Instant coffee - social suicide?

Over a number of months I've seen many threads expressing horror at the idea of drinking or serving instant coffee. So….I've become a bit paranoid. So mners - if I have a mum in for a cup of tea/coffee when they pick up their dc from my house am I committing social harakiri serving up instant coffee if they opt for that instead of tea? If I want to have or keep friends should I be brewing/grinding/working out how to use the coffee machine etc with a flourish? Confused

Once I made after dinner coffee for guests and found I didn't have enough ground coffee so supplemented it with instant. I got lots of compliments on the delicious coffee!

I got a pod machine recently (a gift) and don't have instant in any more. What I do need are lots of visitors to help drink the large number of caffeinated pods we have as I mostly drink decaf.

Milicano is ok. Fresh coffee makes me sick up a bit.

Like a pp, I hate instant coffee but love fresh. If I'm at someone's house and don't know them well enough to know their coffee habits, I'll ask for tea.

If I came to your house, OP, I'd clock the coffee machine and request coffee when you asked me. I'd then be quietly disappointed with a mug of instant, but I would never be so rude as to say anything.

Plastic filter - £1? Filter papers 100 for £1 from Tiger. Even cheaper if you have a Claus Olsen near you. Result? A lovely cup of filter coffee without a hint of limescale.

For travel I have a Bodum individual plunger - a cafetiere/travel mug. Get one - it'll change your commuting! I bought mine for a school residential trip. Well worth it, though probably works best because I drink my coffee black.
