You are in the industry, Oyster, non?

PrairieOyster · 04/01/2011 23:25

I've been to quite a few Q&As with swoonworthy actors, none since I had kids alas - but I'm sure I will again. We have a projector and screen which is not bad. North and South is quite a treat on it!

PrairieOyster · 04/01/2011 23:28

No I'm not, but hubby has membership of a certain club which brings rather good member benefits...which I can generally share in.

Yes, that's right, Tom Brooke. His moustache is quite something!

N&S on a big screen? Yum! I just have to sit right close up to our telly.

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 23:34

Ah but distance lends enchantment to the view. Get too close and it's just a mass of pixels!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/01/2011 23:38

Well, I don't exactly lick the screen, you know, Flowers.
TBH our telly is not a bad size, you can see all the detail you'd ever want to see.

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 23:43

You know, I deliberately omitted any reference to licking the screen as I didn't want to lower the tone. We have quite a small telly as we didn't want it looming over the room - and we spend every evening singing en famille around the fortepiano, anyway - but have recently decided that we're going to get a bigger one.

PrairieOyster · 04/01/2011 23:45

Might have to retire...

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/01/2011 23:49

A bigger fortepiano or a bigger famille ?
Then there are your canasta parties.

Our telly is pretty new, our old one was practically musueum quality, we finally gave up when the only colour we got on it was green.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/01/2011 23:50

As in go to bed, Oyster? If so, a peaceful night. If not tell us more!

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/01/2011 23:54

A bigger telly. Have no intention of getting a bigger famille (and will, ahem, invite special guests to make up the numbers for canasta parties). Existing telly will go into our boo-dwarr and current boo-dwarr telly will probably go to museum/telly graveyard aka the tip.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/01/2011 23:59

That special guest looks as if canasta is the last thing on his mind. Don't say I didn't warn you.

When we got our new telly we thought it was too big at first, after squinting for years at the old one, but now we almost wish we'd bought the next size up.

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/01/2011 00:03

Hmm. That seems to be a common phenomenon and I expect it'll be the same for us after years of our small but perfectly proportioned telly. There's no polite way to ask, but how big is yours?

Theresaholeinyourmind · 05/01/2011 00:07

Shades of those emails that always zip straight into one's spam folder.

It's 46 inches. The boys look splendiferous on it.

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/01/2011 00:12

Indeed. Now, 46 inches is far bigger than I was contemplating. Is it really not overwhelming? Then again, room sizes in Limpopoland may well be bigger than in a poky Victorian abode.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 05/01/2011 00:19

It's qite a big room, I must admit. But half of it is sort of partioned off as a dining area, which makes the seating part quite intimate.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 05/01/2011 00:23

Yawning here, I was up very late last night so will have to say goodnight. As alwaya, sweet dreams.. Of brand new tellys perhaps, on which to watch dazzling DVDs

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/01/2011 00:25

I think I'm going to have to make a toy 46" telly out of cardboard and see how it looks. I could paste Mr Thornton's picture to it as a rehearsal for the real thing. Yum.

Speaking of yum. I was thinking today about dining rooms. We are a bit quaint, I fear, in still having one. Most of our friends have ditched it in favour of snooker tables, pianos or undefined space.

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/01/2011 00:28

Yup, this international travel has tired me out. Here's looking at you, kid.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 05/01/2011 00:28

What a good idea.

How do you fancy Mr Armitage as James Bond? I don't see it myself but he's won a poll on the topic.

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/01/2011 00:34

No, I don't quite see it either, but then, I am content with Mr Craig in that role. Anyway, the answer to the question how do I fancy Mr Armitage? is as Mr Thornton.

And on so, on that note, to bed.

PassTheTwiglets · 05/01/2011 07:13

I think he is more of a Bond baddie than Bond himself.

46 inches, Theresa, golly! I remember when we got our 32" it seemed huuuuge but now it just looks tiny. We really want a new one but have very expensive holiday to pay for in Feb - we're surprising DD with a Disneyland Paris trip for her birthday!

FLowers, LOL at your toy telly with a pic of Mr Thornton on it!

I'd forgotten all about A Single Man! I really wanted to watch that. Will have to get The Hubster to locate it.

MrsLucasNorth · 05/01/2011 07:37

Morning! Just catching up from last night. Out internet connection is playing up at the mo so am dipping in and out on my mobile which is costing a small fortune. New monthly allowance starts today though thank goodness!

Mr A as Bond? Can't see it myself. Does it make sense if I say I think he's too good an actor to play Bond, who I tend to think of as a bit of a caricature? I think people are being heavily influenced by the 'lucas factor' too and it wouldn't necessarily translate.

I saw the end of Angels & Demons the other day though, and thought he'd make a good Robert Langdon if Tom Banks wasn't up for doing the The Lost Symbol (which I'm fairly certain is going to be made into a film).

MrsLucasNorth · 05/01/2011 07:39

Tom Hanks obviously...

PrairieOyster · 05/01/2011 08:33

I think he would be able to play Bond but having already played Lucas North and John Porter, well, I agree it would start to seem a bit samey... Plus commitment for several movies...not sure I like that. Personally I think they will probably cast Clive Owen next (unless he's getting too old) as they usually pick someone who has been on the consideration list before. A Bond baddie would be good - but perhaps the Spooks association could scupper that..? Who knows?

I'm sure he'll be signed up to do another movie as soon as The Hobbit finishes, but we'll have to wait and see what that will be. Something that isn't part of a major film franchise would be my preference.
