Thank you for your thoughts everyone. Grandpa died yesterday, very peacefully, with lots of his family around him. I'm doing okay, emotionally drained and absolutely knackered after 4 days of driving to and from where he lives but I'm holding up.

Sorry to hear about your Grandpa, LadyD. Lovely that all was peaceful and his family were around though. Hope you're all doing ok.
