WARNING

Don't forget your hard hat, hi-viz gear and parachute. We lost a careless vice-principal this way only last year.

I love churches from an architrectural point of view but that's all. I get all twitchy at the amount of money spent on them... (though this is largely in the ones I've been to in Venice, I haven't been to many in this country).

PassTheTwiglets · 13/11/2011 20:41

That's the new way of spelling architectural, btw.... ahem...

DumSpiroSpero · 13/11/2011 20:42

It is difficult Lady D. My wibble started when our friends lost their 6 yo son to leukaemia 2 years ago.

It is very hard to reconcile that with and all-loving God and I just felt incredibly angry with 'Him', but equally I can't imagine not believing at all.

Our friends have gone on to run a charity providing holidays for children with life-limiting illnesses and now have a beautiful, healthy 9 month old daughter - I guess that's what they mean about God moving in mysterious ways, although I can't even begin to compute how anyone could go through that and make sense of it in a religious context.

TransylvanianVampiress · 13/11/2011 20:48

Death, war, famine, natural disasters are always hard to reconcile I find. But then I suppose it comes down to your belief of Satan and Hell and the gift of Free Will which all Christians are blessed with apparently. phew apparently protected that preposition!! Grin

Tis a huge subject which I'm ny very well versed in. I personally believe it is really personal and no-one should judge anyone else on the basis of their faith!

Having said that I'm about to! And yes Lady D many regular Church goers are not what I consider the best Christians I've come across. Think middle-class Christians have too easy a life sometimes and can come across as a bit self-centric within their happy, safe Church parish bubble!

Help hope I'm explaining myself okConfused. As I said it's all my personal feelingsConfused

What do they say? Never discuss politics and religion??
So who did you all vote for then?!Grin

LadyDamerel · 13/11/2011 20:48

MIL completely lost her faith after BIL died. I know the vicar (who they were/are very close friends with) talked with her a lot but I don't think she could find it in herself to believe any more.

On a slightly different note, I wonder how Maud is getting on with Nicholas Higgins...

TransylvanianVampiress · 13/11/2011 20:51

I think that's it Spiro - God works in mysterious ways and it is hard to see what His plan is sometimes! I certainly have wobbles about it all from time to time but I know it is very important to me. I couldn't have got through the Colonel's active duty tours without my little chats with God!Grin

TransylvanianVampiress · 13/11/2011 20:52

Ooh yes. Do you think she's quizzing him on his previous co-stars? Or getting autographs for us all?Wink

TransylvanianVampiress · 13/11/2011 20:58

Oooh!! I'm off to cheer myself up with SB porter in HD!!Grin

DumSpiroSpero · 13/11/2011 20:59

or seeing if he has The Man's phone number handy?

Also on a lighter note - have you been playing away under a pseudonym, Massive last post on page 2!

Would make an interesting change from black leather! Grin

TheSmallPrint · 13/11/2011 21:02

Evening all, thank you for your SB well wishes, I won't pass them on as his head is big enough today!

We are not a very religious household despite me growing ip in one. The SBs are baptised in my faith (DH is different faith) but we are not really church goers other than special occasions or religious ceremonies for family members. Saying that I do have faith but it is heavily mixed with a dose of reality so I suppose I could be considered a bit Confused. I try to be honest with my boys about religion and explain that some people believe and others don't.

I must have really crap taste because I really like Persuasion but agree that Anne is a bit annoying and it's very hard to imagine Captain Wentworth liking her as she is played.

LadyDamerel · 13/11/2011 21:07

I have a fantastic mental image of Maud pinning Nicholas to the wall by his throat and demanding the Man phone number with menaces, all in the most genteel way, obviously.

Spiro, you'll know the answer to this. Is Hugh in SB really a baddie and is he trying to get JP killed, or is he just an incompetent fool?

TheSmallPrint · 13/11/2011 21:10

Can't tell you Lady D or well have to kill you!

TransylvanianVampiress · 13/11/2011 21:13

Which one's Hugh?

And woah the twiglets are on mighty fine form this evening!!

And he needs a different modi operandi than getting himself caught on purpose!! It's getting a bit predictable!!Grin

But he's still utterly gorgeous so that's all with which I'm really concerned! Grin

LadyDamerel · 13/11/2011 21:16

Pleeeeease tell me. 1) I'm hopeless at following plots wrt who's good and who's bad (this may be partially due to MNing while watching!) and 2) I don't like surprises.

Please?

If you don't I'll start on the mulled white wine and start molesting you like I did poor Massive on Friday.

::looks threateningly at bottle of Sauvignon Blanc::

DumSpiroSpero · 13/11/2011 21:16

Hugh is a huuuuge baddie of the highest order as you will soon discover.

DumSpiroSpero · 13/11/2011 21:19

Although he does sort of redeem himself at the end.

You'll see why those of us who watched it last year were so Angry at Season 2 though.

LadyDamerel · 13/11/2011 21:24

The Andrew Lincoln character, Vampy. The one who killed the other British soldiers in ep.1 but hasn't confessed it to JP, although JP knows. He's the one in charge of all of JP's missions but seems to be deliberately putting him in danger.

SupermassiveLBD · 13/11/2011 21:24

ROFL @ Knights in white satin. What a picture that throws up. Grin

Nothing to do with little me, though.

LadyDamerel · 13/11/2011 21:27

Thank you Spiro, you are officially my Bestest friend in here Grin.

I'm trying to banish the image of Gizzy swathed in a white satin babydoll nightie, if I'm honest!

TransylvanianVampiress · 13/11/2011 21:29

Just worked that out by actually listening to the character names!!Grin. That US attaché US accent is appalling!! But oh my JP!! I just can't keep my eyes off his eyes!! And his voice!!! Wibbly wibble!Grin

TheSmallPrint · 13/11/2011 21:30

Spiro!! I was enjoying teasing Lady D there, you have spoilt my fun!

Wink
TransylvanianVampiress · 13/11/2011 21:30

I couldn't click on that link but knights in white satin I'm intrigued by? Although I prefer mine leather-clad I think!Grin

TransylvanianVampiress · 13/11/2011 21:31

I'll sulk with you Smalllio cos I'm not Lady D's bestest friend!! Grin

SupermassiveLBD · 13/11/2011 21:31

Lady D, I was thinking more of a Las Vegas period Elvis outfit, and I suppose that is bad enough. Either that or Speedos.

OP posts:
LadyDamerel · 13/11/2011 21:33

I wonder if the non-Gizzy proof Neutronium SFX's will be JP-proof? The half naked, strapped to the posts bit is coming up I think.
