You know, Mme O, I am wondering whether I shall ever be able to watch Spooks 9. Or RH 3. I have the series 2 finale to get through at the weekend and I am bricking it.

But then you all know what a daft mare I am.

asmallbunchofflowers · 24/11/2010 14:20

Congratulations, MadameOvary. Are you willing to publicise it here, once published? And do please tell me the story of your MN name. (Madame B was probably my favourite book until displaced by North and South).

Coo, Theresa. Just as I was trying to avoid all housework I have split my stew over my lap and the sofa. You could power the national grid off the electricity in that vid.

And apologies for posting the link to Sub-Optimal Guy.

No probs, Flowers. It wasn't awful, just not quite right. And I was revivified by the copious botty-moments in the vid.
No furniture malfunctions here, thankfully, but then I knew what was coming. Ahem.

To recover, I need a cup of tea or .

Why Theresa? Is it because you cant bear to see Lucas fail so spectacularly? Or some other more obvious reason dim emoticom

Flowers, I am probably too modest and (honestly) think no-one will be interested. I certainly dont have the massive ego needed to be a poet Grin

And as for my name, um...I'm afraid it was inspired by Posy Simmonds book "Gemma Bovery" not the original. Sorry!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 24/11/2010 14:30

Ah, the cup that cheers but does not inebriate.., Have you noticed the sneaky inclusion of the flames behind that closeup of their hands on the cup and saucer?

MadameOvary · 24/11/2010 14:32

Ooh, that was niiiiice Flowers {grin]
However, spoiled by the fact that in many frames he looks like...he looks like...arg I cant say it! Confused

asmallbunchofflowers · 24/11/2010 14:34

I don't think I could face the series 9 Spooks vids, either. I find virtually all the Lucas vids incredibly sad now. With the benefit of hindsight, Don't Call My Name (for example) is elegiac.

I weep for Adonais - he is dead!
O, weep for Adonais! though our tears
Thaw not the frost which binds so dear a head!

MO, as I am always stating, I am a sucker for a sob story, I take even fictional ones far too seriously and I can't stand to see ''someone'' I have come to care about in pain. Shock Blush

So transfer a bit of your more level-headed attitude to me Grin

asmallbunchofflowers · 24/11/2010 14:37

Yeah, it's ya symbolism, innit? Slow burning love and fiery passion.

Had largely forgotten about the near-invisible Mrs Hale, but she was there on Sunday too, with Mr Hale (but not in the same play).

Theresaholeinyourmind · 24/11/2010 14:37

Oh Flowers, bless you, I thought I was the only soft touch round here.

PrairieOyster · 24/11/2010 14:38

One of the Spooks 9 vids made me cry, I'm afraid to say.

Yes I wept.

I can post the link but it is spoiler heavy so don't really want to.

asmallbunchofflowers · 24/11/2010 14:38

MadameOvary - Spill! You can't make allusions like that and leave me on tenterhooks.

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 24/11/2010 14:38

I don't suppose Mrs Hale was able to command much of your attention. In either circumstance.

MadameOvary · 24/11/2010 14:39

Actually, Theresa, that abandonment to emotion is essential if you are to enjoy good drama.
Anyway, who said I was level-headed? I will be blubbing along with the rest of you Grin

MadameOvary · 24/11/2010 14:41

Ok Flowers

I couldn't help it Blush

Theresaholeinyourmind · 24/11/2010 14:47

Nice outfit there, MO, I must admit but shame about the rest.

asmallbunchofflowers · 24/11/2010 14:50

Well, Theresa, I think in the book and tv adaptation Mrs Hale is more of an influence than a presence, as she spends most of her time being ill and secluded and having Margaret run errands on her behalf - errands which, of course, draw her more into Mr Thornton's magnetic orbit.

Actually, on Sunday she was in rather a good play with Paterson Joseph, who in the introductory film had revealed himself to speak excellent French, which always make me go a little weak at the knees. (Think Otto and the Italian in A Fish Called Wanda). The play was about a possibly excessively-devoted fan who goes to visit her favourite author (Mr Joseph) at a time when his relationship is fast disintegrating. His Russian ex-lover - played by the preternaturally beautiful Natascha McElhone - then turns up and interrogates the fan about who she is, asking with a sneer "Do you write bloggy?". Which gave me pause for thought. Hmm.

MadameOvary! Get thee to an optician pronto!

Quick! Someone bring me the bottle of Polish cordial and a straw.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 24/11/2010 14:58

Sorry I misrepresented you yet again, Flowers, I should have known you would never be so mesmerised by a chiselled profile as to be unaware of the subtle currents of characterisation and plot.

I fail to see the relevence of excessively devoted fans, however. Quel horreur!

Theresa - Like all 21st century women, I am adept at multi-tasking. Which meant that I was able fully to attend to the play while mulling over the one before it, which had starred some bloke I vaguely recognised off the telly. Besides, the Chiselled Profile had not by that point taken up position near me.

But, dear me, it was the intonation with which she said do you write bloggy?

BodenBabe · 24/11/2010 15:13

Theresa, I have 2 theories as to why Boden stuff doesn't sell so well for older girls. (a) by the time they are 13 they want to choose their own clothes and don't want cutesy-print stuff and (b) when little girls are small you just want to see them in really cute stuff and are willing to pay whatever it takes but by the time they're older you've got over yourself :)

I have a mascara which NEVER runs. I've tried loads and this one was recommended to me and it really, REALLY works. It's not necessarily the best for volume but the run-proof-ness is perfect: Bobbie Brown No Smudge, here you go Unless you mean they all make your eyes water in which case this will be no help!

That teacup scene is so powerful. Oddly, that's the first N&S clip with audio that I have ever seen (have been trying to avoid spoilers). When their fingers touch the tension is palpable. Reminds me of Willy Wonka - "the suspense is terrible - I hope it will last".
