Swap ya, m'dear.

The prices do seem to have gone up hugely since we went, but they do regular sales & offers (we got a Valentine's weekend Sunday night for £29!), so it's worth signing up for their newsletter if you like the look of it.

DumSpiroSpero · 31/07/2011 23:17

::wonders whether she should tart up refresh the spare room in time for the Olympics::

I am planning to save my pennies so I can take myself & Miss S away for at least a week during the Olympics and be completely oblivious to the whole thing.

LadyDamerel · 31/07/2011 23:17

That's good to know, it's a bit eye watering for the nights we will need but would be good another time. It looks fab!

New Zealand is nice at that time of year, I've heard Grin.

::Looks at the somewhat dissipated Jasper and his second-rate cravats and realises that Her Heart Still Belongs To Another::

::Chases after LadyDamerel's carriage, rescues Mr Thornton from her scheming clutches and reunites husband and wife::

Later, back on the rug ....

DumSpiroSpero · 31/07/2011 23:22

There is no way my budget will stretch that far, sadly! Am looking at cottages in Yorkshire at the moment.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/07/2011 23:25

Watch out next summer, Spiro, for my thread entitled B@gger the Olympics.

LadyDamerel · 31/07/2011 23:26

::realises she prefers dissipated gentlemen anyway::

::concedes defeat::

Cheshire's nice, Spiro.....

DumSpiroSpero · 31/07/2011 23:29

I'll be there like a shot Maud. Unfortunately Mr S is sport mad so Miss S & I will be enduring 17 days of gold medal level boredom unless I plan meticulously, and since I will also be avoiding London like the plague I think a proper holiday is required. Might even look at camping in the West Country so there's no TV!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/07/2011 23:29

::Prides herself on having saved yet another marriage through her wise counsel and deft cushion-throwing::

But won't you be far enough away from it, Spiro? Or would you want a holiday then anyway?

DumSpiroSpero · 31/07/2011 23:32

Well, I'm looking at Bronte country in West Yorkshire, from which I understand it's relatively quick & easy to access Manchester as well as Leeds, Halifax & Harrogate. Just need to find somewhere walking distance of station as I'm not driving that distance in my old banner!

DumSpiroSpero · 31/07/2011 23:33

...or old banger, even!

LadyDamerel · 31/07/2011 23:33

Spiro, I suggest a house/husband swap. You and MissS come here and we'll watch back to back RA study material and LordD can go to yours and watch all those exceedingly dull events with MrS.

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/07/2011 23:39

Bronte country? Do you have any particular reason for picking that destination?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 01/08/2011 00:01

Having killed the thread, I'm now going to bed. Night night, all!

LadyDamerel · 01/08/2011 00:09

::chucks Uzi out::

::turns off lights::

::stomps upstairs muttering non-too-quietly about People Who Don't Let The Cat Out Or Turn Off The Lights Before They Leave::

OP posts:
DumSpiroSpero · 01/08/2011 00:11

Well yes Maud - that has reawakened my interest of late, but I've been fascinated by the Bronte's since my teens & both my parents were evacuated to just outside Leeds during WWII, so it's far from the only reason for wanting to visit the area.

Lady D - better still, how about I decamp to yours on my own and you send Mr D & the minis to join Mr & Miss S for the duration (now all we need is a lottery win for those flights to NZ!) Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 01/08/2011 00:18

::Looks back at you::

I wasn't sure who was still here, Lady Damerel. I thought I might have concussed you stunned you into silence and I've been told off in the past for turning the lights off while people are still here.

::A woman's place is in the wrong emoticon::

A bit of wind and wuthering could be a perfect antidote to the Olympics, Spiro, with or without dear sweet Ralph John.

TheSmallPrint · 01/08/2011 07:00

Morning ladies (although I struggle to use those words after last night undignified scrapping). Spiro have you been to West Yorkshire before?

DumSpiroSpero · 01/08/2011 08:54

Morning!

No I haven't Small - Birmingham is as far north as I've got (not including Scotland).

I really like the look of this place but is not great from a public transport point of view.

DumSpiroSpero · 01/08/2011 08:57

This looks like a possibility though Smile.

TheSmallPrint · 01/08/2011 09:44

I can't open those where I am at the mo so will take a peek later. I know the townie bits but not the country side as much.

House swapping sounds a great idea, I have actually thought about doing it for real but it would mean I'd haveto clean the house which is never going to happen!

SupermassiveLBD · 01/08/2011 10:43

Well LadyD, you nearly got me well and truly rumbled last night. Just sitting around, with everyone and sneakily ''checking my email'' and up pops a half-nekkid Gizzy in all his glory.

Wibble. And thud. And panic as I try to shut down the window -- when of course my baulky machine locks up and I can't even swap to another window.

Grin and Blush

I did make it eventually before anyone noticed

PassTheTwiglets · 01/08/2011 10:53

Morning!! I was out all day yesterday (visiting my brother's new and depressingly large house) and having dinner at my parents'. Managed to finally get DrTwigs to watch Downton Abbey with me - thought we ought to hurry up and watch it before the new series starts!

Have just managed to catch up with everything - I swear you lot are most talkative when I'm not here :)

I raelly, really loved your Bad Case of Loving You vid, Maud. I must say, I often don't watch the vids that are linked to - can't really watch them in the evening when DrTwigs is around, but I made a point of watching that one as it was new and I thought it was great! I do love a bit of video-to-audio matching :)

I'm up for an HJ outing too. Not that I'm an HJ fan especially but I do love my musicals.

And golly gosh, I did go a bit hot under the collar at the thought of Dr Track and Lucas :) Maud is right, I do indeed carry a bit of a industrial-sized torch for the good doctor. He's so clean shaven and his skin is glowingly beautiful, though I think we decided that was probably the reflection of the bright orange jumpsuit!

Maud, I also loved the I Want Candy vid. Ah, Blackpool is a real favourite Chez Twigs. We've watched that DVD several times. I think DrTwigs has a bit of a crush on Sarah Parish so that one works out equally well for both of us :)

Hebden Bridge, eh, Spiro? :)

Right, on with the day.
