a thread for those who have had their lives ruined by the charms of one Mr Benedict Cumberbatch. Come and share with those who really understand what it's like to live with this burden.

Some classics to get us in the mood.

According to cumberbatchweb BC won't be attending the Emmys due to his filming schedule. Now while I was hoping for a bit of suit porn I'm glad to see him working and wondering could Yellow Birds be on the cards?

WallinoMio · 12/08/2014 21:59

Wait wait wait....did someone upthread say he was in Italy...?!

SugarFinney · 13/08/2014 07:36

Italy? Where in Italy? We will be in Venice from Saturday

Sudename · 13/08/2014 10:22

Sorry sugar I read he went on to Greece and is apparently back in the UK now

ColinFirthsGirth · 13/08/2014 14:58

Gosh the thought of Benedict being into hand cuffs and bondage is making me go all hot and bothered! I so so wish I could go and see him in a theatre show. The train from where I live to London is very expensive. Maybe one day .....

SugarFinney · 13/08/2014 16:17

I'm not having much luck this week what with failing to get Hamlet tickets. Did anyone else not get tickets at all, if you tried? Tbh it's probably for the best as it's difficult to get to London without DC and would be a very expensive weekend. Though he is worth it, of course.

SciFiFan · 13/08/2014 18:10

BC into bondage!! Wibble.....

Been away for a bit on my hols so here's a piccie to get me back in the swing of things Grin

Yep, I have tickets. I have red membership because I just wanted to make sure I has tickets.

There's always the £10 seats and I'm not sure if other agencies have some. Theatre breaks?

I read an article awhile back about public school boys loving the whips and chains. Hmmm. I really hope it's true that story. Apparently it's an old one though

Sudename · 13/08/2014 22:44

I'd say try again next year for tickets sugar as I'm sure some will be returned with people not able to travel etc

Don't like the new layout at all :(

FrankelandFilly · 14/08/2014 06:49

Yes the new layout is very confusing!

Sugar, did you try ATG? They still had tickets left on Tuesday, though they were odd dates in Sept and Oct.

FrankelandFilly · 14/08/2014 07:16

A

FrankelandFilly · 14/08/2014 07:16

Acco

FrankelandFilly · 14/08/2014 07:17

According to Site Stuff this is not a new layout, there's a glitch with the site so hopefully it will be fixed soon!

SugarFinney · 14/08/2014 07:43

I did look at other agencies but it was later on as we are on holiday and they seemed to be sold out too. I knew August ticket sales would be a problem. Returns are a possibility. No doubt there will be catch for the £10 tickets, you have to be a student or a member of a theatre club or something.

OnlyLovers · 14/08/2014 09:12

I'm not sure there'll be a catch like that for the £10 tickets. I suspect they'll be either queue-on-the-day tickets or there'll be something like the Barclays Front Row scheme the Donmar has, where they release tickets online every Monday morning and you fight for them. Grin

FrankelandFilly · 14/08/2014 09:38

Apparently they did a £10 ticket offer for a show last year and the tickets were only available for under £25s. Hopefully they won't be as restrictive owing to Hamlet's popularity, but yes I suspect they will be queue on the day tickets.

FrankelandFilly · 14/08/2014 09:38

That should be "under 25s", sorry about the random £!

OnlyLovers · 14/08/2014 09:49

I think there'd be riots if the tickets were age-restricted. So many people will have failed to book tickets this week and be pinning their hopes on getting them next year.

Surely the Barbican would not risk the wrath of Benedict's armies of fans of a certain age Grin

Loving the Bondagebatch fantasy. He could tie me up and whip me any day Grin!!

I wonder if they'd consider extending the run? They could sell tons of tickets. Be great to see. I really like Hamlet.

OnlyLovers · 14/08/2014 15:20

It's a long run already. But I have wondered whether the reason they put tickets on sale so early was so they could get a feel for exactly how popular it was going to be. I don't know how the theatre world works, but I'd imagine that if they know way in advance how popular something will be, it makes it easier to start trying to book the theatre and the cast for longer, etc.

Cumberlover76 · 14/08/2014 15:21

Do they usually put tickets on sale a year in advance? I've never really paid much attention to it as always managed to get tickets for things i wanted.

Cumberlover76 · 14/08/2014 15:27

there seems to be a couple of tickets available on Time Out site, but over £100 each. But just in case anyone wants....

Note sure this link will work or try here.

Good luck

OnlyLovers · 14/08/2014 15:38

No, I think a year ahead is pretty unusual. I could be wrong though.
