Story...SILs best friend (who I have known for many years and who I like very much) is getting married this summer. I was pleasantly surprised that we got an invite (dh and I that is, not the dc)

Apparently it is now quite common at wedding receptions for there to be a sort of choreographed/staged dance routine (I had NO idea this happened, having been married a long while and never been to a wedding where this happened!)

Soooo, SIL has asked me to take part (they are short of girls and people keep dropping out).

I am mortified I think it sounds dreadful and vomit inducing.

However, SIL seems sure the BTB will love it and she is pretty desperate - or she wouldnt have asked me!!!!!!!!! Grin

So, do I grit my teeth, make a complete arse of myself and give the BTB a good laugh or say no.........

WWYD?????

try having a look on you tube to give you an idea of what to expect. There's some corkers on there. From the fantastic to the flipping awful.

tribpot · 31/03/2011 19:41
- it just means mixing two songs together.

This is a re-run of the appalling Thriller thread, only you can decide if your spirit can take being forced to pretend you are a modern day Kid from Fame ...

longislandicetea · 31/03/2011 19:45

Ok I get it now, 'mash up' makes sense. However this would not make me change my mind. Sticking with OH NO! Grin

crystalglasses · 31/03/2011 19:48

Just mention you twisted your ankle a while back and it keeps playing up - but statre in a conversation that doesn't include the wedding so that it is embedded in her mind when you eventually remind her of it next time she asks about joining in with the dance

mamatomany · 31/03/2011 19:48

I would only do the thriller routine anything else is {yawn}

It's been done to death now, not funny or original anymore.

What a lovely, tasteful wedding video. I so hope Wills and Kate will be following in this grand tradition.

Becaroooo · 31/03/2011 21:21

I had honestly never heard of this before

Feel like I would be really sane mean to say no...

OMG!!!!!!

I wont end up on youtube will I?????????

Noooooooooooooooooooooo................

OP posts:
Katisha · 31/03/2011 21:24

Good grief. Just say no.

tribpot · 31/03/2011 21:30

I agree. People keep dropping out because it is, as you say, dreadful and vomit-inducing. If the BTB is going to love it so much, let her mortify herself to Baby Got Back like in the Youtube example.

PMSL at the baby got back clip. OP you can't do it!

tribpot · 31/03/2011 21:48

If this is now common practice at weddings (I've never seen it, but haven't been to a wedding in a few years - only 3 or so) then marriage should be banned until people learn to control themselves. What's next - Livin' on a Prayer at funerals? Funerals other than Jon Bon Jovi's own actual one? (Which of course I hope will not be for many years).

Tack. Ee.

Becaroooo · 31/03/2011 21:54

Bec - I think you won't be performing a mash-up in such circumstances. Or indeed dancing of any kind.
