Please come Maud...pretty please....with a cherry on top...

PassTheTwiglets · 23/07/2011 21:45

Once you have children, and you reach a certain level in your career, it seems impossible to uproot yourself like that. Plus, of course, travel terrifies me! #issues At least MrMaud joins in with your dreams though and doesn't do the "don't be so stupid" thing :)

I would be thin if I lived in Venice, too. All that delicious - and affordable - fish and vegetables I'd wander down to the Rialto fish market every morning and choose the freshest tuna steaks and the juiciest artichoke hearts and would spend all day cooking and drinking Prosecco on my balcony whist the children played happily. Then I'd meer DrTwigs for an ombre and we'd eat and then go for a wander along the Grand Canal....

PassTheTwiglets · 23/07/2011 21:47

Sorry, I spent so long on my litle daydream that I hadn't noticed the conversation had moved on :)

LadV, you are right, we don't know which screen is which. It was Small who didn't like 3D, so I think it's fair if we see 2D, if that's ok with everyone?

LadyD, are you goign to the Liverpool thing then; have you changed your mind?!

PassTheTwiglets · 23/07/2011 21:50

yknow the most improbable part of all that above is the children playing happily - everything else would be potentially acheivable :)

LadyDamerel · 23/07/2011 21:52

We want to spend a few years living in Singapore, even got as far as DH applying for a job, looked at renting out our house here, etc then discovered that it would have a very detrimental effect on DH's career if he was out of the UK for all that time. So it's been placed firmly in the 'pipe dream' box, possibly to be pulled out at the end of his career.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/07/2011 21:54

I can't come, LadyV, I shall be on my hols. Even the prospect of another lickable Mr Thornton can't change my mind.

Yes, Twigs, fortunately Bloke likes to play along with this daft idea. Should we ever win the lottery, we're off. Meanwhile, Lidl does a very good Prosecco.

::shopping tips from Maud::

LadyDamerel · 23/07/2011 21:55

It's more likely they'd be wedging each other's heads in the beautiful wrought iron balcony railings Grin.

No, I haven't changed my mind unless there is absolute confirmation the Man will be there but the temptation is HUGE.

::refuses to stoop to the level of the crazy american ladies::

PassTheTwiglets · 23/07/2011 21:57

Je suis orf. Night all xx

LadyVenetia · 23/07/2011 21:58

Oh that's such a shame Maud, not that I begrudge you your holiday - hope you are going somewhere nice.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/07/2011 21:58

::Smiles the smug serene smile of a mother-of-one who doesn't have to contend with the sibling rivalry and head-wedging::

LadyVenetia · 23/07/2011 21:59

Night Twigs!

LadyDamerel · 23/07/2011 22:00

I have a spare if you'd like the experience!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/07/2011 22:00

Dors bien, ma petite Twiggy!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/07/2011 22:20

Err, in the nicest possible way, no thank you, LadyDamerel. Girl has been a singleton for too long - and I'm far too ancient - to cope with another child on the premises now. Not even dear Jasper's progeny.

LadyDamerel · 23/07/2011 22:30

You're sure then? Grin.

LordD has put the boxing on. I'm going to bed in protest.

Now, do I reread a GH or North & South, or carry on with The Alison Weir book on Eleanor of Aquitaine I started the other day? Decisions, decisions.

LadyDamerel · 23/07/2011 22:30

Not sure why there's a capital T on the Hmm.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/07/2011 22:33

Boxing? Oh dear me. And as for the book question, what would you expect me to say?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/07/2011 22:59

And it's a goodnight from me too.

LadyVenetia · 23/07/2011 23:04

Nighty night all!

DumSpiroSpero · 24/07/2011 07:59

Morning All! I have got the short straw today and am not only up at silly o'clock but also trying to stave off a hangover.

On the travel front - did you read about the couple that won the euro lottery the other week? Apparently they are planning to travel the world in style visiting all the major museums and art galleries. Envy, moi?

Will not go on for now as I have a small person nosing over my shoulder!

TheSmallPrint · 24/07/2011 08:16

Spiro I was with you so I feel your pain. One day I would like Mr Small (that always makes me larf) to feed the Smallboys breakfast without upsetting one of them and making them come running upstairs to me crying.

OP posts:
LadyDamerel · 24/07/2011 08:25

I'm with you on that one, Small. Or just get out of bed and deal with what they're asking for, the first time instead of fobbing them off repeatedly until I get fed up and get up with them. Grr.

PassTheTwiglets · 24/07/2011 09:20

Morning, ladies! Did you have a fun night, Spiro? Hope the hangover isn't too bad.

TwigBoy actually woke up relatively late this morning (my 25 year old self would've laughed uproariously at the idea of that being late) but I was up loads in the night, with Brain Buzz. Thinking about a story idea, wondering what to get TwigBoy for his birthday, what cake to make him and, mainly, my ongoing Hair Crisis :) I can't decide what to do about my hair colour and it is driving me mad 'cos I can't stop thinking about it. Can't afford to have highlights done at salon anymore so hairdresser suggested an idea which sounds good but also think I might hate it. And it does mean one more lot of paying for salon colour. I want to do it myself at home but I am scared of it going green... anyway, as I said, it's a complete crisis :)

DumSpiroSpero · 24/07/2011 12:11

Well I can't complain too much about Mr S. I fell asleep on the sofa after posting and when I woke up half an hour ago he'd got Miss S to tidy her room, given her a bath & hairwash & cooked them both a full English! He has his moments Grin

Had a lovely evening thanks, Twigs. Just at my friend around the corner's house with wine, music & posh crisps!

Right, need to get myself sorted & over to the olds for the day.

PassTheTwiglets · 24/07/2011 14:01

Well we've just been out for a pub lunch where the children managed to actually make me cry with their awfulness. So that was fun.
