Would you like a glass of Chateau Gizzy?

are we supposed to be looking at the outstretched hand or the acres of lace up leather

Either or both, MrsLN, I am an equal opportunities wibbler.

What happened with your H? sounds ominous...

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 13/02/2011 18:37

I daren't question the hubby (how I hate and destest the use of DH - ugh!!) on his knowledge of my "interest"... he knows that I am "interested"...but I don't think he hows exactly "how interested" I am....

The trickiest times for me are where there is something on the TV which I HAVE to watch on first broadcast. It's like there is this elephant in the room that everyone is pretending to ignore!

Phoenix - I agree. I think one has to invent a name for one's spouse - as you know, mine's current incarnation is The Gardener - because all the alternatives (DH, hubby, other half ::pauses to vomit::) are just so grim.

Just remembered that we never watched last week's wildlife thing. Was it worth it, voiceover aside?

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 13/02/2011 18:58

I watched Elsa - it was worth watching, I remember Born Free, Living Free (the TV series) as a child, it was quite a big thing for a while, so it was interesting to see some of the real story. Definitely worth a watch, either way.

Agh. Another instance where : next to a ) gives an unintended and inappropriate smiley.

Will the Baftas be on the telly? Is ::picks words with care:: your chap there? I have a vague feeling a former colleague of mine used to go, years ago.

TheSmallPrint · 13/02/2011 19:26

Oh Mrs LN, hope you are not getting too much grief from your H, perhaps he has found you MN name and thinks you are trying to tell him something! Grin

DH Mr Small (who's over 6ft tall) half watched N&S and just commented on the amount of people who died!

PassTheTwiglets · 13/02/2011 19:37

That's what MissTwiglets thought too, Small! I may have mentioned it at the time but when they were doing Hamlet at school a few weeks ago, when basically everyone dies at the end, she remarked "goodness, this is worth than North & South!" :)

Btw, I am now going to back to my football fan days and have invented a new chant: "Mr Smaaall, he's 6 feet taaall..."

PassTheTwiglets · 13/02/2011 19:38

Oh and yes, Baftas are on telly - can't wait! We have the Wine all ready :) It's been an inordinately long day. Why is that time at indoor adventure playgrounds goes at half speed?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 13/02/2011 19:46

Tee hee at all these young ladies conversant with the high points of English literature.

Twiggy. Footie supporter? Pray tell all. Small will correct me if I'm wrong but, as I recall, it should be

"Mr Smaaaall, he's 6 and a half feet taaaaall"

::Wonders what is more polite - to swoon or not to swoon over another lady's husband::

TheSmallPrint · 13/02/2011 19:58

Maud you are almost correct, just an inch below! You can swoon all you like, I'm sure he would greatly appreciate it Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 13/02/2011 20:02

Um, well, I was speaking in round figures. I do have a bit of a thang for tall gentlemen, so I'll just have a teeny-weeny bijou swoonette at the thought of 6 foot 5 inches. Although I am quite sure that Mr Small has other things going for him too.

Chateau Gizzy Wine anyone?

SupermassiveLBD · 13/02/2011 20:10

Ooh, thanks, Maud

By jove, I needed that, after all that talk of footie. This used to be just about the only place I could escape it. stern stare

Re tall gentlemen, did you know you age faster, the further away from the earth's surface you are? Not many people realise that.

Also, a while ago Ron Wotsit tweeted that it's already Feb 14 in NZ...

For a mine of useless information, check out Massive's posts.

PassTheTwiglets · 13/02/2011 20:15

I know Maud, but the "and a half" bit didn't scan nicely :)

Oh yes, I was a biiiiig footie fan back in the day. I used to have a season tickret at Spurs. I lost interest years ago though and couldn't tell you a thing about football now.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 13/02/2011 20:17

::clinks glasses with Massive::

Ah, but I don't want to talk about footie (get enough of that at home emoticon) but I am interested in the, ahem, sociology of football. I want to hear about Twiggy's experience of being a fangirl.

Interesting thing about ageing. I should remain youthful forever then.

::derisive snort::

At the Baftas - let's hear it for our boy

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 13/02/2011 20:19

Oh Twiggy. Spurs? Spurs? I am so disappointed in you.

::Is gagged and wrestled to the floor by Massive::

::That's enough football talk. Ed::

PassTheTwiglets · 13/02/2011 20:27

Oh what a fabulous photo of The Firthmeister

Arsenal fans in your house, I take it then, Maud? I got out of it mainly because it was becoming too important to me. My whole mood would be dictated by whether my boys won or lost and I was getting too emotionally involved in it. I've had this obsessive streak, as evidenced by these threads :o

PassTheTwiglets · 13/02/2011 20:28

meant to say "I've always had an obsessive streak"...

SupermassiveLBD · 13/02/2011 20:29

Yet another chemise noire Maud, I see. Could it be catching?

I wonder if the ladies will have really nice frocks on at the Baftas? I hope not, then I can carp and not feel jealous. Hopefully we will see lots of bulges untamed by Spanx, and wall to wall VPL ( Not to be confused with SMFV)

MrsLucasNorth · 13/02/2011 20:30

SmallPrint - if only it was my Mumsnet name he'd found. He had spotted the thread running through my recent Amazon deliveries and turned a blind eye, but undeleted fanfic browsing history Blush

I guess it's the male equivalent of finding a pile of Mayfair mags under the mattress...

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 13/02/2011 20:36

You've rumbled me, Twiggy. I am surrounded by Gooners here. I have been to some of their big matches but really the whole business leaves me cold. It was different a few years ago, though.

Mr Firth is just so niiiice, isn't he? If he wins, we should all .

SupermassiveLBD · 13/02/2011 20:37

Oh Sad MrsLN, are you okay?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 13/02/2011 20:38

Oh Lordy, MrsLN. Has there been a big row? Would some Chateau Wine Gizzy help?

MrsLucasNorth · 13/02/2011 20:44

As you may have gathered all has not exactly been a bed of roses in the 'North' household of late, so yes, big row followed by heart-to-heart (tbh his little 'discovery' was the least of it).

Hopefully turned a corner & moving on now Smile

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 13/02/2011 20:48

"undeleted fanfic browsing history" gulp!

Courage, MrsLN! We are with you!
