Ex partner was in a&e with whip lash and was giving the Receptionist his details. She asked who was his next of kin and he looked puzzled, so she said do you live together nodding at me. He replied "no she lives in a kennel in the garden" I was livid and the Receptionist just laughed in an embarrassed way. Shame he hadn't broken his neck really! He was such a loser that bloke!

Iklboo · 30/03/2007 14:59

mosschops - would have told that bloke "yes, I stole it while you were busy shagging sheep"

A woman I worked with said "your glasses are on wonky - or is it your face"

margo1974 · 30/03/2007 15:03

Number 5 (I told you I'd be back)

One of the locals used to call me "The Rottweiler" at my Uncles pub

He, a few months later, sent me a dozen roses on several occasions

I think my response to his flirting was a bit aggressive

dionnelorraine · 30/03/2007 15:13

I have to wear a hat / headscarf at the moment. Going through surgery. Anyway a few times at work i have been called a gypsy, fortune teller and a pirate! I took it in my stride and laughed it off. But then I had a lady come in and she was ranting on about something and at the end of her sentence she said 'oh and how unprofessional of you to wear the ridiculous head garment, you look like you should be working in a chip shop, surely your manager isnt allowing you to dress like that!'
How damn rude!!!!!

IntergalEGGticWalrus · 30/03/2007 15:15

I hope you told her to feck orf!

aol · 30/03/2007 15:16

mosschops30 · 30/03/2007 15:16

dl i hope you punched in the bloody face. How can some people be so dam insensitive and rude

dionnelorraine · 30/03/2007 15:17

hmm, I didnt swear (felt like it though) I just calmly explained my situation and her face went red, she turned her nose up and walked out. So I won in the end. Havnt seen her since actually!

IntergalEGGticWalrus · 30/03/2007 15:18

good on you!!!!!!

I bet she felt v uncomfortable

If it was me, I would have just lost my rag

NadineBaggott · 30/03/2007 15:20

from a 'friend'

"yes, you're not bad looking really, you just need your teeth doing"

Well they are all my own but no, they don't look like a perfect row of tombstones and they aren't glow in the dark white but they do the job.

dionnelorraine · 30/03/2007 15:20

I could have lost my rag quite easily. But there were a lot of customers around and she looked really stupid infront of everyone. Quite funny now I look back on it!

At various points in my adult life my mum has made the following helpful observations

  1. You are plump/dumpy
  2. You have a bald patch (hair loss post childbirth)
  3. You have thick forearms
  4. You carry your weight on your thighs
  5. You're getting a double chin
  6. 3 days after giving I'd given birth - 'you need to get back to your exercises'
  7. A week after giving birth and I was wearing a wraparound skirt - is that the only thing that fits you?
xenabelly · 03/04/2007 11:02

my mum once said to me when i was 18...

It was summer and she was sitting next to me and we both had shorts on, she patted my leg and said 'oh, i used to have lovely brown legs like you when i was your age...but mine were thinner' !!??!!

She was mortifed, I don't think she meant to say it outloud, I've never let her forget it!

Blandmum · 03/04/2007 11:16

As a child I came home one week and told my mum that I needed glasses.

the next week the dentist told me I needed braces on my teeth.

One telling my mother she said, so supportivly 'You are going to look a right bloody mess!'

So kind, my mum, so positive and caring for my self confidence
