I am taking advantage of being 7 hours behind GMT to start this week's new blog posts :)

Starting with my comforting, yet decadent Chunky Vegetable Chili with Dark Chocolate

Perfect for a chilly autum evening meal and it was a huge hit with both the adults and the kid in my house. I hope you all enjoy it as well.

Looking forward to your blog posts everyone!

Going to catch up on all these later. I haven't written anything all week which I'm going to blame on an ill 2 year old! No doubt there will be a ranty post later when we're back from the Dr's!

Angel786 · 21/10/2011 09:16

Hope they feel better soon tiaras

I may have gone off on a tangent and deviated slightly from what the post started off being about!

And Mme I'm a few chapters in to Blood Sisters and really enjoying it Grin

TiarasTimeOutsAndTantrums · 21/10/2011 09:33

And thank you Angel. I hope he does too. Got doctors at 12 so hopefully will get some antibiotics and he will start feeling better.

ScaredTEECat · 21/10/2011 09:34

Hi everyone.

Sorry not been around but have barely blogged this week!

We're in the new house just in time for a never ending bout of D&V in my 2 year old and I.am.shattered!

Saw the GP yesterday and said 2 year old has an ear infection which is probably adding to the D&V.

I'll try to get caught up next week! ::waves to all the new people!::

FlamingoBingo · 21/10/2011 10:38

Hello :)

Today have posted about importance of empathy in understanding and helping children.

SallyDon · 21/10/2011 10:45

After the previous rantathon, something more positive - seven ways in which adopting children has made me a better person.

Think I need to go an have a lie down. Wine

MmeGuillotine · 21/10/2011 12:10

Tiaras, hurray! Really glad you are liking it! Publishing books is so nerve wracking and I get to go through the whole thing again later this year when the next one comes out... :S

SouthernandCross · 21/10/2011 12:25

Big excitement in my world- this is as rock and roll as my life gets these days.

Trills · 21/10/2011 13:16

Hello everyone.

Haven't read through but the chilli in the first post looks yummy.

SallyDon · 21/10/2011 13:41

Anyone catch the end of The World At One on Radio 4? Journo very rude about Mumsnet bloggers. Apparently we copy the speech patterns of teenage girls.
How very dare him.

PetiteRaleuse · 21/10/2011 13:43

Ooh have they been reading our responses to MmeG's blogs yesterday?

Shall listen on iPlayer.

MmeGuillotine · 21/10/2011 13:50

Ooh, report back please Petite! Does he mean on here or on our blogs, I wonder? :)

PetiteRaleuse · 21/10/2011 13:53

It's not available yet. Sally do you have any more on what they said?

TiarasTimeOutsAndTantrums · 21/10/2011 14:01

If I speak like a teenage girl in my defence it was only 3 years ago I was one!

Innit Grin

SallyDon · 21/10/2011 14:16

He meant in our blogs I think. He was mocking David Cameron for using these types of speech patterns and then in the next breath mentioned us. The journalists name was something like John Rentle. It was in the final 2 mins of the broadcast.

Can't find him or the programme on twitter. Idiot.

PetiteRaleuse · 21/10/2011 14:20

It's still not up on the iPlayer.
I assume it's part of the Moch MN thing that is fashionable at the moment.

Whatever. Grin

Shall listen carefully and tell you all what he said exactly then we can hunt him down on twitter / by email and make him apologise collectively tut and feel sorry on him for missing out.

ShirleyKnot · 21/10/2011 14:20

HOORAY! Thanks for the plug there you silly journo!

MmeGuillotine · 21/10/2011 14:21

How weird. Although, to be honest, I don't think I know what a teenage girl talks like - I tend to avoid them, you see in case they ask me to go into off licenses for them or whatever it is that teenage girls do these days. ;)

Actually, now that I have thought about it a bit more (difficult as I am Not Well), I'm more peeved that he likened us in any way to Dave Cameron than anything else.

PetiteRaleuse · 21/10/2011 14:34

Yes MmeG I would agree with you there. Which is why I have to listen. But it's still not available.

Hope you feel better soon.

MmeGuillotine · 21/10/2011 14:53

Thank you! I hope this doesn't lure mad Tory sorts to our blogs - I have had enough flaming this week after the guy who called me a 'hipster' because of what he saw as my 'I was into the Tudors ages ago when no one had ever heard of them but I've gone off them now they've gone all MAINSTREAM and lost their edge' stance. ;)

PetiteRaleuse · 21/10/2011 15:08

That's funny. The Tudors were ever edgy?

OK - John Rentel was talking about how the PM and MPs in general are really irritating and use clichés, or are just irritating because, well, they are irritating.

There was an extract from Dave's speech (not sure what he said as I switch off when I hear his voice) but it finished "Hello? Ed?" In a kind of "der" style. Rental said:

"Copying speech patterns of teenage girls, or of Mumsnet Bloggers copying the speech patterns of teenage girls is not very primeministerial. Newt he'll be saying 'The Labour Party? OMG. FFS. Whatevs.' "

ooh well now we have been mentioned on Radio Four I think we have made it.

Trills · 21/10/2011 15:11

That's not talking like a teenage girl. Not a 2011 teenage girl anyway. It may be that he is talking like a teenager form 1997...

Continuing the quest for the perfect poached egg

PetiteRaleuse · 21/10/2011 15:13

Which would make sense.

Trills you might find this interesting if you haven't already seen it: www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/wordofmouth/2010/sep/16/how-make-perfect-poached-egg?INTCMP=SRCH

Though I still can't make one have tried everything too
