What to call my dd's 'bits'?

No1warnedme · 04/07/2015 06:43

Posted here mainly for traffic... need answers!
We are at the stage where my dd needs (?) to have a word for her 'front bottom' (btw, I hate that term) and dh and I are not coming up with anything we like or agree on.
What do you all use? We also have a ds where we happily use willy. Just can't seem to find a similar term for girls that we want to use.
Help!

Yy madamejosephine - I can hardly imagine fanny coming from a child's mouth it's awful! I think I used it with my friends as a young teen but in any other situation it's a bit :/

Funny that words seem to be more offensive up north. DF is from the roughest part of Liverpool and swears like a sailor - but will cringe at the word twat. Im close to scotland and even 'crap' isn't-for-kids up here.

YonicScrewdriver · 04/07/2015 18:34

Dame - because then my brilliant pun wouldn't work

How on earth is calling it a vagina not letting kids be kids? Unless of course you think a vagina is dirty or shameful or somehow only for adult conversation. It's only like that if you make them think that.

Jen1610 · 04/07/2015 19:12

my girls say their part or their noon.

DrWhooves · 04/07/2015 19:14

It's a Flower in my part of the world.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 04/07/2015 19:14

Twat is strong where I am, like pussyShock

Flywheel · 04/07/2015 19:31

Fanny here. It's the equivalent to Willy imo.

Jen1610 · 04/07/2015 19:39

fanny where I am from is offensive because it's what people call others to offend. it'seems not a nice word it's like a little boy calling it his dick.

ImNotTheLadies · 04/07/2015 20:04

I'm absolutely lolling at ''noon''

NoArmaniNoPunani · 04/07/2015 20:23

Maybe she means poon, short for poontang or punani

TheImprobableGirl · 04/07/2015 20:29

Because if my four year old went trotting around saying she has a sore vagina or whatever then it sounds crude. To my ears, it does! I like a twinkle or a fairy or a foof. Not so convinced on noon because it sounds childish and because they are children there's enough chance for vaginas and vulvas and pubis' (pubi?!) when they are teenagers or adults.

And I am sure it will be cocks and cunts no doubt, let children be children. If you wish to impose adult words then rock on, do what you wish, I still will think it is ridiculous

Orangeanddemons · 04/07/2015 20:47

Some on on here once called it a 'Janet'....

emwithme · 04/07/2015 21:07

Oh god, another reason to add to the list of "I hope I have boys".

No one well, nearly no one sees anything wrong with "willy and balls" from a young age (while also teaching them that willy is really called penis etc), but there's nothing universally equivalent for girls.

I grew up with "lady/girl bits", learning the proper names later on (MUCH later on in relation to clitoris).

GatoradeMeBitch · 04/07/2015 21:23

Stacey Solomon uses 'noon. I remember from IACGMOOH 'A kangaroo's noon ?' Grin

Passmethecrisps · 04/07/2015 21:29

Vajayjay or fanjo or gina.

Generally actually gina although she seems to call it her bum which I think comes from being in child care.

YonicScrewdriver · 04/07/2015 21:30

Isn't noon from nooni? I've heard nooni suggested before.

Improbable girl, would you be equally as bothered by a four year old boy saying he'd hurt his penis?

Passmethecrisps · 04/07/2015 21:30

When I say gina - we say vagina and she says gina. I will go down the vulva/vagina route when she knows her left from her right/how to pee on the toilet.

YonicScrewdriver · 04/07/2015 21:33

Gina to rhyme with china I quite like but it has nearly the same problem as Minnie because Gina to rhyme with Tina is a real name

SallyStarbuck · 04/07/2015 21:33

Vagina, or gina as my 3yo tends to pronounce it. I normally say bits in general, but use vagina if she's sore and I want her to differentiate between her bottom or her vulva (to be technically correct)

I agree girls shouldn't grow up to have an issue around that area or the words, but it should come at stages. DD probably couldn't name thigh and calf right now and just says leg. The difference between vulva and vagina can come a bit later.

I'm not a huge fan of made up names - just this thread shows how many there are, and that could be confusing for other adults.

TheImprobableGirl · 04/07/2015 21:50

yonic I absolutely wouldn't be bothered, it Is just a personal preference on what I can and do infringe on my children whilst they are still young enough to do so! I have two dd's so penis isnt a widely used word (aside from dp getting back from a late night, and being promptly put in his place get your fucking penis out of my face etc)

But if a friend of dd was to say hurt his penis whilst in my 'custody' then of course I wouldnt scoff or cringe away, it is just a word. It is, imo, similar to refusing to give df a pack of ready salted if she asks for 'crips' Smile

TheImprobableGirl · 04/07/2015 21:51

Ahem dd, rather than df

BettyBitesBums · 04/07/2015 22:21

DD is 2 and uses voo-voo. I started saying vulva but obviously she couldn't initially say it and voo-voo has stuck. It's similar to the anatomically correct term but a childish version so perfect for us.

wigglylines · 04/07/2015 22:30

I agonised over this for ages. There isn't really an alternative for willy is there.

We've started using "girls bits" and also started using "boys bits" for older DS too to make it even, unless I specifically mean his willy.

This makes sense to me as most of the time we aren't actually referring a specific body part e.g. vulva, or willy, but the general area.

I used to say "don't forget to wash your willy" for example, but actually I meant the whole general area really. So now I say "boy bits" instead.

With DD we'll call it "girl bits" until she needs to refer to more than the general area then we'll use anomatomical terms I guess.

pissoffheadache · 04/07/2015 23:04

Fanny and Willy are what we use in our house in the Midlands

Candycoco · 04/07/2015 23:17

Fanny is like a boy saying dick. Just asked couple of family members and they agree. Would not be acceptable here Shock
