Just in case we need new premises tonight... :)

We won't know quiz rounds until we get there, Theresa. Am very excited though, as it's a 45 mins drive away (going with my parents) and I've just realised I can listen to A Convenient Marriage on the way :)

Small, so you're out of luck with two series, poor you! Could try cancelling and re-ordering from play.com or somewhere else, perhaps?

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 25/01/2011 17:05

Am glad to report that the telly has landed, but I am completely flummoxed by the number of leads which seem to lead nowhere, so have been a total girlie and given up, leaving it for MrTechno to sort out.

:: hopes Germaine Greer is not looking in>>

Theresaholeinyourmind · 25/01/2011 17:17

Glad to hear your tidings re televisual equipment, Techno. I would be just the same about leads etc and so, ha ha would Mr T. So we are reduced to getting men, in for all except stuff which can be done with the remote -- and some of that too sometimes. Took me ages to work out how to retune the channels.

Small, I feel sort of guilty about your Spooks as I guess I am one of the people who used up Amazon's stocks

PassTheTwiglets · 25/01/2011 17:25

Sorting out leads is definitely a blue job, not a pink job.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 25/01/2011 17:34

Hmm. For a further small sum I could get lovely TV artisan to come and reconnect it all, but I won't admit defeat yet.

Twiggy - You are far too young to be spouting such retrograde sexist nonsense. Away with you!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 25/01/2011 17:40

Yes, ladies,if it's a blue job, what does that make Mr-electrically-challenged-Theresa? Have I been married to a woman all these years Shock

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 25/01/2011 17:43

I am sure MrTheresa is gifted in many other ways not involving the management of audio-visual equipment. And surely you would have noticed by now if he was actually a lady?

Theresaholeinyourmind · 25/01/2011 17:51

I hsve to say he's useless with a screw-driver, full stop. but as you say he has other talents. And then there's the footie addiction. A clue? Yes...

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 25/01/2011 20:08

The earlier debate about gender identity made me think of this.

::Remembers that when she did a psychological test, the assessor looked at her answers and said "but only men ever get that score"::

Theresaholeinyourmind · 25/01/2011 20:19

Looks fascinating. I didn't know about that particular example, Techno, but lots of women did similar in different professsions didn't they?

I was just about to pick up on something I just learned on Twitter. Mr Armitage is narrating an episode of The Natural World next Tuesday. Elsa the Lion,David Attenborough and the Voice! What an emotive combination.

Maybe someone will out up and mp3 fime of it some day, but meanwhille there's a few seconds here

Theresaholeinyourmind · 25/01/2011 20:24

Or words to that effect, should have proof read, grrr.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 25/01/2011 20:34

Sounds like Small's favourite Wild At Heart with added phwoaarr roar.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 25/01/2011 20:39

Attenborough talks about the Elsa story in his biog, which I have as an audiobook, and it's so unlike the one you are led to expect from the original story and the film. He felt very deeply about it all, you can hear it in his voice. So I don't think they could have got a better narrator to revisit the saga.

MrsLucasNorth · 25/01/2011 20:39

Reporting for duty, having combined family meal out with a bit of research. My aunt & ex-military uncle came to visit. He has watched both Strikeback and Ultimate Force - the former is very well done apparently, and the latter, Series 2 contains a fair bit of Our Bloke, so another one for the shopping list of those of us who can stomach it.

I have also learnt that if Ros was a better shot, she could have taken out siege bloke without killing Jo in the process, and the 3 places to shoot someone in order to take out their central nervous system and prevent deliberate or reflex reactions that could pull a trigger or hit a detonator switch!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 25/01/2011 20:44

This was one of the women I was thinking of earlier, James Miranda Barry.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 25/01/2011 20:48

Yes, and I have a very vague memory that there's a similar case associated with the American civil war.

I know how to kill someone with a matchbox.

::Applies for a job on The Grid::

Theresaholeinyourmind · 25/01/2011 20:51

Did your uncle realise why the sudden interest in matters military, MrsLN? Must have done if he was telling you how much Armitage UF2 contains.

That was interesting, about the shooting. Should come in useful if you want to do any Spooks fanfic, or something more professional.

MrsLucasNorth · 25/01/2011 21:01

I told him why the interest - he laughed his arse off. He is ex SF himself, hence his interest, although he's also a total softie at home Smile.

I must admit I was quite fascinated with all the guns and bullets stuff, which is weird as I can't bear gratuitous violence in films/tv.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 25/01/2011 21:04
LaVieEnTechnicolor · 25/01/2011 21:04

I can't bear gratuitous violence in films/tv. Oh really?

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 25/01/2011 21:05

::Techno once walked round Hereford::

Theresaholeinyourmind · 25/01/2011 21:07

At least that's a nicer pic than the one where he looks as if he's been well basted and spit roasted, Techno. Lookit dem arms

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 25/01/2011 21:13

Quite. I wouldn't have posted the spit-roast one.

I just found something which may be of interest to scholars of classical civilisation.

MrsLucasNorth · 25/01/2011 21:18

I don't think defending your country or rescuing innocent people from mad depots constitutes gratuitous violence.

And my other point was the same as Theresa's those arms are a fantasy in themselves...

MrsLucasNorth · 25/01/2011 21:19

Despots not depots Grin
