I suppose if I keep it long enough, it'll turn into valuable antiques.

TheSmallBloodiedFingerPrint · 23/10/2011 17:02

Ooooh I love a bit of Mr Diamond, he has such a soulful voice.

When you've finished at your Massive, can you start on mine please?

SupermenacingLBD · 23/10/2011 17:22

I think they will finish painting the Forth Bridge before I finish de-cluttering, Small Grin

pARGHssTheTwiglets · 23/10/2011 17:41

It was Vampy wot woz asking about Operation Declutter, not me. But whilst we're on the subject, I think you are making a fatal mistake by letting MrM know what's being chucked :)

Although am decluttered, am overwhelmed by the state of the house (DIY-wise) and have only just realised that I need to apply the 'one room at a time' rule with that too. Bit of a result though - I said to DrTwigs that I wanted some time off once TwigBoy goes to school and asked what he thought about me taking 6 months before looking for a job, so that we could get the house sorted and he was up for it, woohoo! He didn't asnwer my "and what about a year instead of 6 months?" question that followed imminently but I'll work on that one at the time :o

DumSpiroScaro · 23/10/2011 17:43

Will catch up on vids later, but another Mr D fan here.

My mum and dad have just got rid of their humongous 70's G-Plan unit in the sitting room, and I have managed to salvage a few vinyl treasures and bring them home with me: Carpenters, Jack Jones does Bread and the Bert Kampfert Christmas Album!

How goes the Mojito Cake, Twigs?

Am desperate to hear your verdict as have friend coming over next Saturday for a Halloween get together. Once we've got the kids settled with a dvd upstairs am going to do grown up food and lots of drinkies. Mojito cake sounds perfect for pud!

They are certainly finding some interesting artefacts menace but I'm not convinced its worth the stress and hassle. Clearing sooner rather than later and keeping the best is the way forward. Smile

DumSpiroScaro · 23/10/2011 17:50

Twigs - you'll just have to do a deliberate go-slow on the DIY! Wink

OP posts:
SupermenacingLBD · 23/10/2011 17:53

Sorry about mixing you up with Vampy, Twigs. Even the thought of it all is discombobulating me, you see.

Oh, Bert Kampfert! Haut Fromage at its very best. I luurve Swinging Safari!

DumSpiroScaro · 23/10/2011 17:54

The sound of my childhood Christmasses Grin!

Sorry got distracted and forgot to press send on the last message - it was directed at massive's antiques comment!

Yes twigs how is the cake? Very tempted to try it!!Grin

BB in a mo can't remember what i was going to say!

TransylvanianVampiress · 23/10/2011 17:57

Ah yes. Massive - too late they have made a paint that doesn't wear so no they no longer need to paint the forth road bridge!! Weird seeing it without scaffolding!!Grin

And twigs I was about to say - take your time getting the house to perfection!Grin. Lucky you getting at least 6 months off - you could go with the home schooling option and take 18 more years off!!Wink

TheSmallBloodiedFingerPrint · 23/10/2011 17:57
is the sound of my Christmasses Spiro, we still get it out every year!! I loved this album.
SupermenacingLBD · 23/10/2011 18:01

Oh, Small, bless you! i had quite forgotten Pinky and Perky!

TransylvanianVampiress · 23/10/2011 18:15

In a quiet room with colonel - cant listen to these links!! It's like over hearing part of a conversation and being desperate to know the full story!!EnvyGrin

I have no childhood Christmas song memories Sad. Always had Christmas in foreign mountains for nearly 30 years!! So can't complain!Grin

BTW just realised that I never got back to you twigs about your past career! Very exciting sounding!! Was it fun? Sometimes I wish I'd done more than drugs in my earlier career!!Grin

ComeIntoTheSinisterGardenMaud · 23/10/2011 18:37

This was ::cough:: slightly after my childhood, .

pARGHssTheTwiglets · 23/10/2011 18:41

Haut Fromage :o

Mojito cake - yummy but not incredibly so. It's fun, more than anything else. It's bascially a lemon drizzle cake but with mint icing. The top half of the cake was DIVINE, but for some reason the syrup didn't sink much further down into the rest of the cake so the bottom half of it was just a normal sponge cake.

:o @ deliberate go slow

RP, I came veeeeery close to homeschooling MissTwigs in the past but luckily she's happy there now. It's something that I think I will look back on in years to come and think I should've tried that but hey ho. My job was fun, yes - but like any job I got quite bored with it towards the end of my time there and I was really glad to leave when it was time for the whole baby thing.

TransylvanianVampiress · 23/10/2011 19:06

Was it alcoholic though twigs?Hmm think I may be in need of escape!

Just found out my darling ma has just explained the full facts of life to both DD and 4 year old DS! Now DD actually already knows the complete basic facts that's it but ma was adding details such as it feels really nice I mean WTF!! at least I now know why I'm so screwed up!!Confused And 4 year old DS really doesn't need to full information just yet I don't think! To be fair in answer to DD's question of "so you just do it when you want a baby?" Ma apparently replied "well you have to love the father very much and want to spend rest of life with them and have a family with them" - but way too much emotional detail for a 7 year old I think!Hmm

What your views? Am i being a bit over protective/prudish?!ConfusedHmm

Confused need a manly PSM To take me away from all this madness!!HmmConfusedWineWineWineWineWine[alcoholic cake!]Grin

SupermenacingLBD · 23/10/2011 19:23

Oh Vampy, who would have parents? Philip Larkin was so right.

pARGHssTheTwiglets · 23/10/2011 19:23

It was alcoholic, yes, but not massively so. Think it was about 5 tablespoons of rum, all told.

I'm not sure about the thing with your mum - on the one hand I think that 7 is old enough to know but on the other hand, it is absolutely not your mum's place to tell them!! I would be annoyed too. She shouldn't tell them things like that without checking with you first. And I wouldn't have told a 4 year old unless they specifically asked, definitely not! I agree about it being a bit much to tell them "it feels really nice" (for one thing - does it? it's been so long, I've forgotten :o). I told MissTwigs about it all ages ago but just stuck to the mechanical basics!

SupermenacingLBD · 23/10/2011 19:28

I have to admit I was a coward and left it to MrM.

Twigs, ROFL @ does it really?

Re the cake, maybe you needed more than 5 tablespoons for it to sink right to the bottom Grin

TransylvanianVampiress · 23/10/2011 19:31

Thanks for the fizzy gizzy - can I have the namesake in person too please?!

I agree 7 is ok to know mechanical facts - DD has known them a while but it was the added extras I think upset the colonel more who overheard it! I would rather they learnt from me as I have been slightly psychologically scarred from similar conversations with my mother as a child!!Blush And know DS wasn't asking he was just reading the body book with them wanting to know about the soldiers in our body who attacks the germ armies!!Grin

Have you see what teas daly is wearing or more accurately not wearing on strictly!!ShockGrin

DumSpiroScaro · 23/10/2011 19:34

Not done The Talk yet with Miss S (tbh I wish she'd ask as I'm desperate to get it out of the way). I would be fuming if my mum did that - thankfully it seems to be one of very few things she has seen fit to draw the line at!

OP posts:
TransylvanianVampiress · 23/10/2011 19:36

I think the "it feels really nice"" just ConfusedHmm me as she's my mother - she doesn't do that sort of thing!! All 4 of us were immaculate conceptions!!!Grin

TransylvanianVampiress · 23/10/2011 19:37

Send her here miss S - free sex advice being given out willy nilly!ConfusedHmmGrin
