Welcome to the new common room! Grab yourself some Twiglets and a glass of Chateau Gisborne or some Polish Cordial and come on in - the water's lovely!

They are rather swoon-tastic, aren't they?
And here from the down and dirty department is ravishing Guy

Good night and sweet Marlborough Mill dreams

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 00:35

Now that is the face of a Very Naughty Boy.

Sweet dreams.

Bodenbabe · 05/12/2010 11:04

Good morning, all! Gosh, it's just taken me about an hour to catch up on last night's tutorial! Some excellent work was done, I see. supermassive Black Hole is faaaaaaaabulous, some of my favourite Guy moments in that one (though they cut off the Fringe Flop, harumph). Just one question though - speaking as we were of psuedo-bliss,

I missed the origination of the cling-film reference - what was that about?

MrsLN, congrats on the BTS purchase! I am sorely tempted to follow suit but it is quite pricey and I feel I've seen the best bits in the archive. It may be worth the money to hear RA use my RL name though :) Think I will order the Vic of Dib Harry episodes though as it's under a fiver. He is adorable, isn't he? Oh and Theresa, you taught me a new word there - grok. Love it! I thought it was a typo at first but Google proved otherwise :) Is it a verb or a noun though? Do I grok at something or do I have grok? The screaming made me hoot with laughter, anyhow.

I have 2 offerings for you today. I really like , there are some new clips in it and some lovely shots of Smiley Lucas which make a nice change.

And finally, There are some spoilers from the middle series of Spooks here (wish I hadn't seen some of them so avoid if you are bothered by that). Also the end is rather maudlin, but the rest was good and some nice matching of lyrics to visuals.

Hello, Boden. How was your trip to the metropolis yesterday?

Those are lovely. I loooove Summer Spooks - the scene where Tom is cradling a laydee I can't identify in his arms reminds me of this wibble-inducing scene. Like you, I am awaiting the tutorial in the Modern Languages department on correct usage of the work grok).

I have just been asked whether I am Offspring's grandmother.

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 12:48

Oh and the clingfilm reference is because - for no reason apparent to me - Danny brandishes a huge roll of the stuff in Greased Lightning.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 05/12/2010 13:16

Hello Boden, what a diligent staff member you are! We had so much fun with our studies last night and I'm pleased it proved of such value to you today.

I didn't notice the absence of the fringe-flop which was most remiss of me. I do rather like it myself as it adds to the male stripper youthful insouciance air of the scene.

2.01 had quite escaped me, too. Your powers of observance are a great asset to the faculty. I can advance no other theories other than chocolate. Of some kind.

The cling-film was from the Grease vid which showed another John cavorting around a pink Caddy brandishing a roll of it, for reasons we couldn't fathom.

Grok -- well, I do have a non-techological kinda geeky love of SF. It's a transitive verb, in that you grok something. As in I grok Mr Thornton, for example. It's a sort of understanding that is beyond understanding, you ''get'' the concept at its deepest levels

Your Grease vid was excellent, loved the lyric-matching --''a boy, as cute as could be'' ha ha! Definitely one to watch again and again especially for fans of earlier series' heroes

So was the shoe one --I even loved the vid maker's logo. Grin A smiling Lucas indeed, a very rare nugget in a selection of new things and old things. I have been trying to deconstruct The Walk. Is it because he doesn't bend his knees too much? I can't decide...

Well, back to the grindstone but of course I shan't be able to resist peeking here every now and then.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 05/12/2010 13:18

Oh, hello Flowers, I missed you while I was in the throes of composition.

You got there before me with the cling-film.

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 13:37

Hello, Theresha.

Bodenbabe · 05/12/2010 13:40

Aha, thanks for the clingfilm explanation. I've always hated it when he rubs the clingfilm there - is that supposed to be sexy? Urgh, it just makes me feel vaguely queasy.

Is grok a 'proper' word or a SF word then?

Yes, that vid maker's logo made me smile too!

Flowers, a big fat raspberry to that person! If it makes you feel better, I've been offered many a seat on a train 'because it's polite to offer a pregnant woman a seat' - despite not actually being pregnant :)

London was pretty awful, Flowers! I had expected it to be busy but not that busy! The eldest MiniBoden was her usual nightmareish self (moaning, fussing, complaining) and the Rainforest Cafe was scarily expensive and not even that good - I could've bought a proper Prada shirt for that! Went looking for some Lucas clone clothes for DH but no luck. However, did see Shakin' Stevens in M&S which amsued me no end.

