Welcome to the new common room! Grab yourself some Twiglets and a glass of Chateau Gisborne or some Polish Cordial and come on in - the water's lovely!

Petulant little... need I go on?

MrsLucasNorth · 05/12/2010 16:08

Boden - my Shaky days are long behind me as you know, and anyway, I have a very high embarrassment threshold!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 05/12/2010 17:02

I hope you don't mind my using your patent phrase, Mrs LN, but it's just so right.

Bodenbabe · 05/12/2010 17:32

MrsLN, I know but I couldn't resist :) In the interests of fair play, my first crush was Johnny Ball. Suffice to say we're equal :)

Oh God, I meant to say about the PLFW thing. You know how sometimes you have a little snippet of a song stuck in your head? Well from about 4am this morning I had PLFW stuck on loop for hours!!

I used to have a little thing for Mr Flynn, many moons ago. His autobiography made very interesting reading...

I think it was the pageboy hairdo that put me off, Boden.

Of course I was Shock at their Gizzy. All those flashy colours, oh no no no.

Did you see that RL Russian sleeper agent's photo I linked to earlier? She looked so like Sarah Caulfield.

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 17:49

Well, Offspring has wandered off somewhere so I have discarded her High School Musical dvd and replaced it with the third in a series of tutorials about the development of the trade union movement in the cotton industry. This one is entitled The eyes are the window of the soul: The cares of a northern mill-owner at a time of industrial conflict.

I am feeling so much better now that my first crush was Robert Redford.

MrsLucasNorth · 05/12/2010 17:55

I think I had a little thing for Adam Ant prior to Shaky which had more street credit but was probably discouraged by my mum, given that I was about 5 at the time Grin

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 17:58

I have Prince Charming on my iPod.

StripeyMoon · 05/12/2010 18:09

Flowers I had a huge crush on RR when I was about 12. He was a very handsome man to be fair.

Shakey? Not in this or any lifetime I'm afraid! Grin

MrsLucasNorth · 05/12/2010 18:18

C'mon I was teeny!

Not sure if now's a good time to admit that I'm still harbouring slightly impure thoughts about Mr Standring of Sparkhouse Blush!

Seriously, how can someone actually make that character fanciable? Captain America is the right place for RA - am starting to think he has superpowers Grin!

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 18:19

For Stripey

So it's the laughter we will remember, whenever we remember the way we were

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 18:23

Returning to one of yesterday's topics, incontrovertible, conclusive evidence of the magnetic powers of the well-cultivated moustache.

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 18:27

Thuderama

Bodenbabe · 05/12/2010 18:42

I think Shakey was quite popular with the girls at the time actually, so we shouldn't mock! (it's just such fun :o) I feel old now though - I liked Adam Ant too but I was waaaay older than 5 :) Robert Redford was undeniably beautiful but he was always of the 'too pretty to be fanciable' ilk for me (see also Brad Pitt). He was lovely in Barefoot In The Park though, I did like him in that. No, if we're talking seminal childhood crushes then it was only ever Simon LeBon for me. Aaahhh, Simon - face of an angel, voice of a strangled ferret...

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 18:49

Robert Redford was never, repeat never, too pretty to be fanciable. I refer you to Butch Cassidy and to The Way We Were.

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 19:04

Sorry for the short delay in acknowledging that wondrous gift, Theresa. I was watching the Climactic Moment of North and South and it has taken me a while to compose myself.

On the whole, I agree about the charms of dark-haired gentlemen. But I make an exception for Mr Redford and Mr Craig as Commander Bond.

I have a little curiosity to show, recently excavated from the darkest recesses of the basement. Now, if you were guessing what Guy would be in the 21st century, what would you suggest? Mercenary? Gigolo? Or ?

Bodenbabe · 05/12/2010 19:19

Oh YES to Mr Craig as James Bond! He was incredible. As was the shower-head-cradling moment which linked to earlier - always wonderful to see that again! I started reading the Ian Fleming books after watching Casino Royale and, interestingly, I automatically picture Daniel Craig as I'm reading them, except for the ones which Sean Connery was Bond. But every other one is Craig, in my head even the ones where I've seen actors play the role.

Hurrah! I just won the RA eps of Vic Of Dib for a pittance! Can justify it that way :) Besides, DH is going to be travelling a bit in the coming weeks and I will need something to watch if I can't watch Spooks! (as we're watching that together).

There are quite a lot of Robin Hood archive vids set to Grease music if you have a mine....

While waiting for YT to get its act together, I have been reviewing this exteremly important I located earlier. It really gives a comprehensive view of the Armitage Ouevre. Why, there's even a shot I have been looking for for days. A smiley Guy.

I think mercenary is a good bet for a modern day career. He has the looks for a gigolo, fair enough, but not the finesse.

Looking forward to seeing him hit the surf and impress all the beach bunnies. He'll be a bit hot in the leather, though, better invest in some baggies. Cowabunga!

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 19:34

Commander Bond in Casino Royale is, in my humble opinion, beyond phwooar. It's that combination of dispatching the villains single-handed and then, ahem, knowing how to be attentive to a lady.

Actually, Boden . As this comes so soon after spending two hours with Mr Thornton, all I can do is

.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 05/12/2010 19:41

I'm picking up good vibRAtions
He's giving me the excitations

Thanks, Flowers! Fringe flop, horseriding, what more could you want?

Good good good good vibRAtions

Theresaholeinyourmind · 05/12/2010 19:48

Oh well, I suppose Mr Bond does have it over Guy there, nice singlehanded dispatching if not fussy about moral infamy of dispatchee, shame about the attentiveness to ladies bit.

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 20:05

That catalogue was most interesting, Theresa. I do think we have to heart him a bit for doing the CBeebies bedtime hour. And the brief moment from Cleopatra answers earlier questions about Roman costume.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 05/12/2010 20:43

Very festive, Flowers. And clever match of video to lyrics. The Thornton's chocs and the mittens, ha ha!
Mr Armitage on the Muppets Show, now how would that play? Miss Piggy would go bananas.

What did you think about the Roman costume, thumbs up or down? YT has been affected by the big freeze I think, it's flowing slower than glass so I shall have to wait to check that out again till tomorrow.
