Morning Spiro, hope your arms don ache too much. Mum was a huge Neil Diamond fan but not a fan girl as far as I know. She didn't grow up in this country or the USA so probably not much opportunity.

Operation crazy stalker lady CA is good to go Grin.

*Housework done - check
*MiniDs scrubbed and brushed - check
*Lady D looking good - well, can't have everything

  • large box, cable ties and stun gun loaded into car - check

As there has been nothing on the news about tonight I don't think there will be any slebs or Beards there but I feel it is my duty, as the only local Academy member to be there just in case.

Will report back in due course........

PassTheTwiglets · 27/07/2011 08:52

Morning all. I called it a night at 9pm and headed up with Sylvester. ROFL at Cox's Orange Pippins, Maud :o

Was it Spiro who said recently that CA wasn't meant to be very good? I've heard the complete opposite, actually. I have a friend who is a real film buff (write blogs etc.) and he said that it is supposed to be very good amongst the people he's spoken to. I mean, it's still going to be a boy's film though, isn't it? :)

Maud, re. that last photo of yours: much as the silly hat puts me off, I always find that particular photo remarkably striking. His skin is so perfect and his hand is just... well, I just want to stroke it. The black is so black, the white is so white... it's very aesthetically-pleasing.

PassTheTwiglets · 27/07/2011 08:53

LOL at your list, LadyD! I have just been Googling tonight's premiere for you but I couldn't find anything either :( Good luck though!

TheSmallPrint · 27/07/2011 09:06

Grin at Lady D's plan of action. Good luck in your stalking visit to the museum.

Twigs, sadly I will probably enjoy CA, I like the Marvel films, especially <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=hugh+jackman+wolverine&hl=en&sa=G&tbm=isch&tbnid=-KlhB08FAozVJM:&imgrefurl=toyhaven.blogspot.com/2008/11/hugh-jackman-named-peoples-sexiest-man.html&docid=Ga4yv0SFkWD_9M&w=300&h=400&ei=Z8cvTsDuNs7E8QOx1Mxl&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=602&vpy=392&dur=2839&hovh=259&hovw=194&tx=111&ty=127&page=2&tbnh=174&tbnw=143&start=37&ndsp=40&ved=1t:429,r:12,s:37&biw=1920&bih=880" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Wolverine for obvious reasons. Wink

I don't really do superhero stuff - DrTwigs does, but he says scornfully "DC though, not Marvel" :)

SupermassiveLBD · 27/07/2011 10:41

A big Grin from me too, at Lady D's master plan.

Ros has nothing on you, Lady. They would take you on at Thames House like a shot.

Wishing you the best of luck for the success of your mission. The thoughts and lusts of the whole Academy ride with you. Wink

I would so love to be a fly on the wall when you lot meet up. I can just imagine the reaction of the other diners in the restaurant when a bevy of delightful, intelligent and very classy ladies, appear, all ''on their own'' as men say of women not accompanied by a man to give the occasion legitimacy.

All hug, sit and start in on multiple toasts in their Prosecco, which they refer to as something that sounds something like like ''Fizzy Gizzy'' , Confused And all to a mysterious entity they call ''The Man''.

It would be rather like Charlie's Angels, on steroids.

Meanwhile, in view of the recent Scotsman interview this made me giggle - and speculate.

(Warning: DM link)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/07/2011 11:38

Morning all!

I quite agree, LadyDamerel, that sometimes as the local representative one has to take one for the team and go along to these events, much as one might prefer to stay at home with one's macramé.

::Polishes her Active Service medal, First Class::

I'm glad someone appreciated my uproariously funny one and a half entendre about the apples, Twiggy. Obviously, I think that a fine photo (although I agree that the hat is de trop - I read something recently which gave a date for when the fashion in top hats changed from high-rise to low-rise - presumably, after Mr Thornton's time as he has always been the epitome of grace and style).

I too would love to be a fly on the wall at the meet-up which I imagine more as Charlie's Angels on HRT.

SupermassiveLBD · 27/07/2011 12:00

Again pacet he dreaded circus references, a Pachydermic Serenade, (with apologies to Frank Ifield -- )

SupermassiveLBD · 27/07/2011 12:03

I still don't get the apple joke. But then I'm an ex-pat and certain cultural references may be lorst on me. You could always PM me if it's a bit too Benny Hill in tone. Blush

TheSmallPrint · 27/07/2011 12:04

Grin @ Massive

Shock @ Muad's 'Charlies Angels on HRT' we're not quite there yet Maudie!

I suspect none of you bothered to check out my hot Wolverine link?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/07/2011 12:09

Even I draw the line at Frank Ifield, Massive.

::searches for earplugs::

I was wondering whether Spiro was .

SupermassiveLBD · 27/07/2011 12:31

Literally PMSL Blush @ M & W. Aah, they don't make 'em like that any more.

I am loving the Lego Wolverine, Small.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/07/2011 12:41

I am speking for myself, Small!

You didn't look very hard, did you Massive?

SupermassiveLBD · 27/07/2011 12:50

His eyes are the wrong colour though, Maud.

I would really love to have a teensy weensy Gizzy I could keep in my kincker pocket.

SupermassiveLBD · 27/07/2011 13:02

B*gger. Well, you get the idea...

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/07/2011 13:02

You are far too picky, Massive, but is this more to your liking?

Searches in vain for the scene in Absolutely Fabulous where Patsy keeps her pager in her knickers

SupermassiveLBD · 27/07/2011 13:26
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/07/2011 13:35

I think we get the idea all too clearly, Massive!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/07/2011 13:37

I imagine the comment would have been along the lines of phwooar.

SupermassiveLBD · 27/07/2011 13:42

Must go and Get On, for a bit now Sad

À bientôt

SupermassiveLBD · 27/07/2011 13:46

Oh bless him, he does rather go for it when he gets the remotest chance.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/07/2011 13:48

Right. I've had a man here seeing to my pipework, but he's now gorn so I must feed this Child. Toodle-pip!

SupermassiveLBD · 27/07/2011 13:51

I've had a man here seeing to my pipework
