Just in case we need new premises tonight... :)

I've just discovered brilliantly funny SB video - by the same person who made I'm a Believer!!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 29/01/2011 23:41

That was wonderful, Phoenix! Great find, Thank you. YT is so slow for me tonight hence the late reaction. But everyone else, do watch right to the very end for an extra little smile Wink

Theresaholeinyourmind · 29/01/2011 23:48

Going to have to call it a day, the eyes are giving out! Remind me not to use that stuff again
Sweet dreams to all. Hope you had a good party Techno.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 29/01/2011 23:58

Night!!

MrsLucasNorth · 30/01/2011 00:03

That was brilliant Phoenix! I love John Porter - gutted he'll barely be in the next series, not just for obvious reasons - there's so much more they could have done with the character.

Well, have finished Revolutionary Road. Not sure if 'enjoyed' is quite the right word, but good story, great cinematography and brilliant acting - I didn't think 'Jack & Rose' once, which given that I was a huge fan of Titanic at the time is quite an achievement.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 30/01/2011 02:03

::Totters in::

The party was indeed marvellous and the dance floor was crowded. My feet hurt so much I may need to see a doctor.

Good night dear ladies.

MrsLucasNorth · 30/01/2011 07:27

Here comes the good doc Techno (albeit off duty but nonetheless...!)

MrsLucasNorth · 30/01/2011 07:35

This will give you a chuckle...

DH collected several of these whilst the Lord of the Rings trilogy was going on.

Do you think they'll make a set for the Hobbit. We can all have our very own Thorin Oakenshield! Grin

PassTheTwiglets · 30/01/2011 07:51

That's a beautiful pic of Dr Track - was RA ever prettier?

Hee hee at the goblets! Mind you, judging by the Aragorn version they don't exactly do the characters justice! I had a major crush on Aragorn from the book, before I ever saw the film...

OP posts:
MrsLucasNorth · 30/01/2011 08:05

Early start with your littlies too then Twigs?

We've got swimming lesson at 8.45...bleurrrgh!

The goblets are more based in the film characters that complete replicas. Tbh I'm not really an ornament person (collection started courtesy of MIL - quelle surprise!), but they are very well done - the gollum one is v. comical.

That Dr T pic is lovely - although his eyes look brown in it?!

PassTheTwiglets · 30/01/2011 08:19

No MrsLN, sadly this is a li-in. DS is usually up at 5.15 Shock DH and I take it in turns to get up with him...

Before you head off for swimming, check out Twitter - Lucas is showering :o

PassTheTwiglets · 30/01/2011 08:21

lie-in, I meant...

Some of you may have heard this before but there's an interesting audio interview where RA talks about reading audiobooks

OP posts:
TheSmallPrint · 30/01/2011 10:03

Morning all. Just catching up quickly on the vids and gossip. Love the I'm a believer one.

Will be out most of the day but will call in when I'm back.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 30/01/2011 12:21

LOL at the goblets from me too!
(The eyes are back, btw. Phew!)
Now, I am Armitage-mad but would I pay nearly a hundred and fifty smackers for a Thorin Oakenshield one? Even without too much of an obscuring beard and twiglets on full alert. Though I see I could order one from my hut in Limpopoland. Thoughtful of them to include us.

Techno, I hope your feets have recovered from their by now

Twiggy, I think I downloaded that interview some time back but never got round to listening to it, so I am hugely grateful to you for bringing it to my notice again. Because it's an immensely intelligent, perceptive and revelatory piece. The bit where he talks about the effect of vibration on the emotions! Not to mention then the bit where he thinks he's not succeeded in doing what he set out to do!

Blush Grin

PassTheTwiglets · 30/01/2011 12:43

LOL, yes the vibration bit cvaught my attention too :)

Phoenix, what's going on on Twitter?! Who's fighting? I don't understand. Not sure if you feel able to share but I'm dying to know what's going on!

PassTheTwiglets · 30/01/2011 12:46

Theresa, I liked your pantomime reference. May I therefore add... It's behind you!

:o

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 30/01/2011 13:01

Twigs, I also liked the bit where he talks about the importance of words, and finding exactly the right one, because I love words myself an awful lot --the sound of them, and the meaning of them and the shades of meaning you can get from words that are almost synonyms, but not quite.

Re his success in making the music of it all sound right, I think he'd have a fit if he knew just how well he was doing Blush Grin

MrsLucasNorth · 30/01/2011 13:02

Love the audiobook interview - have listened to that a few times since discovering it a couple of months ago.

The pewter goblets were about half that price when DH started collecting them - I think MIL bought most of them. I'm not into ornaments personally - too much dusting involved and I'm far too lazy to make any more housework for myself than absolutely necessary!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 30/01/2011 13:21

I am with you on the subject of ornaments, MrsLN. People are always giving them to me too. So recently I decided to shove them all in a cupboard and only bring the relevent one out when the donator comes to call.

TBH I don't think I'd buy one of those goblets if they were about 50p. If I want tacky, I'd rather buy a little plastic Guy. Providing he came with his sword and pose-able Richie of course.

MrsLucasNorth · 30/01/2011 13:48

The workmanship is good, but my in-laws have very appalling strange taste on the whole.

They are in a cabinet in the living room, so not too noticeable...Grin

The only ornaments I own are little bits and bobs distant family members have given me for various significant birthdays - they are in various boxes in the loft. I am after a digital photo frame next so I only have to have 1 instead of the dozen or so scattered round the house at the mo.

Don't even get me started on dh's sports trophies Angry

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 30/01/2011 14:08

Not been on Twitter since last night...?

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 30/01/2011 14:17

Yeah, I'm not too keen on meaningless ornaments either though I know lots are - I don't mind a genuine artwork, but in our house these are all paintings and prints of photos by my husband, not allowed anything else!

In my daughters room is a different matter though - she loves all her nick nacks...

PassTheTwiglets · 30/01/2011 14:52

Oh YES, Phoenix, what is it with daughters and nick-knacks?! Mine is awful for it - you can't see her windowsill for all her crap treasured posessions. I was just the same when I was little.

Re. Twitter - John Porter seems upset by 2 people feuding; I think it has something to do with Lucas. I think I know the 2 involved (maybe shoudln't say on here) but I'm not following them so have no idea what happened. I'm just nosey :)

Theresa, I'm quite obsessed with words too. To which Dr Twigs would say "I know you are, you never bloody stop talking" :o In another life I would've loved to study etymology. This is as well as my other lives where I am a geologist and an astronomer and a personal assistant to Pretty Spy Men.

OP posts:
MrsLucasNorth · 30/01/2011 15:25

I wish it was just the windowsill in my dd's room that I couldn't see for bits & bobs. If she's been up there for any length of time I'm lucky if I can see the carpet or find the bed!
