Good morning. I have started the week with a rant about getting old before my time here

This weekly series of threads has been great for my blog. Great for hits, great for feedback and great networking and discovery of other blogs. So don't just post and run, try and take a moment to look through what we've all got to offer. There's so much variety and great writing on here.

Also, this week is the MN week for their Miscarriage Code of Care Campaign. MmeLindor has been co-ordinating the blogging side of this so will be able to remind us how we can get involved if we wish.

Toomuchtea pony books is not a trivial subject. They were the basis of my childhood literature during my post Enid Blyton years

Good point the first few chapters of JE are good - the bits during her yoof.

Ah, now, I think I'd have to behead anyone who gave less than five stars to Molesworth! :)

I don't like Wuthering Heights but I can see the appeal. Possibly. There's just far too much teeth gnashing and misdirected angst for my tastes. Also the characters are totally fatiguing. Imagine if you knew them in real life and had to endure their interminable Facebook updates? The relationship changes alone would be enough to give one a headache and you can tell that Cathy would be a duck face pouter in her photos.

Your book sounds really interesting! :)

MmeGuillotine · 13/10/2011 11:24

Haha, yes, clearly very strange tastes! I liked Eat, Pray, Love (not the film though, which was a ghastly mess of faux feminism and a grotesque inability to eat spaghetti in an orderly fashion) so don't mind being lumped in with it. :)

Yes, the early bit of Jane Eyre was okay. It went rapidly downhill though with even more teeth gnashing misery.

PetiteRaleuse · 13/10/2011 11:28

Ah you see I haven't read the book. I have just unsuccessfully tried to avoid the film.

Naughty me judging a book by its film cover Shock I don't normally do that but this one really did get to me.

Which film? Eat, Pray, Love or is this an admission about Jane Eyre?! ;O

TiarasTimeOutsAndTantrums · 13/10/2011 11:33

MmeGuillotine I just brought/bought (never sure Blush) Blood Sisters for my kindle so will start that tonight Smile

MmeGuillotine · 13/10/2011 11:37

Yay, thank you so much! I really hope you like it and don't hate it as much as the One Star Lady! ;D

TiarasTimeOutsAndTantrums · 13/10/2011 11:38

My taste is rather varied I am currently reading the new Philippa Gregory so I should like it!

TiarasTimeOutsAndTantrums · 13/10/2011 11:40

And I always assume 1 star reviewers are jealous failed writers anyway who didn't have the guts to self publish.

MmeGuillotine · 13/10/2011 11:41

Ooh. I got sent the new Philippa Gregory but couldn't get into it, alas. How are you finding it? :)

MmeGuillotine · 13/10/2011 11:43

Haha, thank you! I have to say that even if I really hate a book, I will generally give it no less than two stars, especially as I don't leave a review to go with it. I'm hoping that the fact that the other 1 star books are massive bestsellers that were turned into films is a good omen for me! ;D

PetiteRaleuse · 13/10/2011 11:43

Eat Love Pray.

I think the only Jane Eyre adaptation I have endured was with Charlotte Gainsbourg.

I like Philippa Gregory. Not got the new one as am still stuck on the White Queen - the first in the trilogy. Haven't been able to get into it.

I've left two one star reviews and I'm not a jealous failed writer only because I haven't started my book yet.

It's slower than the Tudor court ones but I'm struggling with the idea that Jacquetta was magic! And i seem to have so much to get done lately I can't get stuck into it. I'm hoping the more coffee, less sleep approach may help Grin

MmeLindor. · 13/10/2011 11:55

MmeG
You MUST do a blog post on Wuthering Heights in modern day FB format. That would be sooooo funny.

PetiteRaleuse · 13/10/2011 11:59

That poor dog Toomuchtea

I didn't really buy them for my daughter. I bought them for myself, in the hope that my daughter will share my enthusiasm for them later.

But they are mine all mine. She will be able to borrow them later and if she's lucky they'll still be in one piece when she inherits.

That's how attached to those stories I am.

morning all.

I have blogged about

\link{http://attheheartoftheopinion.blogspot.com/2011/10/ios5-good-bad-and-general-view.html\my view of iOS5}

slightly different to my normal blogging style but...

SouthernandCross · 13/10/2011 13:07

I've blogged about my traumatic experience with a sports bra

travelswithbear · 13/10/2011 14:12

About the one star review: I would feel VERY offended on a personal level. On a rationale level, I wouldn't give two hoots (although I'd be upset about having anything in common with the Da Vinci Code). You've already listed all the reasons why it shouldn't matter Grin.

I enjoyed the book Eat, Pray, Love, but the film was horrific. I couldn't watch it to the end. I lived in Italy, and unsuitable men and far too much food featured highly. I just didn't do the yoga retreat or Brazilian hotty in my personal version Wink.

I blogged about travelling by train avec baby. I know my blog is quite specific to parents of very small children, and probably not that relevant to many of you, but I find posting here helps to make me keep blogging!

Angel786 · 13/10/2011 14:43

TWB I commented (Original mama k) - interesting post to me Smile

MmeLindor. · 13/10/2011 14:53

Oh, Wannabe inspired me to do another blog post (don't normally do this many a day, but the two this morning where the campaign stuff).

Floating on the iCloud

MmeGuillotine · 13/10/2011 15:02

I may have to write about Wuthering Heights on my blog and also my loathing of the Brontë sisters.

I'm fine about the review now - it happens to all writers at some point so might as well ignore it! Even if I am considered to be as bad as the Da Vinci Code... humphs
