Oh, Sir Pip's sense , of course

However, after that last vid, I think I've changed my mind.

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 22:34

You forget I am a veteran of three series of RH and the Morte D'Arthur (although admittedly I did give up on the M D'A at the bit where someone is smote over the head with a sword and his body splits unto his sternum or somesuch).

Well I can certainly see why those opening shots have left you all a-tremble.

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 22:37

Ah, but for Mr Thornton to act even remotely like Lovelace would be so out of character that he would no longer be Mr Be Still My Beating Heart Thornton.

I think I'm in heaven. Soaking in the bath with guy vid on phone & Lucas on portable dvd player!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/01/2011 22:40

I suppose medieval times were a time of much smiting generally. Like biblical ones. Nowadays they do away with you in more weasly ways.
I like the way the vid is edited, very much. It tells a good story. He'a bit of handful, isn't he, with that temper?

MrsLucasNorth · 04/01/2011 22:41

Flowers - have you heard Venetia? Damerel hits a very nice middle ground.Smile

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/01/2011 22:44

Ooo-er, MrsLN that sounds positively decadent. I hope it's a big bath.

Flowers, Mr Thornton is all yours, whatever mode he is in. I'll just take the guy with the big sword.

PassTheTwiglets · 04/01/2011 22:44

Damerel? Did somebody ring my bell? :)

Theresa, I thudded -at-- admired that Guy On Fire vid!

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 22:46

A bit of a handful? As I've said before, despite the inherent ridiculousness of applying 21st century diagnoses to a 12th century character, I think he's a psychopath. Though not displeasing to the eye.

I am saving Venetia until everyone's back at work and school and I have some quiet time in the house. Oh yes.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/01/2011 22:47

So glad you enjoyd it, Twiggy.
I keep resisting making the ''are you just pleased to see me'' quip but I can hold out no longer. Sorry ladies

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 22:49

I'm happy to share him, Theresa, in a multiple universes kind of way, so that I have his undivided attention.

Oooh. Watching the end of The Girl with the Pearl Earring. It's Our Colin with long hair. Not a displeasing sight.

PrairieOyster · 04/01/2011 22:57

Man on Fire

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/01/2011 22:58

Go ahead and enjoy, Flowers, I love to indulge in purely intellectual swooning myself. Little Mr Byrne from Holby City is an absolute sweetie, at least back here in the strange past world of the international Beeb.. .. (don't tell me he's a serial killer now)

Saving Venetia sounds like a good idea. I know I haven't done it justice, nor LOTN

PrairieOyster · 04/01/2011 22:58

Naughty naughty Teri - er - I was going to ask you a question but I've just lost the capacity for coherent thought

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/01/2011 23:01

Nice, isn't it, Oyster?

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 23:02

I know nothing of Holby City. The only medical drama I've ever watched is ER. Purely for Clooney dramaturgical reasons.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/01/2011 23:04

The vid, I meant

PrairieOyster · 04/01/2011 23:04

Girl with a Pearl Earring - beautifully shot movie - went to a Q&A with the director, screenwriter and cast. Colin Firth v good but I was unable to forget it was Colin Firth. I've seen The King's Speech and he is also good in that but IMHO his career defining performance is still A Single Man. But he might get the Oscar this year anyway. Depends on the competition.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/01/2011 23:06

Oh, I diagnose all our family ailemnets, thanks to the expertise I've picked up from watching medical dramas. No wonder I'm so at ease with all the slashing and cutting in RH etc.

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 23:11

I guess the challenge of making a film about Vermeer is that it has to be perfectly shot, or the incongruity would be too jarring. A Single Man is on my wish list. I was hoping to see The King's Speech tonight but now that we no longer live at the London Film Festival (those were the days) I have to wait for it to be on general release, which seems to be Friday.

PrairieOyster · 04/01/2011 23:16

Ha! I watched The King's Speech in the comfort of my own home!

PrairieOyster · 04/01/2011 23:18

And perfectly legitimately I hasten to add!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/01/2011 23:19

We do get a few clips of new films on BBC World's film program, Talking Movies. But have to wait for the movies. And then they only bring the big block-busters over here. The King's Speech sounded really fascinating, though.

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 23:20

I was going to say lucky you, but I actually prefer seeing films in the cinema on a huge screen and without other distractions such as MN. Festival screenings with swoonworthy actors in the room are a bonus too!

PrairieOyster · 04/01/2011 23:21

Talking Movies is quite good - Tom Brooke, isn't it?
