LOL at "gives good cravat"! I just looked at your "very few do it better link", Maud, and Miss Twiglets said "ooh, is that Guy?!" :)

MrsLucasNorth · 14/02/2011 07:22

Another one converted to the cause then Twigs Grin

Morning, Happy Valentines Day one and all. thanks for the vid DJ Maud.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 14/02/2011 10:13

DJ Maud is in da house.

::strikes hip-hop pose::

:;dislocates shoulder::

Err, I don't suppose anyone can recommend a good doctor?

Glad you liked the vid, Small. Mmm, those cookies do look yummy.

PassTheTwiglets · 14/02/2011 10:32

Maud, sorry to hear about your shoulder. I've found the perfect doctor for you though. He is very Thorntonesque here, don't you think?

Thanks for the Valentine vid. Gosh, the boys are going to be busy on Twitter today, aren't they? I see that JP is no longer speaking to TTL though :(

This morning I am busy planning MissTwiglets' surprise Disneyland Paris trip for her birthday in a few weeks time. Did I mention that? We aren't telling her until the day we go - I'm so excited :)

PassTheTwiglets · 14/02/2011 10:33

Oh and at the yummy cookies :)
Shame I'm on a diet. Maybe just a little nibble...

TheSmallPrint · 14/02/2011 11:00

Twigs that sounds fab, we were considering it for DS1 but I was too mean and actually he really wanted a party (I told him he couldn't have both). His suggestion is that we go for DS2s birthday instead. He's not stupid that boy.

I am more and more convince that the twitter boys are actually 10 years old.

PassTheTwiglets · 14/02/2011 11:13

LOL, how clever of DS1 :o

Re. Twitter, I'm more and more convinced that they are youngish girls. Boys don't do that sniping about each other thing as much as girls, do they?

TheSmallPrint · 14/02/2011 11:56

Well, having been surrounded by teenage boys when I went to university (it was a 1:15 ratio girls to boys!) I would suggest that boys can be far bitchier and more petty than girls!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 14/02/2011 12:40

Taking things in reverse order ... Small, there was a 1:15 ratio at university? Was that at architecture school? I knew quite a few architecture students and never realised how boy-heavy the subject was! (I was in a department where 75% of the students were girrrls).

Every recent mention of twitter on here has made me glad I don't participate with any of the am dram impersonation stuff. What with the skirmishes between the characters and all the angst over blocking and unblocking it does sound more like the infants' playground. I'm almost nostalgic for TTL and his double entendres.

Twiggy - The first time we went to DLand Paree we didn't tell GardenGirl where we were going until we were about five miles away. We kept telling her that we were going to the Bucket Museum, to see a fascinating display of buckets through the ages (which is pretty much what we do do, the rest of the year).

And, yes, that doctor bears an uncanny resemblance to my dear, dear Johnnie. Amor vincit omnia.

PassTheTwiglets · 14/02/2011 12:52

LOL at Bucket Museum :) What was GardenGirl's reaction when you told her? I was torn about whether to tell MissTwiglets in advance or not, as I think it's so lovely to have something like that to look forward to - but then I wanted to see the look on her face. Every other time we've told her beforehand and there will be plenty more trips over the years (I'm as addicted as she is) so this one time can be a surprise. Good Lord, how am I going to pack everything on the quiet though?!

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 14/02/2011 12:56

Twitter can be amazingly good fun, but it's very hard to explain it to someone who doesn't use it, or only uses it occasionally. Irrespective if all the antics, I love it!!! It helps to have enough followers to be able to get a response from others.

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 14/02/2011 12:58

Well, of course, the notion of a Bucket Museum was hard to swallow even for her and once you get anywhere near the peripherique there are lots of signposts bearing Mickey Mouse's ears, so the game was pretty much up. Even so, we deliberately didn't announce where we were going because we wanted it to be delightful surprise. Of course, she was overjoyed when we 'fessed up.

MrsLucasNorth · 14/02/2011 13:00

Ooooh, Twigs, Dr Thortonesque is v. scrummy!

Can't watch the vids as I'm at work - will have to see if I can sneak off onto the PC later Grin!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 14/02/2011 13:00

Oh, I know what Twitter's all about and use it quite a bit, Phoenix, but almost entirely to follow professional contacts. I don't permit them to follow me!

TheSmallPrint · 14/02/2011 13:18

Yes Maud, that is correct, very boy heavy and testosterone fuelled but not in a good way.

Twigs I think when you're packing just tell her you are going to visit granny or something and then tell her once you pull up to the train station where you are really going. She will then still have some exciting anticpation before she actually arrives.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 14/02/2011 13:20

But that's just it, Maud, you are not getting the full picture of Twitter if you don't let people follow you, because who will be reading your tweets (or maybe you don't do them). I have three Twitter accounts but I restrict my fangirling to just one. My others are virtually unused. But I too like to follow some professional contacts like you, so I use them. But I usually rely on LinkedIn for professional contacts in any case (at least for those I know personally). I also use different names on all three accounts and I don't follow myself.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 14/02/2011 13:31

Yes, but this is what I'm trying to say, Phoenix. Twitter can be (almost) all manner of things to all manner of people. You use it in a way that suits you. I use it in a way that suits me and nothing I've heard or seen recently makes me want to diversify. It's kinda like Simon and Garfunkel said

I got all the news I need from the weather report.

Oh dear, Small, that sounds a bit like a friend's experience at the Royal School of Mines. Testosterone overload. Did you never contemplate switching to (random guess) Medieval Literature? And is the profession itself any better?

PassTheTwiglets · 14/02/2011 13:38

I think I need another Twitter account - I have to be good on my one :o

Small, that's a great idea! It will be a double surprise for her because Nanny & Grandad are coming too and we won't tell her that until she sees them on the train. Thwey will be getting on in London so when we get on a few stops later, they'll be on the train already - MissTwiglets will FREAK :)

Twiglets are on special offer today. Buy one, get one free

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 14/02/2011 13:48

::titter:: at Twiggy's BOGOF.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 14/02/2011 13:53

Are you getting your five a day?

SupermassiveLBD · 14/02/2011 13:53

Happy Valentine's, ladies. No prize for guessing who our Valentine is, eh?

I've had a quick read through and will post properly when I get my breath back.

But remember my dishwasher? We finally got it back a few hours ago.

SupermassiveLBD · 14/02/2011 13:57

Hmm, do Maz's pupils look a tad dilated at the thought of five a day of that kind?
