Do come in. It's never too late to enrol. We have an extensive programme of rigorous academic study and a never-ending supply of Chateau Gizzy and ratafia biscuits.

No, I am watching the Natural World on iPlayer...Grin

PassTheTwiglets · 02/02/2011 07:15

Hello, lovely students! I have been quite absent lately, just popping in here and there during the day. We've been watching Spooks in the evening and I can't laptop whilst that's on as I need all my concentration! Poor DH, having me ask "who's that? Why did he do that? What just happened? What did that mean?" ad infinitum...! Mind you, this is what DD is like with RH and it drives me nuts! She is a very bright girl but she just can't seem to follow stories on film/TV very well - I don't think it helps that they mumble and the sound is so inconsistent on RH. I'm constantly turning the sound right up to hear the speech and then turning it down when the music blasts out. Did anybody else find that?

As for pushing 40 - I've pushed it, hit it, and overtaken it :)

MrsLucasNorth · 02/02/2011 08:08

Morning Twigs! We've had some v. good research materials over the last few days for you to catch up on! Grin

I've been reading everything, just haven't had time to join in! Some very good research materials, I thoroughly concur :)

TheSmallPrint · 02/02/2011 09:27

Morning all, I may have to refresh my memory with some of yesterday's research. I may be some time. Grin

Theresaholeinyourmind · 02/02/2011 12:00

Morning, All. Though I suppose it's nearly afternoon. Twigs, always a pleasure, I sympathise with your RL problems as MrTheresa is working from home a lot these days and the contant stream of conscious witter he seems to feel the need of keeping up does my head in. Poor man, he's only being companionable, too Wink

Hello, Small. Enjoy yesterday's rubbish garnerings!

PassTheTwiglets · 02/02/2011 15:25

Have just been painting a window to the dulcet tones of Monsieur Armitage reading to me. Mmmm, Sylvester...

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 02/02/2011 15:54

Sylvester is looking particularly handsome this aafternoon

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 02/02/2011 16:03

Ha ha! How is Sylvester for thud factor I wonder? I wouldn't like to do any fine brush work while listening to LOTN, for instance, I'd keep going over the edges during the good bits.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 02/02/2011 16:10

Our innovative and penetrating research dismissed as rubbish, Theresa? Well, really!

I laughed out loud today when, unbidden, I remembered your advising me to run my hands under Mr Thornton's floppy white shirt and feel his hot breath on my neck.

Oh, no, what a shame about The Rover Now they're saying not likely this year Sad

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 02/02/2011 17:17

It was just a random, unprompted thought, Theresa, and all the funnier for it!

Isn't rubbish what's left over, destined for the tip, once all the valuable, recyclable resources have been carted away to be turned into eco-friendly goodliness?

Who's saying no Rover this year? That impeccable and infallible source, Kevin and Perry on Twitter? Anyway, I have long believed that The Rover is like the Richard III project - something that will be delightful if it ever comes off but one should not hold one's breath for it.

OP posts:
MrsLucasNorth · 02/02/2011 17:20

I wasn't anticipating the Rover til early next year anyway. Better than, "yes we're doing it but with someone else"

Theresaholeinyourmind · 02/02/2011 17:28

Hmm who was it on Twitter? According that place that has all the lovely screencaps, it was someone called Sandra at the ETT. Grin

I have finally managed to find out which series of Spooks the international Beeb will be regaling us with. It's series 5.

itsalarf · 02/02/2011 18:04

Techno, what are you doing enticing us with links, and then it is Sylvester! Am feeling we are not going to get a single sighting in the near future. Remind me why we were going to hang around the Globe theatre. I've forgotten and will be there soon.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 02/02/2011 18:53

Itsalarf - If you want a thread wholly devoted to attentive worship of the Deity, I think you need to go to one of the dedicated fan sites. It's when we go off piste or indulge in flights of slightly unhinged Polish cordial-fuelled fancy that this thread is most interesting. Well, for me anyway. ::wink::

I think the thinking behind the Globe theatre stake-out was that he is patron of some project there so [first leap of logic] is bound to go there regularly for meetings and [next leap of logic] will tread the boards there. I suspect that hanging round Wellington airport might have greater chances of success.

Evening all! Bit later at work today, need to do some research later.

Sylvester definitely has the thud factor IMHO. Several of his speeches definitely have me in a puddle on the floor...

I watched Elsa on the Natural World series last night. Worth a watch - quite an interesting and rather moving story, even without the silver tones of our favourite thespian.

What's this about The Rover being delayed - I guess there just isn't enough time in the summer break, maybe he has to film Strike Back then instead? Must investigate further.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 02/02/2011 20:16

Thanks for the low-down on Sylvester, Phoenix. It sounds good, another item for my list, then. Though not something for clumsy me to do anything that requires reasonable hand-eye coordination while listening to, then.

Twitter is quiet. Whatever is going on? I have started to miss Kevin and Perry Smile
Or maybe they have kicked me out...

TheSmallPrint · 02/02/2011 20:22

What it is to be so popular and so busy, it must be hard.

Evening all, well just spent the last hour and a bit watching Shrek with the smallfolk and singing Stevie Wonder and the Carpenters. Had to explain to DS how I knew all the words to the songs ha ha!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 02/02/2011 20:26

I thought mums knew everything automatically, Small. My lot used to think I did when they were tiddlers. Of course they've been disillusioned since.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 02/02/2011 20:34

Yes, there's a lot of kudos to be got from knowing the songs in film soundtracks.

OP posts:
TheSmallPrint · 02/02/2011 20:41

Sadly the songs were older than me but I remember dancing round the kitchen with mum listening to Jimmy Saville on a Sunday

Has everyone had a good day?

Theresaholeinyourmind · 02/02/2011 20:44

I am expressly forbidden to sing so I can't boost myself in anyone's estimation that way
.
Any news about the horrendous storn in
Queensland, btw? It was sounding like Armageddon according to the BBC World teletext. Horrible for them I know and I tremble at the thought of being in their shoes, but of course I am hoping the weather is far more temperate in NZ.
