Welcome to our newest faculty building. Make yourselves comfortable and ignore the smell of paint. We cannot keep up with the demand for new premises.

Btw Missy, I forgot to mentions that Toby Stephens is in Strike Back too.

PassTheTwiglets · 15/12/2010 10:15

Fair do's, Missy, good point.

StripeyMoon · 15/12/2010 10:18

must be Sting.

He's the only pop star I can think of who has children!

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 15/12/2010 10:24

Oh. The X Factor is a televisual treat which I have never sampled. I prefer a nice game of canasta, myself.

Oh Lordy, now Toby Stephens has been mentioned. Yet more diversity. He's really not a research interest of mine - he's in that category where I can see that other ladies might wish to study him, albeit I have no strong desire to do so myself (even though his Mr Rochester was rather swoonsome, as far as Mr Rochester ever can be). And the forum where ladies were getting very excited at the idea of him rolling around half-naked in the dirt brought tears of laughter to my eyes.

On the other hand, does he wear SAS uniform in Strike Back? That might make a difference.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 15/12/2010 10:26

I don't think Sting would live in our neck of the woods. Nowhere to park his helicopter.

PassTheTwiglets · 15/12/2010 10:31

No, Sting's kids go to the same school as Ross's kids in Friends :)

StripeyMoon · 15/12/2010 10:39

No Missy he plays a horrible American CIA type. No uniform for him. I thought you were an admirer, if it wasn't you then who was it? Confused

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 15/12/2010 10:47

Well, I suppose I am, within the very limited terms described above! I think he is good at his craft, but he doesn't make me go weak at the knees (although, again, I can see why he might have that effect on others).

How did you like my Sting clip?

StripeyMoon · 15/12/2010 10:51

I love that clip but I also went on to watch the Daniel Craig one which is very funny too (and I am not an admirer).

Theresahollyinyourmind · 15/12/2010 10:55

I have not been right since that vid of Missy's, last night. Argh. But, to quote the poet, what a lovely way to burn

OP posts:
asmallbunchofmistletoe · 15/12/2010 10:56

The Daniel Craig Comic Relief sketch? Yes, 'tis very funny. And, once more, I award Mr Craig lots of credit for being such a good sport.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 15/12/2010 11:02

Hello, Holly. You'll notice that Stripey has opened the window here, to let in some air, although I can't hear any nightingale. I do envy you your nightingale.

Hmm. It's true that Guy misses out on most of the fun. But then, dear dear John and dear, dear Claude weren't even invited to the party for pretty obvious reasons. Who, by the way, was that strumpet ripping off his shirt, all backlit in 80s pop promo stylee? Was that from Strike Back, Stripey?

I'm making very slow progress with the ironing here, because I'm searching YT for Dennis Potter clips. Any fans of Potter here?

StripeyMoon · 15/12/2010 11:12

Yes that was dream sequence when he was in jail in South Africa Missy. Why do I always want to say South Africa in a south African accent?

StripeyMoon · 15/12/2010 11:13

Not a Potter fan here I'm afraid. Only Porter Grin.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 15/12/2010 11:17

Glad to see, Stripey, that there is no Porter question on which you have to pass!

I do the South Efrica thing too. Oh dear.

StripeyMoon · 15/12/2010 11:18

Even when you're writing it? I do.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 15/12/2010 11:25

No nightingale here now, either. I expect he's tucked up in bed after a hard night's entertaining a mad woman who stays up till stupid o'clock, dreaming daft dreams.

But he was more than magificent, last night. Incredible that so much sound could come from one tiny throat. Next time I hear him, I shall wrap him up and present him to you. And I am sure there will be many more, for anyone else who needs one.

I was wondering about the shirt-stripping strumpet, too. How crass, but understandable. The third thing I noticed last night is what a lovely big armful he makes

As for John and Claude, I take comfort in the fact that the former is well enough catered for. Claude is a unknown quantity I must say. The squirrel has deterred me from inquiring too closely.

Off now to hack my way through the jungle to the trading post. If I am not back by nightfall, send out search parties.

PS Who is Dennis Potter?

OP posts:
Theresahollyinyourmind · 15/12/2010 11:31

He he, if that's the sort of dream JP has, it explains his ink-blot test results

I say South Efrica too

OP posts:
asmallbunchofmistletoe · 15/12/2010 11:59

Well of course you say South Efrika, Holly. You live on that continent, after all.

A cursory search through the archive suggests that Claude is not unsuccessful with the ladies. I do hope that Santa will be bringing me some Impressionist magic.

Dennis Potter was a playwright and dramatist, much of whose work was at least semi-autobiographical and contained references to the films and music of his youth. I haven't seen since 1994 but was riveted at the time. was considered quite risque in its day.

Good luck, Holly, with the expedition to the trading post. I must do likewise soon.

MrsLucasNorthPole · 15/12/2010 12:03

It's as much a flash back as a dream though isn't it - and happens after the ink blot test (in fact doesn't he actually see some 'action' as a result of the test, not t'other way round?)

And Stripey - Clearly you think/say South Efricacos you've been watching far too much Strikeback Xmas Grin!

StripeyMoon · 15/12/2010 12:04

Well if you two are orf then I must do some work instead of whiling away the hours swooning over muscles quality acting.

StripeyMoon · 15/12/2010 12:06

Mrs LN I think that it is a fantasy / dream about what happened after the ink blot yes, but he is asleep on his bunk in prison. He has a nasty wake up from it if you remember?

I have south Efrican friends too Mrs LN, none of it helps me break the habit! Grin

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 15/12/2010 12:08

Here's a not-so-little something to tide you over, Stripey. But don't you have a building to design or something?

MrsLucasNorthPole · 15/12/2010 12:09

Yes I remember the very nasty wake up call - not nice waking up from those kind of dreams at the best of times but that was pretty grim...

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 15/12/2010 12:10

Oh, and my other foible is saying "I had a farrrm in Arrrrfrica" in the manner of Meryl Streep in Out of Africa.

I'll get my coat.
