Well, Small, I gather from my extensive reading of the weekend papers that there are bespoke wallpaper companies which will make wallpaper from your own images.

Do we already have curtains? I thought we might use this - as a repeating print it might almost look like the work of William Morris.

TheSmallPrint · 01/03/2011 15:58

I don't know what it is about that photo but it makes me very wibbly.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 01/03/2011 16:00

Ah. That might be the drawback of those curtains - permanent unconsciousness on the part of some Academicians.

Can one of the Spooks specialists tell me which episode it's from? It's the sleazy Russian bar, nyet?

TheSmallPrint · 01/03/2011 16:03

It would be very dark in the common room though Maud, what with the curtains being permanantly drawn.

I wish I knew where it was from but alas I do not. Must be series 8?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 01/03/2011 16:07

I'm just being lazy, Small. If I knew which episode it was from I'd look for any other, similar images. As Spooks is only my subsidiary research topic I CBA do not have time in my research programme to trawl through every episode.

What a pity we didn't have these curtains through those loooong winter nights. But may I suggest the cushion-strapped-to-the-head look is not very becoming and you might fare better if you position yourself in front of Mr Porter the chaise longue if you're feeling enervated?

DumSpiroSpero · 01/03/2011 16:11

I think it's from one of the latter episodes of Series 7, but wouldn't swear to it.

It's the picture I always have in my head when I think of Guy Thornton-North Grin

Saw this, Spiro, and thought of you

TheSmallPrint · 01/03/2011 16:18

I think perhaps positioning myself on the chaise longue is a good idea Maud, particularly if Mr Porter is there too. Just to hold the smelling salts you understand.

TheSmallPrint · 01/03/2011 16:18

Maud! You could have at least waited until I got to the chaise longue!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 01/03/2011 16:19

A profile like that should be carved on a cameo

TheSmallPrint · 01/03/2011 16:19
BessiesGrand · 01/03/2011 16:22

Found it all on my own. Watch N&S several years ago with no particular ill effects but then watched it recently and went wha? The usual thing--teacups, cravats, and trains or Mr. Thornton in a tizzy richardarmitagecentral.co.uk/d/125176-1/vlcsnap-00345.jpg. Have gone on to research other specialties since then.

TheSmallPrint · 01/03/2011 16:26

Well you're in the right place then Bessie.

Is it dinner time yet?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 01/03/2011 16:27

Bessie, I like you. A lot. Here is the welcome pack for new students.

Small - I opened that link just as Edith Piaf started to warble Je Ne Regrette Rien, which is so not the music for Lucas.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 01/03/2011 16:28

Well, that gets the Academy Award for most suggestive gesture with a fork.

::Scorches a large hole in the ironing::

TheSmallPrint · 01/03/2011 16:29

On the other hand it could be perfect for Lucas in series 9.

TheSmallPrint · 01/03/2011 16:29
TheSmallPrint · 01/03/2011 16:30

Sorry, I was taken over by Spiro's spirit then Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 01/03/2011 16:44

Do you think so? It seems to me that Lucas regrette beaucoup et est plein d'angoisse existentielle.

::Ponces off to Department of French Philosophy, while averting her eyes from the sight of Small disporting herself on the Academy Wedgewood in a most immodest manner::

::Pauses a moment to admire that sinewy hand::

TheSmallPrint · 01/03/2011 16:47

Well yes and no, I think he only regrets it once it becomes out of his control an goes a bit pear shaped. Although I accept that I could be entirely wrong.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 01/03/2011 16:59

I see what you mean, but even earlier encounters - such as his meeting with Eliseveta - seem to be tinged with regret of some sort. But what do I know? Lit crit isn't really my forte.

::Imagines Small doing a burlesque fan dance, only this time using Spode dinner plates::

TheSmallPrint · 01/03/2011 17:15

I think that he likes to think he has no regrets but his night time anguish lets us know the truth .

BessiesGrand · 01/03/2011 17:21

The poor boy could use some comforting. I can't understand why they didn't do better in that department. They really let the side down, I think. There were surely some lovely possibilities.
