Story...SILs best friend (who I have known for many years and who I like very much) is getting married this summer. I was pleasantly surprised that we got an invite (dh and I that is, not the dc)

Apparently it is now quite common at wedding receptions for there to be a sort of choreographed/staged dance routine (I had NO idea this happened, having been married a long while and never been to a wedding where this happened!)

Soooo, SIL has asked me to take part (they are short of girls and people keep dropping out).

I am mortified I think it sounds dreadful and vomit inducing.

However, SIL seems sure the BTB will love it and she is pretty desperate - or she wouldnt have asked me!!!!!!!!! Grin

So, do I grit my teeth, make a complete arse of myself and give the BTB a good laugh or say no.........

WWYD?????

DO NOT DO IT! No seriously. Fake your own death if you have to STAY AWAY FROM THE MASH-UP DANCE THINGIE - even people who are supportively cheering will think you are a twat and put it on Youtube.

And definitely do not do Liverdance Shock

Becaroooo · 01/04/2011 16:34

oh, the horror.........Sad

Hahahahaha... just watched the Tradgedy one. I bet she was a Bridezilla!

SoupDragon · 01/04/2011 16:45

OP, it is essential you do it and post the video here

AKissIsNotAContract · 01/04/2011 16:49

Hmm, the ones I linked to were all organised by the bride herself. I think it's dodgy doing one as a surprise. If it's something the bride loves then she's probably got her own one planned as a surprise first dance, in which case the guest's one will spoil it. If it's not something she's into then she might be annoyed at having the wedding ruined!

There is much that could go wrong here. It's one thing for a bride to decide to do something on her wedding that gets laughed at on youtube, another thing entirely for the guests to do it!

Hahahaha 'Baby Got Back' that is pure class right there. I am going to demand my sister do this when she gets married next year. Weddings are always a bit dull, this really livens it up a bit. Grin

There was a brilliant thread about something like this a few years ago, can anyone remember it?

Becaroooo · 01/04/2011 16:58

That is what I think kiss

Lordy.

I will make you all a promise now...if I do it I will post a video of it on MN.

Then emigrate.

Do you know what, my first dance is on You Tube. Grin At least 3 people have watched it.

No mash up though sadly.

tribpot · 01/04/2011 22:36

RIVERDANCE !! - that is genius, just think what a complete arse you could make of yourself and everyone else. At least you can rehearse on You Tube - maybe offer to play the drums.

And if this really is a 'surprise' for the bride - god help the organiser.

Becaroooo · 02/04/2011 08:55

hmmm...thats the thing....the person who came up with the idea is not the one organising it!!! I think thats why I feel sorry for SIL....its someone elses idea that she has been roped into organising.

Oh dear.
