Not entirely tasteful, but it's what we all hoped really isn't it?

LOL @ me misunderstanding BBS! Oh dear, what a giveaway :o In my defence, I thought it was to do with Spiro's comment about the zoom... :)

He looks to me as if he's waiting for a jolly sight more than that, Twigster

:o

Good spot, LadyD. I have those on DVD though, they need to pout on something that I haven't seen but wouldn't bother paying for yet like the George Gently things...

Dinner is ready. BBS :)

PassTheTwiglets · 17/09/2011 20:48

put on something, not pout!

LadyDamerel · 17/09/2011 20:51

I haven't ever seen the Cold Feet episodes so they're going on to record on the Sky+. VoD I have on DVD (except it's getting a bit worn out Blush) but I daresay I'll end up watching it.

Do you not get those channels on the Island, Massive? Do you want to come and stay next week? We could go shopping in Manchester during the days and have a Man-fest with Chateau Gizzy in the evenings.

I'll even make cake......

LadyDamerel · 17/09/2011 21:42

Is anyone else watching Stephen Fry and silently screaming "Shut up about the languages and just tell us what it's like on the Hobbit set and what Richard Armitage is up to"?

Does he not realise the absolute dearth of infomation about the Man at this present moment? Does he not realise we will fall on the smallest crumb? No he does not.

SupermassiveLBD · 17/09/2011 21:45

We do not get those channels unfortunately, LadyD Sad just CNN, BBC World and BBC Entertainment, in English.

Your invite sounds perfect, shopping days and Man-fest evenings - with cake! I dread to think of poor LordD's reaction, though. Grin

LadyDamerel · 17/09/2011 21:50

I'll get his PA to book in a week's worth of meetings in London Grin.

PassTheTwiglets · 17/09/2011 21:52

Well we know where Smallio has gone tonight then. She said she was going round to a friend's but I'm watching Jonathan Ross and when he said to Hugh Jackman "I wouldn't catch you", a woman in the audience shouted out "I would!" Going round to a friend's, my arse...

LadyDamerel · 17/09/2011 21:56

LOL at 'I would'. Smallio, you've been rumbled Grin.

Has the Man ever done the chat show circuit? It's just occurred to me that the only interviews I've seen with him have been on morning TV.

PassTheTwiglets · 17/09/2011 22:00

I've never seen him on any chat shows...

DumSpiroSpero · 17/09/2011 22:01

ROFL at Small undercover in the JR audience.

Have just been reading about Queen Victoria on wiki as I need to talk to Miss S about her for her homework apparently Hmm. How sweet/Grin is this:

Victoria and Albert were married on 10 February 1840. Victoria was besotted. She spent the evening after their wedding lying down with a headache, but wrote ecstatically in her diary:

I NEVER, NEVER spent such an evening !! ! MY DEAREST DEAREST DEAR Albert ... his excessive love & affection gave me feelings of heavenly love & happiness I never could have hoped to have felt before! He clasped me in his arms, & we kissed each other again & again! His beauty, his sweetness & gentleness ? really how can I ever be thankful enough to have such a Husband! ... to be called by names of tenderness, I have never yet heard used to me before ? was bliss beyond belief! Oh! This was the happiest day of my life!

Headache my arse! Grin

SupermassiveLBD · 17/09/2011 22:08

Hmm maybe, Spiro, but eventually dearest Albert turned into a bit of a control freak IIRC. He was a bit peeved at not being the King, and started telling her what to do in matters of State and all.

PassTheTwiglets · 17/09/2011 22:09

Lovely! Is it true though? Odd that that sort of thing should be in the public domain. One of my favourite Doctor Who episodes is about Queen Victoria, you could show her that - mind you, she turns out to be a werewolf, so maybe not... :)

LadyDamerel · 17/09/2011 22:12

LOL @ the thought of MissS quoting the Dr Who version of Queen Victoria's reign. That would make for one confused teacher Grin.

SupermassiveLBD · 17/09/2011 22:12

Oooh, I love that episode, Twigs. One of the ones i have seen.

DumSpiroSpero · 17/09/2011 22:21

We don't watch Dr Who - it scared the hell out of me when I was little and the special effects were rubbish so I dread to think how she'd be with it. TBH it scares me more than Torchwood which is supposed to be for adults Blush.

Apparently QV kept diaries religiously throughout her life, averaging about 2,500 words a day and they were well documented and in some cases preserved, so it seems very likely that quote is accurate.

OP posts:
PassTheTwiglets · 17/09/2011 22:25

I love everything about that episode but especially the glasses :)

SupermassiveLBD · 17/09/2011 22:26

Wasn't that episode where Torchwood is first mentioned?

DumSpiroSpero · 17/09/2011 22:28

What series/episode is it? I might see if I can get it from the library.

OP posts:
PassTheTwiglets · 17/09/2011 22:30

It was - good memory for a non-Who fan! Queen Victoria sets up the Torchwood Institute to protect Earth against aliens. What I love about Dr Who is where they take a real-life mystery or piece of history and make up a story around it. The fact that haemophillia appeared suddenly in Queen Victoria's family was strange in RL but explained away in Doctor Who as them being werewolves :) And Agatha Christie's disappearance was because she was fighting giant alien wasps, of course.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 17/09/2011 22:37

::Staggers in after a lovely outing to Spiroshire::

Commiserations to all who are suffering from a surfeit of sport, Smurfs or lampreys.

I believe there are also bits of Queen Victoria's diaries where she commends Albert's ::ahem:: athleticism. Maybe better not to C&P this into Miss Spiro's homework.

Are you there, Massive? .

PassTheTwiglets · 17/09/2011 22:39

Spiro, MissTwigs was only allowed to watch DrWho in the last few years - I didn't consider it suitable before that. But it's not the monsters that I found inappropriate, it was that the subjects and emotions were too intense or hard to deal with. I'm not bothered about her watching scary monsters (facing fears in a safe environment can get good for them anyway), but I didn't want a 6 year old having to think about torture, for example.

It's in the second series in its recent incarnation (though long-standing Who fans, which I'm not, would say it's the 15th, or whatever!)
