Hi all - just checking in for a mo as am off in a couple of hours for best mate's wedding tomorrow. Back Saturday night - looks like I'll have some catching up to do - thank God DH is going out Grin!

BodenBabe · 25/11/2010 16:05

Bye MrsLN, have a fun time! See you on Saturday.

asmallbunchofflowers · 25/11/2010 16:32

Perhaps I will write something tonight about the removal of gloves and the use of teeth for that purpose. But (in a nutshell) I suspect it's a sort of visual shorthand for sauciness (think Betty Boop, Jessica Rabbit and burlesque).

Boden, I dont do Topcashback, probably should but am Trying Not To Buy Anything Online right now as things got v. silly a wee while ago.
Was looking for discount code tho, couldnt find one (meh emoticom)

Have fun MrsLN!

Thanks for Lucas + Glove moment Grin

Yes the Prada news is v. funny. They clearly don't know it's because of the Lucas effect (or so MO likes to think)

BodenBabe · 25/11/2010 17:08

There are a fair few other similar coats on the Debs website, MO. Oddly the one I linked to above doesn't appear if you go via Mens then Coats... topcashback is fab, I've saved heaps on there.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 25/11/2010 17:34

Re the glove manoeuvre, I doubt Flowers does it to be saucy, though it could be she has missed all the men swooning at the sight because she's been too busy thinking of Art and Literature to notice.

Maybe after all it's just an indication that you need to take your glove off but your other hand is already occupied with keys, sonic screwdrivers, etc etc.

I would say that was the case with Lucas. Not sure about Mr FAF though. Wink

asmallbunchofflowers · 25/11/2010 18:24

Hmm. I have been devoting some more thought to this whole glove removal Ishoo. I think that when people do it spontaneously or casually it no doubt is because their other hand is occupied with their keys, small child, sonic screwdriver or the like. There may be circumstances, though where the glove removal is more calculated and . Why removing a glove should be (or have the potential to be) exciting I don't know - maybe it's a remnant of the days when the human body was almost entirely covered for reasons of warmth or modesty and any exposure of that which was usually covered was therefore quite noteworthy and a little thrilling?

So, I'm left wondering how Guy and Lucas' glove removal was scripted. Did the script say Guy/Lucas removes glove and that just happens to be how Mr Armitage chose to do it? Or did the script say Guy/Lucas removes glove with his teeth. [This will get the middle aged ladies a-quiver]?

I do love the deep philosophical discussions we have on here. Of course I could point out the fact that it's not so much that a glove is removed that is saucy, as the method of so doing-- akin to the apple biting, fork sucking, wine sipping, ratafia ingesting and other forms of arch oral activity.

I fear we shall never know the full truth of the matter, Or to paraphrase the poet:
''Ours not to reason why
Ours but to watch and sigh...''

MadameOvary · 25/11/2010 18:42

All ready for the Culture Show ladies?

asmallbunchofflowers · 25/11/2010 18:43

Exactly, Thersa. Unless we get our hands on the scripts, in which case we may discover to what extent our sensibilities have cynically been manipulated by the scriptwriters. And not just method but also manner and demeanour.

Yes, MadameOvary. Am nesting on the sofa with the remote at the ready. How are you? Have you caught up with your homework from yesterday?

OP posts:
MadameOvary · 25/11/2010 18:51

Yes, Flowers, have ignoring small child been studying assiduously all day.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 25/11/2010 18:53

Good luck with that!!!! I have to take a break myself, so see you later

MadameOvary · 25/11/2010 18:56

Ooh yes a look at the scripts would be enlightening I'm sure. I'm thinking lots of hastily pencilled notes...

Sooo jealous of Violin Chick Envy
And we saw only the briefest glimpse of RA, who was dressed in the rehearsing actors uniform of hooded top, jacket and jeans.
I used to dress like that.

asmallbunchofflowers · 25/11/2010 19:14

Oooh, MadameOvary. Are you/were you an Ack-tor?

But the glimpse was delightful, was it not?

MadameOvary · 25/11/2010 19:23

A long time ago Flowers, you can see me in "The Debt Collector" if you don't blink Grin.
That was my world for a while.

MadameOvary · 25/11/2010 19:28

Yes it was delightful - hope Youtube shows more!

asmallbunchofflowers · 25/11/2010 19:29

Good for you. As I mentioned, I never got beyond school plays. Although I've just looked up The Debt Collector and it doesn't end well, does it?

Would anyone like a Polish cordial or a glass of Chateau Gisborne?

PrairieOyster · 25/11/2010 19:54

Saw a couple of pics posted on Twitter - v nice but missed that part of the programme due to overfilled train at Waterloo Station...

This is a flying visit as I am out tonight. Am also out tomorrow night...

He did look lovely though

MadameOvary · 25/11/2010 19:54

It's not the happiest film, no...
Got a cheesy pic of Billy Connolly and myself 'on set' Grin
Y'know, I don't usually drink wine but I'll take a glass of CG in honour of the occasion.

MadameOvary · 25/11/2010 19:56

Oyster, he did indeed look lovely, very much relaxed and "himself". Complete antidote to all the fools and dullards cluttering up the "sleb" circuit.

asmallbunchofflowers · 25/11/2010 20:01

Cin cin, MadameOvary!
