I'm currently obsessed with Benedict too but also Tom Hiddleston & Michael Fassbender!!! I've been writing a story, my lead male looks like Michael Fassbender (the character's name is Adam). May I joking the appreciation society?

OnlyLovers · 05/03/2014 09:10

It did make me think that apparently Eddie Redmayne is (or was, I'm not up to date) going out with his publicist...

That was funny about the niece, Frankel. She's his assistant too, isn't she? So really quite likely to be 'spotted' 'out and about' with him Grin

RiverTam · 05/03/2014 09:15

ah, now that makes sense, people at work were saying that wasn't his niece his assistant, but I didn't think that could be his niece.

I think it's lovely that he took his publicist to the ceremony with him - why not?

(PS welcome julia!)

Thanks RiverTam, i was amused by who took people to the Oscars actually, thought it was sweet that Eddie took his publicist & that mr Fassbender took his mammy!!

FrankelInFoal · 05/03/2014 09:26

He does have a much older half-sister so his niece is in her early/mid-twenties, but Caron is definitely not his niece Grin I think she does work for him too, makes sense at least you'd hope you can rely on family not to sell stories about you to the press!

OnlyLovers · 05/03/2014 09:35

Caron is definitely not his niece

Eh? No, I know that. Am I being confusing? Sorry if so. Slow morning...

juliacharles2013 · 05/03/2014 09:41

Wow!! I'm so glad to find some like minded individuals at last GrinGrin My DH thinks I'm mad but he does like Kylie Minogue whom, since I caught her on The Voice, I can't stand (that's a whole other thread though). Lol!!

RiverTam · 05/03/2014 09:42

no no, it's me who was confused, I was talking about his publicist's dress at work Blush and someone said isn't this publicist his niece, and I said I didn't think so - but if his niece works for him too it all makes sense.

juliacharles2013 · 05/03/2014 09:44

It's been quite a slow morning so maybe I'm getting a bit confused too. Lol!!

OnlyLovers · 05/03/2014 09:48

Oh, I see. Sorry all. And welcome, julia!

RiverTam · 05/03/2014 09:55

no, it's me, my sinuses are killing me, I have a cold, my brain is fried and I have the joy of looking after full-of-beans DD today, when I would far rather snuggle down with a duvet, Lemsip, and Sherlock on the telly!

FrankelInFoal · 05/03/2014 09:56

If you've never seen with Simon Pegg and Alice Eve where they talk about "the truth about Benedict" you really should watch it. I do love Simon Pegg and Alice Eve seems like she'd be a laugh Grin

Hi everyone, as I say I've been a cumber-bitch (the name I think either he or graham Norton gave his fans) since watching Sherlock & also watching him in Star Trek (I am not remotely Trekkie, my sister asked to see it for her birthday when it came out). As I said originally, my obsession also stretches to Tom Hiddleston too, I loved both of them in War Horse

juliacharles2013 · 05/03/2014 10:02

I feel your pain River, I've been suffering with the aftermath of a cold for about a week now, I'm in the snotty constant nose blowing phase (sexy, I know Wink) if much rather be having a duvet day, thankfully my 14 month old DS is napping so I'm able to relax & re-read what I've written so far for my story Smile

juliacharles2013 · 05/03/2014 10:24

I just watched that interview & I laughed so hard I was in tears "the cumbers, bumbers, wumbers!" Just made my day. Lol!! Simon Pegg is another one I'd add to my naughty list.

piratecat · 05/03/2014 11:32

it is a great interview!

i still love this one though. Benedict explains how Sherlock survived.

PeaceEagle · 05/03/2014 11:40

That was great, piratecat. I particularly enjoyed his gorgeous arms waving about in that one.

piratecat · 05/03/2014 11:44

:) i liked the wimpering Wink

FrankelInFoal · 05/03/2014 11:50

I'm going to sound like a complete twit now and I definitely don't mean it to be in anyway school-marm-ish, but BC doesn't like the term "CumberBitches", he's said in several interviews he thinks it is derogatory and "sets feminism back decades". He prefers CumberCollective or CumberPeople though lots of people have their own name for it Grin

And yes, I think having a case of the "Cumbers Bumbers Wumbers" should be a medically recognised condition Grin

As far as I know, Caron/Karon is his publicist, his niece is his PA.

juliacharles2013 · 05/03/2014 12:11

Thanks for clarifying on the fan name front, I must have misheard xx

Cumberlover76 · 05/03/2014 13:22

yes, piratecat the whimpering Grin

Cumberlover76 · 05/03/2014 13:28

It shows how many of us are getting Cumberbatched and how much we witter on about it, in that this thread has got to 24 pages in 3 weeks, the previous thread took 6 months to get that far! The rate we are going we will need another new thread by the end of April! The last one took 9 months to fill up.

Twit · 05/03/2014 13:59

To me they have taken a traditionally derogatory word used against women and have changed its meaning and made it their own. Fair enough I think.
I do understand why he might feel uncomfortable about it though, but telling women what they can or can't call themselves isn't terribly feminist is it?
Perhaps he can just say he doesn't feel comfortable referring to his female fans (I guess) as bitches (which is fine) but he has no objection to them calling themselves bitches (which is also fine).

NeedsAGreenCardForFantasyLand · 05/03/2014 14:13

Straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

And , this time as video.

God, I should be doing something else right now. Damn my Type A personality!!
