I didn't know that Willy Wonka quote, Boden. It's so apt!

This is itself a spoiler but it is utterly swoonworthy. . Watch it if you dare.

It's the eyes watering scenario, I am afraid, Boden :(

Apologies btw for my brief absence, I had to make a quick dash up to the castle to snatch triumph from disaster in the catering department. The kitchen wenches there make Dixon look like Raymond Blanc, I just caught one of them trying to fish a large rat out of Guy's pottage.

Leave that for the sheriff and start a fresh pot, I told her. It's well worth my looking after his interests down here, I always put in an extra shake of cinnaman and he always come down and expresses his appreciation. Apparently I know just how he likes it Wink

BodenBabe · 24/11/2010 15:31

Fettle, lovely to see you!

Flowers, that is adorable. I am quite worried what N&S is going to do to me. OH and I love the look at 2'04", after the speech is finished

Feel a bit of a dunce quoting Willy Wonka when you lot all quote Cicero, Byron et al :)

Googled it to find a clip and it was apparently Oscar Wilde who said it first (they obvisouly added it in for the film). Does it still count as being cultured if you quote Oscar Wilde unwittingly?

Theresaholeinyourmind · 24/11/2010 15:40

Boden, we get all our quotes from the same section of the library as you do. Google.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 24/11/2010 15:45

Oh, Flowers. Mrs G and RA. Words can never express...

asmallbunchofflowers · 24/11/2010 15:47

So glad you liked the clip, Boden. The Willy Wonka/Oscar Wilde quote was fab. Nothing dunce like at all. It's all about the diversity of our source materials and their relevance, isn't it? (And although I have unfollowed TeenageTwitterLucas, I still follow Phil O'Sophy).

Careful, Theresa, remember how Guy traduced the kitchen girl and left the baby to die in the forest, the bounder.

Fettle - So good to see you, although as we've already had 200+ posts of twaddle erudite discussion I guess it won't be very long until we decamp again. I am so glad that the Thornton Massive is expanding so quickly.

I have just had my own domestic disaster. Overdid the document shredding and now the shredder is overheated and won't work until it's cooled down. A bit like me after watching those last clips.

Now, Theresa, where did I leave that mop?

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 24/11/2010 15:55

Maybe I should have left the rat in, then, Flowers.
But worry not, I am a Mature Woman and I know to handle Bad Boys like him. Promise much but deliver little. And extra cinnamon is no big deal.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 24/11/2010 15:57

Grin at the infamous mop. Leave him alone!

BodenBabe · 24/11/2010 15:58

Bless you all. It still says something that I know it only from Willy Wonka rather than Oscar Wilde though :) A bit embarrassing actually as it's apparently from The Importance Of Being Earnest, which I did for A level so really should have remembered it!

Heh, you know that Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon thing? (the title of which makes me giggle every time I hear it). Well in MiniB's Dr Who magazine there were pictures of various characters from a Sarah Jane Adventures episode. One was Maya from Spooks and the other was whatsherface from Between The Sheets (Aliona/Alona/Alawhatever)!

asmallbunchofflowers · 24/11/2010 16:01

The mop was to deal with the puddle of goo sliding across the faculty floor but I see that, mirabile dictu, you are healed, Theresa.

Right. Need to attend briefly to RL, so will leave you all a little snack, in case anyone is feeling peckish. I just found this vast bag of Bombay mix but take care - it's .

StripeyMoon · 24/11/2010 16:32

I can't belive we are nearly a quarter of the way through this thread already Shock.

Thought the following might provoke some interesting discussion:

MrsLucasNorth · 24/11/2010 16:50

There is a lot of crossover between the actors he's worked with or on the same progs as i've noticed.
Colin Salmon in Spooks and Strikeback, Keeley Hawks (Dibley & Spooks) and sounds like half the cast of N &S were at the Old Vic on Sunday.

Looking forward to reading the learned cravat dissertation. I am thinking of redoing a short paper I did earlier on the influence of Pre-Rafaelite equestrian portraits on the Minghella cinematography: The Bad Lancelot

Finally I managed to examine the material MO provided for us and what can I say except

STUPID GIRL

BodenBabe · 24/11/2010 17:45

LOL, I just remarked to DH that it was annoying that nobody had answered my query on another Mumsnet thread. He replied "maybe you ought to retitle it 'Richard Armitage wants to know...' :o

MadameOvary · 24/11/2010 17:50

GrinBoden

PrairieOyster · 24/11/2010 18:41

Boden, you have watched North and South haven't you?

Regarding cast crossovers there is also Shaun Parkes who was in Marie Lloyd and Strike Back, and David Harewood who was in Robin Hood and Strike Back.

PrairieOyster · 24/11/2010 19:15

Also Toby Stephens in Robin Hood and Strike Back (though they had no scenes together in SB) - also William Houston in North and South (Boucher) and Robin Hood, and Brian Protheroe in Spooks and Strike Back (Mr Bell) and Alun Armstrong in Between the Sheets and Sparkhouse (and of course his son Joe was in Robin Hood) and also Ewan Bremner in Strike Back and Spooks, and Hermione Norris in Cold Feet and Spooks and there will also be James Besbitt in Cold Feet and the Hobbit. Wow! Any more?

PrairieOyster · 24/11/2010 19:16

James Nesbitt I meant!

PrairieOyster · 24/11/2010 19:56

There's more - Holly Granger in Sparkhouse (Lisa) and Robin Hood (Meg)

He also worked with Sophia Myles in Spooks and on stage in The Four Alice Bakers.
