::Returns from the basement with her pince-nez askew and a fine layer of dust on her sensible brogues::

I suppose this is hardly in the spirit of woolly jumpers and accountancy but, anyway, .

TheSmallPrint · 05/04/2011 17:33

Yes we added the garage and room over and a whole load more at the back, it was originally a very small house on a rather large plot and we have pretty much doubled the floor area.

It's me posing on the lawn. Yes, roses sound nice, it won't be too twee though will it? We do have to get the ivy off the windows - it drives Mr Small mad.

TheSmallPrint · 05/04/2011 17:34

I was thinking earlier we haven't enough Harry vids seeing as this is his building. I will search tomorrow as I am out on the tiles tonight.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/04/2011 17:42

I did wonder whether I was seeing evidence of your professional expertise! As for twee, I would rather think timeless and classic but only you can judge whether it's more timeless and classic than you're comfortable with. Maybe you could have some radical chic planting in the flower beds to offset it? (I could see the ivy encroaching on the windows, that's why I mentioned it.)

::Returns to the basement for further rummaging::

.

Right. Going off comms. Back later.

PassTheTwiglets · 05/04/2011 17:44

Oooh, lovely house, Small!! I was also going to ask where the disappearing extension is, in the back view photo! Am very Envy of your paved drive. We just have a muddy, half-grass half-broken concrete front garden and it's really embarrassing. We have a big row of the old-lady blue/pink hydrangeas - I don't like them at all but they serve the purpose of hiding part of the garden! It's a running joke with our neighbours that oen of the kids in the street said to his mum "I love the Twiglets' front garden!" "Really? Er - why?" asked his incredulous mum. "Because it looks like a jungle" responded said child :o But the inside of the house has to take priority over the outside, so hey ho.

What are you up to tonight then, Small? Hope you have fun, whatever you're doing! I have a few of the neighbours coming round for drinkies, to discuss plans for our royal wedding street party.

Lovely house, Small - am very Envy of your architectural skills to be able to develop it like you have too. Is Mr Small also an architect?

Twigs my front garden resembles a beach - all shingled over until we can afford to have it tarmac-ed or preferably block-paved (around the time we retire then). Think I'd rather have jungle...

Just got back from parents evening which was possibly even better than the report so am a very smug happy bunny this evening. Grin

DumSpiroSpero · 05/04/2011 18:22

BTW yes we've had kangaroo before, on our honeymoon in Australia. Be interesting to see how this lives up to the 'home grown' stuff.

PassTheTwiglets · 05/04/2011 18:38

Yay to Miss Spiro again! How nice for you all. I use to have parents' evenings and reports like that but not since juniors!

Where does one even buy kangaroo over here?

OP posts:
TheSmallPrint · 05/04/2011 18:39

Thanks ladies, as always we are never happy with we have, I am constantly looking at bits that need doing or aren't quite how we would want them. We did the work on the cheap so had to make a lot of compromises. The paved drive Mr Small did with Grandad Small - it was a big project as it's about 75m2!

Spiro well done to your DD for such a fab report and parents evening, you must be very proud of her we don't get reports til end of summer term so will bite nails until then. Does your school do SATs or have they boycotted them?

Twigs I am off out with my sisters tonight, nothing exciting but nice to get out all the same. Hope you all have a lovely evening.

DumSpiroSpero · 05/04/2011 18:40

There are specialist butchers - you only need to search online.

PassTheTwiglets · 05/04/2011 19:04

Oh you are lucky to have sisters - I wish I had a sister :( I don't have many RL friends and I often wish I had a sister to go out with. DD wishes she has a sister too and I do feel a bit sad for her but I'm damned if I'm having another kid :o Have fun!

We only get end of summer term reports, too. Not looking forward to this year's one as I don't think her teacher likes her very much! She got above average results in some aspects of her SATs last year, yet her current teacher thinks she isn't very good at said aspects Hmm Anyway, that's a whole other thread :)

Maud, so how short is your hair, or would that be giving too much personal info? Is it actually shaved or just very short?

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 05/04/2011 19:23

Hi all!! ::waves::

My kids broke up for Easter hols today so I am feeling in an end if term mood even though I have to go to work!

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 05/04/2011 20:29

Here's that photo that I couldn't link to yesterday...

DumSpiroSpero · 05/04/2011 20:48

That photo is scrumptious Phoenix. We've had our anniversary dinner and H is now watching footy and I'm watching Women in Love part 2 Confused!

The kangaroo was lovely - DD polished hers off too - certainly couldn't call her a fussy eater.

Twigs - my dd's reception teacher was a nightmare - the difference with this one is amazing.

SATs will be next yr if they do them.

SupermassiveLBD · 05/04/2011 21:00

Hello, again! and thanks, Phoenix, that photo was worth the wait. What a treat.

Glad you enjoyed your dinner, Spiro. I imagined you eating it with hats with corks on, to the accompaniment of the wobble-board. Foster's to drink.
(Sorry, any Australians looking in, please free to mock UK stereotypes.)

Footy and Women in Love. Sounds pretty much like life in Villa Massive. Though I've not actually seen WIL yet, so it would have been something else similar in the girlie mode

LadyVenetia · 05/04/2011 21:17

I've got a new name

SupermassiveLBD · 05/04/2011 21:37

And a very nice name too, Lady V. Lucky you for bagging that!

DumSpiroSpero · 05/04/2011 21:39

But what was your old one Lady V?!

LadyVenetia · 05/04/2011 21:50

Phoenix....

PassTheTwiglets · 05/04/2011 21:56

Hello LadyV! How is that delicious Damerel these days? Give him my love and tell him I intend to, ahem, have him on my phone soon.

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/04/2011 21:58

::Curtseys to Lady Venetia::

SupermassiveLBD · 05/04/2011 21:58

Oh, that's great, Lady V. Hello again! Don't mind Twiggy, she is just rude today Grin

PassTheTwiglets · 05/04/2011 22:02

Massive, that is a libellous slur on my character. I am rude every day, I'll have you know.

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 05/04/2011 22:03

ROFL @Twigs!

PassTheTwiglets · 05/04/2011 22:05

Right, I'm off to try out Lord Rule on my phone... he's no Damerel or Sylvester but he sounds so lovely all the same :)
