I was in Irvine today

and it's still grim

but the beach at the harbourside is good

weepootleflump · 20/01/2007 20:44

By the way I totally agree about IW going off the boil - I enjoyed the 1st few books then it all just seemed to go a bit mental after that.

Wee & shosha - DH is applying to transfer to Sigs as we speak. His mate is an IT bod in Sigs and just got a Glasgow posting - dead jealous.

BBWBabeLisa · 20/01/2007 21:01

weepootleflump · 20/01/2007 21:07

Oh dear shosha - do you mean the 'home' of the corps? Or maybe you're really lucky and in Devon?

Well, as much as we moan about the place - it's got to be better than that place in Wales they're moving it to?

Aah - I remember reading LoveMyGirls thanking you for that. It's all coming together now. I probably saw your dh when they did a display here in the summer.

Are you not talking about 14 shosha? The whole school is moving to an old RAF base nearish Cardiff and will be tri-service (though won't happen for a few years yet).

can't remember it all now, can anyone else?

suzy - I love burns, wish I knew more, like his songs, will sing at burns suppers in my old age, it is an official ambition, in drawing room style if required

expatinscotland · 21/01/2007 00:27

we're having a proper burn's supper!

complete w/aberfeldy whisky for afters.

suzycreamcheese · 21/01/2007 00:29

love haggis (veggie of course!)
love burns..they made us learn it at school and i loved it..

sonsieface · 21/01/2007 00:35

a friend of ours host/organise a really good burns supper and I SO wish we could go, usually it is quite big and open to all, this year it is for "performers" only, because they have had to change venues, she said we could go IF we did a "turn", cannot get babysitters but would go otherwise, we had our first informal burns supper last week, with only the haggis being addressed, will have haggis again this week, and neep mmmmm

must go to bed, singing happy birthday to me, because it is now my birthday,

sonsieface · 21/01/2007 00:36

so expat have you got someone to pipe in the haggis?

weepootleflump · 21/01/2007 11:55

I'm going to a big formal burns supper as well and I've been asked to do the 'ladies reply' - I really need to get my finger out and start writing it.
Can't wait to see dh in a kilt (he's not scottish so never worn one before).
