Well, this should guarantee us some visitors if it comes up on 'Most Active'.

one for the mantelpiece

Ok, the next 2 aren't John Standring, but it would be rude not to...

Station scene alert!!!

SupermassiveLBD · 31/03/2011 20:47

I don't think anyone here would have not looked back, Small.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/03/2011 20:48

Cornish - We have the three series of Robin Hood and North and South and I went to see him on stage at the Old Vic.

SupermassiveLBD · 31/03/2011 20:50

Maud's haul trumps us all put together, outright, with one single item

DumSpiroSpero · 31/03/2011 20:53

Dvds wise...I haven't got any Robin Hood or George Gently. Otherwise, I've been keeping Amazon pretty busy for the last 6 months Grin Blush

oh my! And then to follow up with Mrs Gaskell's written version!

Crikey! Blush
What about audio books?

SupermassiveLBD · 31/03/2011 21:02

Mrs Gaskell describes dear Johnny so perfectly, too. It's as if she travelled forward in time to see him on t'telly

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/03/2011 21:02

::Feebly::

Oh my! I haven't watched that for weeks.

::quivers::

I feel very fortunate that I was able to go to the Old Vic, Massive. It was quite a night.

::shuts up now::

TheSmallPrint · 31/03/2011 21:03

Maud made us all cry very envious by sneakily going to see Our Man at the theatre. She did not take any photos or video footage for which we will never forgive her as she is a model citizen and a lady of impeccable morals.

SupermassiveLBD · 31/03/2011 21:04

sorry that was Norman French Blush It must be catching... I meant nouveau of course.

TheSmallPrint · 31/03/2011 21:04

I think everyone has name changed since the early threads in case you don't recognise anyone Cornish.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/03/2011 21:05

Mrs Gaskell has left some of her notes for us to study, too.

::rapt attention::

Now, in Mr. Thornton's face the straight brows fell low over the clear, deep-set earnest eyes, which, without being unpleasantly sharp, seemed intent enough to penetrate into the very heart and core of what he was looking at. The lines in the face were few but firm, as if they were carved in marble, and lay principally about the lips, which were slightly compressed over a set of teeth so faultless and beautiful as to give the effect of sudden sunlight when the rare bright smile, coming in an instant and shining out of the eyes, changed the whole look from the severe and resolved expression of a man ready to do and dare everything, to the keen honest enjoyment of the moment, which is seldom shown so fearlessly and instantaneously except by children.

SupermassiveLBD · 31/03/2011 21:07

Tell it to us, Mrs G!

TheSmallPrint · 31/03/2011 21:08

When RA walked in for that audition they must have just known instantly. He fitsthat discription perfectly.

SupermassiveLBD · 31/03/2011 21:14

Who else could have done it?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/03/2011 21:14

Small - I did not take any video or pics because (a) as you surmise I am a good person and did not want to be man-handled out of the theatre by the lovely Mr Spacey and (b) my phone is barely capable of that sort of hi tech stuff. I refute the accusation of sneakiness, but I would have felt a fool if I had announced 'yippee, I'm going to see The Man' only to find that the rumours of his appearance were greatly exaggerated.

Massive - Quoi de neuf is still current usage, surely, as in véhicules neufs et occasions? Anyway, sadly, rien de neuf with the telly. We have been spun a number of implausible yarns about the availability or not of said telly but still no date for when we'll have it. Ugh.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/03/2011 21:15

Does anyone else feel the need for some Polish cordial?

Where is the Twigster tonight?

SupermassiveLBD · 31/03/2011 21:15

I hope Dixon gave the common room floor a good sweep today, what with all of us ladies spending so much time stretched out on the Aubusson

TheSmallPrint · 31/03/2011 21:17

Oh Maud you know I'm teasing!!

SupermassiveLBD · 31/03/2011 21:21

Throaty cinema trailer voice:

They said it didn't exist.

They followed the trail over six continents

And feared nevurr to reach their goal

The Once and Future Telly

I s'pose as the last time I visited la belle France was barely this side of the Norman Conquest, I haven't much idea of current French usage anyway. Though I did remember the Pont Neuf, after I'd posted, and reflected that it couldn't be the bridge next to Pont Huit.

I am now in bed watching Women in Love (at last) with tea, chocolate & a hot water bottle Smile, so off comma for a bit.

Did I mention I've got Shakespeare Retold to look forward to at the weekend?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/03/2011 21:25

Yes, I know, Small, but I was trying to enter into the spirit of the thing. Speaking of spirits, ::swigs Wine Polish cordial::.

Who would voice that trailer, Massive? Any suggestions?

::nonchalant expression::
