Happy anniversary, Spiro! I was being rather rude and unladylike with the "bore right into you" comment :o Fnar, fnar... hope your meal is nice tonight!

Spiro & Small, I am SO grateful to you both. I now have hours of The Voice on my phone, thanks to you two! I finally got around to following your instructions about how to get the audiobooks onto my phone and it worked, woohoo!! It didn't work the first time round and I was getting very cross but then I noticed that they'd been saved as wma files, whatever the heck they are. So I did it again as mp3 and it worked. I can't wipe the smile off my face now :) I am going to my parents tomorrow night and we're having another day trip to France on Thursday, so he can come with me now :) I am almost wishing I was a sulky teenager again so that I could sit in the back of the car with my headphones on, instead of having to chat and make conversation :) I'm so thrilled that it worked, thank you both again. xx

Oh good news Twigs!! Sounds like you've got something set up that automatically saves as a Windows file - is your computer default Windows Media Player? That might be a load of old tosh though. Grin

Can you pretend to be asleep but secretly listening?

PassTheTwiglets · 05/04/2011 13:38

is your computer default Windows Media Player?

I have no idea - Spiro just told me to use that sdo I did as I was told :) But luckily I rembered you telling me to save as an mp3 and I found the option for Windows Media Player tosave as an mp3 file instead. This is practically Stephen Hawking level of Cleverness, for me :)

It's hiding the earphones in the first place, Small... and it is Dad's birthday trip. Perhaps I could catch TwigBoy's ear infection and require special Medical Earphones to make it better?

OP posts:
TheSmallPrint · 05/04/2011 13:48

Twigs, you just said in your second paragraph I found the option for Windows Media Player tosave as an mp3 file so I suspect it is the default setting. Grin

Long hair is very useful for hiding earphones - start growing it now!

PassTheTwiglets · 05/04/2011 14:08

I know that WMP is on the PC, I just didn't know whether it was the default one or not [dunce emoticon] :)

I look ridiculous with long hair, sadly. It's too fine and flat. I'm going to take this picture to the hairdresser's next time I go.

OP posts:
TheSmallPrint · 05/04/2011 14:36

Oh Windows try and make all their stuff default, they like the control! I am only guessing.

That photo looks like your hair in your profile pics. It's a really nice cut. I have a small head* so need as much hair as possible to make my head in proportion to the rest of my bulk. Grin

  • packed full of brains obviously Wink

Wot are you ladies like? Confused

... and the Oscar for most self-deprecating post goes to ...

And this from a bunch of ladies whose warmth, generosity, inventiveness and sparking wit never fails to delight me. Your photos don't bear all the negative comments out, either. So there!

TheSmallPrint · 05/04/2011 14:55

Aww shucks Massive Blush, we love you too.

PassTheTwiglets · 05/04/2011 14:55

Bless you, Small! My hair is supposed to look like that but I usually end up looking either like Farrah Fawcett (my hairdresser doesn't know the difference between good flicks and bad flicks. And when it grows out I have a particularly fetching mullet.

OP posts:
PassTheTwiglets · 05/04/2011 14:56

Awww, Massive!

OP posts:
TheSmallPrint · 05/04/2011 14:58

mmm mullets are a good look Twigs, think you should stick with that look. Wink

SupermassiveLBD · 05/04/2011 15:07

Meanwhile here is a photo of me when I try to go for a smooth sleek bob...

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/04/2011 15:10

Aww again, Massive.

There's people all over MN raving about the Big Hair gizmo, so perhaps you should release your inner Farrah Fawcett, Twiggy?

Small - See my earlier comments re plants. The hydrangea that the RHS and I are suggesting is a very chic plant and not at all that municipal/care home thing which you (wisely) ripped out. ::horticultural fashion victim:: And (as an afterthought) another consideration. How old is the house? Is the wall a house wall or the garden wall? Something that looks lovely next to a thatched cottage may look odd next to a minimalist glass and steel box and vice versa.

Happy anniversary, Spiro. How many years is it?

TheSmallPrint · 05/04/2011 15:10

Grin I will forever think of you as Crystal Tips now Massive! That is also a good look.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/04/2011 15:12

Arf, Massive.

::Wonders if the youngsters on this thread will have any idea who Crystal Tipps and Alistair were::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/04/2011 15:36

Aha. Crossed posts. Evidently at least one of the youngsters does.

PassTheTwiglets · 05/04/2011 15:44

I keep reading about the Big Hair Tungy, Maud, but apparently it doesn't work for short hair.

Love the Crystal Tipps photo!!!

OP posts:
PassTheTwiglets · 05/04/2011 15:44

Tungy?! Thingy.

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 05/04/2011 15:50

Is there a small hair thingy, I wonder?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/04/2011 15:50

Well, it's all academic (ha!) for me, but I only know about the Big Hair Thingy because India Knight was tweeting about it (see how modern I am) and then it was mentioned several times here.

DumSpiroSpero · 05/04/2011 16:06

Aw Massive...that deserves a big un-Mumsnetty hug if anything ever did. Feeling your pain on the curly front though!

Thanks Maud - 8 years married but have been together 14 and a half! Considering I'm commitment-phobic about even signing up to an evening class I'm not quite sure how that's happenened tbh Grin!

Our romantic meal is now going to include DD though, who has decided she'd like to have a go at kangaroo steak!

SupermassiveLBD · 05/04/2011 16:22

Kangaroo? That's different. Have you had it before, Spiro?

TheSmallPrint · 05/04/2011 16:40

Maud wall is front of our house as per photo on my profile. Have also put on original house showing monster plant position by front door. I would ideally like the climber to grow from there and hide the dodgy mortar the builders did to look pretty around the door.

Are you on Twitter now??

TheSmallPrint · 05/04/2011 16:40

There is a window above the front door now btw.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/04/2011 17:20

Aha, Small. Have you added the garage and room above to the house, or are they just hidden by the camera angle in the first photo (and who is that on the lawn by the way? Even with Massive's megazoom function I can't tell whether it's you)? Anyway, it's a lovely house and the front garden is much improved by the addition of the front path. I think as you've already got ivy, something with flowers would be nice so, as it's quite a trad house, how about one of the roses? Because roses don't cling, you'd have to put up some sort of framework for it to be tied to, but that might be preferable to having to prise hydrangea or ivy aerial roots off the windows.

I've been on Twitter for a long time but (with very few exceptions) I use it only to follow people and organisations I'm connected to professionally. The whole Kevin and Perry Twitter Lucas thing put me off using it for, ahem, role-playing games.