Tee hee, I was desperately hoping that the archive would have had an RA vid with some Shakin' Stevens music (a long shot, to say the least!) and then I was going to say to you all "Wow, guess who I saw in London today?!?!" and link to said vid. You would all be amazingly Envy, assuming I meant RA and then I was going to clarify that it was Shaky :)

Although I hear on the grapevine that some of our number may have been a little Envy at me seeing Shaky anyway. Not naming any names but you know who you are.

Which reminds me, how are you today, MrsLN? :o

Hello Flowersh!
To make you feel better I shall now relate one of the (many)backhanded compliments I have received in my time, this from a soi-disant friend of a friend, some time ago.
''Ooh, you look so young --from behind''
Oh, and I was also once taken for the mother of my cousin, who is older than me.

Eww, thank goodness I was unobservant yesterday and missed the clingfilm rubbing. I thought he might want it to set his hair-dye or something. He is too slim to use it for spare tyre reduction after all.

What a shame there was no RA/SS vids on YT, they quite spoilt your status report. I have never seen anyone who is anyone in M&S, if that is any comfort.

Is grok a proper word? I think you might find it in the OED these days, though it is supposed to be Martian.. It was invented in the 60's by Robert Heinlein, and still used by the geekier members of the human race, as far as I, an expat here on the Limpopo, can tell.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 05/12/2010 14:05

The shecond half of that misshive was addresshed to Boden, obvioushly.

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 14:15

Oh, Boden I didn't want to rain on your parade by saying that the West End's so called attractions in the run up to Christmas are far from attractive. Here, have a soothing lavender compress. Shakin' Stevens? Words fail me.

I am feeling a little stronger now. Strong enough, in fact, to pogo around the common room during the seminar on . Boys, eh?

Bodenbabe · 05/12/2010 14:35

S'ok, I didn't see you saying that anyway, Flowers - must have passed me by in one of my wibbling moments :) I remember going to London with my parents to look at the window displays and loving it. But as we refused to take them to Hamleys there was only really Selfridges to look at. I worked near Oxford Street for years and don't remember it ever being that busy but I guess I was only there Mon-Fri and Saturdays are bound to be 10xworse.

Grok is Martian? I shall never use it again :o

Must go and attend to the small boy now as the poor love has been watching TV most of the day [bad Mummy emoticon] but can't wait to see that your Heroes & Villains vid, Flowers!

Spooky news in the papers today btw Who does this remind you of?

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 14:39

No, I never said it, Boden because I thought it would sound mean.

Martian? Well, it could have been Klingon.

Nannoo, nannoo.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 05/12/2010 14:52

Heghlu'meH QaQ jajvam

Today is a good day to die.

Little John was a Klingon, I swear it.

StripeyMoon · 05/12/2010 14:54

Just place marking, I have no time to archive lately I suspect I will get a D for this term's work.

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 14:59

Are you there, Theresa? I have an inflammatory treat for you.

So sit down and pay attention to my latest seminar.

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 15:05

Hello Stripey. This is the sort of college, I fear, where nobody ever fails the course. 'Tis the Academy California - you can check out any time you like but you can never fail leave.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 05/12/2010 15:07

Wilco, Captain Flowers, I have some stuff to attend to myself first, however. While I do so I shall be musing on a new research topic to answer the burning question: is it sword action in general that shivers the lady's timbers or is it combatant-specific?

.

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 15:14

Theresa - That is indeed a pressing matter for research. I have just spent some of the Academy's acquisitions budget on this , which might be helpful for comparative purposes.

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 15:41

Completely off-topic .

Theresaholeinyourmind · 05/12/2010 15:51

Oh, I say , those black and white stripey tights are rather ooo, are they not? In an eew sort of way.

I must say I like a nice swashbuckle in general, but it does seem to depend on the hunkiness of the buckler. I am aware this may be heresy but Errol as RH is another PLFW

asmallbunchofflowers · 05/12/2010 16:00

PLFW? Dare I ask?
