See, she could've said "I've had a plumber round" but she had to go for "seeing to my pipework"...

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/07/2011 14:24

Aha! You have played right into my hands.

::evil cackle::

You must remember that the two greatest cultural influences in my life are Mrs Gaskell and Les Dawson.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/07/2011 14:26

And here is a sneak preview of next week's meet-up at Claridge's.

SupermassiveLBD · 27/07/2011 14:37

More like this I shuld have thought, Maudie

Yikes, is that the time Shock

I am really and truly outta here.

DumSpiroSpero · 27/07/2011 15:27

short feature from Empire (and confirmation that it is a prosthetic nose!)

PassTheTwiglets · 27/07/2011 16:55

Thanks for that, Spiro! How is the room looking? (dining room, was it?)

Wonder how LadyD is getting on? :)

We are two courses through the 'make a 3 course meal' thing and I'm having a break before I let them loose on the blackberry crumble - I need to be mentally strong before we attempt that one.

DrTwigs is out tonight so it's a glass of wine, some good telly and a bit of scribbling for me. Yay!

SupermassiveLBD · 27/07/2011 17:36

Just a quick dash in and out

Lovely article, Spiro, thanks. Thorin sounds an absolute gift for an actor like the Man, I bet he'll have the time of his life with it.

I thought the nose was a prosthetic. It seems such a crime to cover up the magnificence that is the real one.

What you might call nez majesté Wink

Boom-boom.

LadyDamerel · 27/07/2011 17:47

Genuin

SupermassiveLBD · 27/07/2011 17:55

You okay, ladyD? That seemed like you'd had a bag put over your head, mid-post Shock

LadyDamerel · 27/07/2011 18:02

Mission update

early morning reconnaissance showed no barriers or other signs of slender potential.

5pm reconnaissance under guise of toilet trip showed no changes.

Currently on stakeout under cover of Italian eatery with clear view of entry.

No change to venue status so far.

Stand by for further info.

Over and out.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/07/2011 18:12

::adjusts earpiece::

DumSpiroSpero · 27/07/2011 18:15

Loving Lady D's mission update! Grin

Twigs at the moment the whole house is in chaos as we were storing some stuff from the ex-conservatory in the dining room and have had to move that as well as all the dining room stuff out to decorate. Mr S has also helped out today. 2 steamers and we had the rest of the paper off in just over an hour but...I'm going to have to line it before painting, so Mr S has done the ceiling and I have done all the woodwork. I'm lining tomorrow and he's painting on Friday.

We have dd's friend over for a sleepover tonight - have just had dinner and friend has climbed on my lap for a cuddle. Miss Spiro is not so impressed at having to share mummy!

PassTheTwiglets · 27/07/2011 18:25

ROFL @ LadyD's status report.

Calling Alpha One - redlfash the rest of the team should the current status change. Over and out.

Wow, I am impressed at your ability to put up wallpaper, Spiro. I would just be hopeless at that.

I don't get the nez majeste thing, I am fick, innit. Please explain to a dunce?

SupermassiveLBD · 27/07/2011 18:25

Grin @ Ros and Lucas and the perfume. Perhaps they have some of that special coffee at Lady D's Italian eatery.

Poor Spiro. Who cuddles the cuddler, I always wonder?

DumSpiroSpero · 27/07/2011 18:30

It's only lining paper, Twigs - no patterns to match up - just cut into equal lengths and slap it up. We've got dado rails as well which makes the lengths of the strips shorter and easier to manage.

SupermassiveLBD · 27/07/2011 18:31

Oh Twigs it was a corny joke. But there is an old crime of insulting or endangering the monarch and it's called Lèse majesté

and nez is French for nose of course. Not that you pronounce the z , do you?

Well I told you it was a rubbish joke. Blush

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/07/2011 18:33

Lèse majesté is an injury to the dignity of the monarch, whereas nez majesté would be an injury to the aquiline profile.

SupermassiveLBD · 27/07/2011 18:35

Maudie said it better

PassTheTwiglets · 27/07/2011 18:57

Aha, thanks for the explanations, Massive & Maud. Hadn't heard of lese majeste (don't know how to do accents!)

Spiro, I'm still impressed, patterns or no! I would put too much paste on and tear the paper, or I'd get bubbles in it, or it'd be wonky or goodness knows what else. I can also never understand how you can take a long sheet of paper and fold it up enough to lift it and then neatly unfold it again. I';d end up looking like this

TheSmallPrint · 27/07/2011 19:19

Thanks for the status update Lady D, sounds like you have good position for visuals, maintain your current location until further notice.

Spiro you're making me feel tired just talking a out DIY.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/07/2011 19:34

I didn't say it better - I just used pictures.

I was waiting at the bus stop earlier (oh, the glamour) thinking about Small's architectural Lego and .

DumSpiroSpero · 27/07/2011 20:03

Well, Mr Spiro is exceedingly unconvinced about ivory walls all over so tomorrow we are going to look for some decent paper to go below dado with plain ivory on top.

Looks like I'm going to be having a go at hanging patterned paper after all Confused

SupermassiveLBD · 27/07/2011 20:53

tomorrow we are going to look for some decent paper

Instead , Spiro, why not task your DD and all her little friends to do a Michelangelo and do you some ''Muriels'' ?

You could even project some of the Academy Old Masters onto the walls and have them colour them in.

TheSmallPrint · 27/07/2011 20:58

Maud I can't open your link, what choon was it?

Massive that sounds like fabulous wallpaper, it could match the faculty curtains.

PassTheTwiglets · 27/07/2011 20:59

Hee hee

Don't recall seeing this pic before

So I note that Alpha One has not returned yet. Do you think we should organise Doghouse?
