I am so thick, I have JUST got the thread title. I think I hadn't read it properly before so I missed the joke of Chateau Gizzy being the name of our commune building. Very clever, Spiro - I love it :o

Sorry I disappeared and failed to answer my own question (Gizzy himself, if you're wondering!!! )

Went for a quick bath and started reading this (3 years late admittedly) and got out an hour and a half and about a third of the way through!

Is it any good? I must be the only person in the country who hasn't read it.

It's brilliant so far - a friend at work lent it to me. It's great on it's own account but also useful research for something I'm planning to write so two birds with one stone.

Well, I've fuinished my hot choclate so it's time for me to go to ebd. I found something in the Bibliotheque de Bing earlier and thought you might like it, Spiro.
