Presumably that feels as awful for you as it does for most people?

Look after yourself, OP.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 04/04/2018 14:39

WTF

ShotsFired · 04/04/2018 14:39

I once found a Christmas cake and and some other bits stuffed into a bush in my front garden snigger

Almost undoubtedly shoplifted judging by the contents.

Cake was yummy.

8SaltandVinegar · 04/04/2018 14:40

Omg. This has to be a (bad) joke.

EasterRobin · 04/04/2018 14:40

No. I mean, I'm sure it's fine. But I still wouldn't partake. Because it's, you know, erm, well I don't know why not. Superstition maybe.

DullAndOld · 04/04/2018 14:41

obviously not, and I am not even that fussy.

EasterRobin · 04/04/2018 14:41

Good luck OP. Wishing your insides continued wellness!

DixieFlatline · 04/04/2018 14:52

What remains of the cake. I started slowly then kept eating (have been assembling furniture for most of the morning and had barely eaten). DH still waiting. I feel fine apart from mild sugar overload.

So bizarre. I wouldn't have looked in the bag, let alone checked for moistness then eaten.
