Well, it's about time.

Oh Vampy thnk nothing of it, if you can't let down your hair with friends, where can you? Please do let it all out, as much as you want.

DumSpiroSpero · 28/11/2011 23:00

Sounds like a good plan Vampy.

It's 'nice' (you know what I mean) that your MIL has been able to have some input into the planning. If you need any help with finding suitable readings let me know, although I'm sure you've got lots of personal stuff in mind already.

Can hear Mr S on the move and log day tomorrow, so it's lights out for me.

Sweet dReAms!

::Staggers back in::

Oh Vampy. That is so sad but I guess the Colonel's right and it may be as well to give him a day or two to see how things are, as a sort of reconnaissance ::realises that watching JP vids has not taught her much military terminology:: It's a bizarre thing to have to think of, but my friend had a wicker coffin woven with ivy - she wanted a pagan ceremony but bowed to what she thought her family would need, so had a Christian ceremony and a pagan coffin - which was absolutely beautiful.

I have been out at the thee-ay-ter, playing Six Degrees of SepaRAtion. And here is a tReAt I unearthed late last night so saved until today. .

LadyDamerel · 28/11/2011 23:11

I completely agree with Massive, Vampy. Apart from worrying about logistics and the Colonel, how are you in yourself? Are the HPs still doing their job properly? Your current plan sounds like a good one and it sounds as though you could scoot over to London at fairly short notice if necessary.

I asked about BIL because all four of my GPs hung on until they had seen all the family before they finally 'let go'.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/11/2011 23:15

Yes, my MiL did that too. She knew The Bloke was driving like Lewis Hamilton to get there and she kept going until he did.

SupermassiveLBD · 28/11/2011 23:19

So which remote connection was it this time Maud?

That vid was made for you and me, methinks. the lyrics fit less than the title. though.

Bitey Knight, Spiro. Hope your dReAms are sweet.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/11/2011 23:26

Sweet dreams, Spiro!

Remote connection? How very dare you! This was a one man show by my friend who, when he wrote a panto, got his actor friends to come in to read it. As you do. So, in this play-reading, the Dame was played by Gandalf. I hardly think that's remote. Harrumph.

::I move in all the best circles emoticon::

I agree the song and vid aren't very well-matched, but Kate Rusby is my latest musical discovery and so naturally I had to see what there was of her work in the Almanack de YouTube.

SupermassiveLBD · 28/11/2011 23:31

She does have an interesting diction. There seems to be a fashion of eschewing the American accents when singing, now.

I'm thinking Lily Allen, f'instance --

Is Gandalf back on these shores? Last I heard, he was chatting up a certain dwarf of our acquaintance.

LadyDamerel · 28/11/2011 23:31

Confused So was Gandalf there tonight?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/11/2011 23:38

Nah, I was trying to explain that Gandalf is a friend of my friend. He is very well-connected in the thee-ay-ter. At a show of his a few years ago I was personally abused from the stage by Graham Norton. ::Those were the days emoticon:: Tonight's, though, was a one-man show.

SupermassiveLBD · 28/11/2011 23:42

I was personally abused from the stage by Graham Norton
Oh my goodness, we do move in the very best circles.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/11/2011 23:44

Exactly. I don't think you appreciate how terribly grand and important I am.

SupermassiveLBD · 28/11/2011 23:46

Oh, I do, Maud. I most certainly do. Got any RA molecules left?

LadyDamerel · 28/11/2011 23:47

Very Envy of the Graham Norton abuse. I lurve GN (although not in a LoL way, just in a take-him-down-the-pub-and-laugh-all-night way; I want him to be my GBF).

So no Gandalf tonight, that was another night, yes?

Although Gandalf is a friend of the friend you saw tonight?

Or a friend of another friend from the Night You Saw Gandalf?

I think I need to go to bed.

See you tomorrow when I have hopefully retrieved my ability to follow a conversation from whence it has fled.

SupermassiveLBD · 28/11/2011 23:49

Bitey knight, LadyD, golden slumbers kiss your eyes.

LadyDamerel · 28/11/2011 23:54

::looks back at you::

I'd rather it was Gizzy doing the kissing and not just on my eyes. That would make my post coital slumbers exceedingly golden.

::legs it upstairs before Maud has time to prime the facepalm::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/11/2011 23:55

::Exhales over thread, thus providing an alluring mixture of RA molecules, BC molecules and chicken jalfrezi::

::Explains it all again for LadyD as it is late::

I went to a one-man show. The show was my friend's show and was brilliant. My friend has been in show biz for 30 years and knows a lot of people so, when he wrote a panto, he got his actor friends to do the read-through. One of those friends was Gandalf, but Gandalf was not there tonight because it was a one-man show and Gandalf is otherwise detained. At a previous show, I was abused from the stage by Graham Norton and at the show before that (which tragically I missed) Gandalf did the warm-up.

::Fervently hoping friend doesn't stray into MN and recognise himself::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/11/2011 23:58

Mr Thornton is too busy dealing the cards for a lively game of canasta to offer us his legendary facepalm,

SupermassiveLBD · 29/11/2011 00:00

Is he a mum, then, Maud? Thought not. So you are safe, Q.E.D.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 29/11/2011 00:04

That last part is no doubt true, Massive, but if you ever venture onto other threads you will see that there are quite a few MNers who are not mums and ::gasp:: not even laydees. By which I mean that they are gentlemen, not that they are strumpets like you lot.

SupermassiveLBD · 29/11/2011 00:17

Meanwhile MN got broke. i didn't do it, honest guv.

I think i'd better call it a bitey knight

Sweet dreams , mums, gemplemums and strumpets all.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 29/11/2011 00:31

Yup. I have finished all my Terribly Important Admin and must go to bed. See you all on the morrow!

VictorianChristmasVamp · 29/11/2011 06:52

MoRning All!!

Maud I've always said that I get the feeling you are fabulously well-connected!!Grin. I too lurrve GN but in a purely GBF-type way!

Massive Maud speaks the truth there are all sorts out there beyond the doors of the academy most of whom terrify me! It's a scary place MN sometimes!!

Thanks all again for support. Means the world to me - wonder whether whatever powers to be you believe in brought me back to the thread at this time in my life?Confused. woah that's far too deep for this early in the morning!!Smile

BIL is last she needs to see but more important even is the new grandson none of us have met so far who was born earlier this year. I did hope she would keep going until after our reunion weekend planned for the 10th but when I saw her she just seemed to have no fight in her and was just waiting to dieSad. But from the sounds of it now her quality of life is minimal so you have to hope it won't be long now for her sake.

I'm fine in myself to be honest. Deal with big things like this better than the small things in life like a broken down car or leaking pipes! I don't think it has totally sunk in and feel it isn't happening IYKWIM? Just want to stay home with my babies and get on enjoying my favourite time of the year. Sad.

Right I started this at 6am and got side-tracked tried to use a different word to distracted and look I found one just as connected!Grin

Smile
VictorianChristmasVamp · 29/11/2011 06:55

Hmm seem to have forgotten how commas work or indeed of their existence! Hope that all makes some sense and under no circumstances do I think of you as massive Maud.ConfusedHmm. I obviously meant Massive, Maud is correct.

Arghhhh. Time to go I'm waffling incoherently!!ConfusedSmile
