My sibling is a celebrity AMA

I won’t be saying who they are.

I recently spoke to a friend about it who
had lots of questions which lead to an interesting conversation, things I’d never said or thought about before.

When I was younger I used to feel incredibly jealous of them and had a very short and unsuccessful attempt at creating my own fame.

Now I’m older with my own dc and have seen the effects up close I definitely think the negatives out way the positives and it’s not something I would ever want for my children.

All the pees of people being bitchy because OP won't say who they are 😂

That makes no sense. There are many famous people - often very famous, who manage to have completely private lives as well. I've seen countless very famous people on the tube, for example, and they're left alone.

Yes, I know and see that it can be done by other people although just because you’ve seen them left alone on the tube doesn’t mean they always are. But my sibling has always struggled to create and separate their private life.

If it is Katie Price, that must have been hard having the porn actress Jordan as a sister.

Dont think its KP

Omg. Are you Prince Harry?

That made me smile!

But the OP hasn't said who they are, and isn't getting any money or anything from this.

likeitshard · Yesterday 18:45

Did you try to go into the same field?
Have her children become famous/ followed the same route?

Digerydont · Yesterday 18:45

Sophie Rayworth?

Weeellokthen · Yesterday 18:46

If you are the desperate Amanda Holdens ds, you have my sympathy 😂

Sophie Rayworth?

Who??

We are now, we haven’t always been.

They probably did and we’ve defiantly spoken about it since.

What was the point of being defiant if you're pretty sure they already knew how you felt?

CornishTiger · Yesterday 18:48

Are they are full sibling?

Did your attempt at fame mean you did something jointly with them?

Well, I find that strange because there are countless celebrities about whom we know nothing. We never see their children, we don't know all the details of their lives.
If this person, he/she/they/whatever, wanted to have a private life they could do.
Some people just love being celebrities though.

I meant definitely not defiantly.

Have they been mentioned on this thread?

Who??

I think the PP meant Sophie Raworth, who is a BBC newsreader

So not a very well known Uk celebrity at all then

Digerydont · Yesterday 18:51

ToKittyornottoKitty · Yesterday 18:47

Who??

Typo. Newsreader, quite famous in UK, not in Music or acting.

I once queued up in Boots for a prescription behind Wendy Craig when Butterflies was big. Noone took any notice of her. Back then, people weren't so obsessed with celebs.

Omg. Are you Prince Harry?

And the winner is 🥳

Now come on Harry, time to get over it! You’ve had your 15 mins, you’re not going to be King, you have to accept it 😂

Treebaubles · Yesterday 18:52

Are you the same sex as your sibling?

KermitTheToad · Yesterday 18:52

Well, if they are famous from being on some reality show I wouldn't know them from Adam!

AnnaQuayRules · Yesterday 18:52

One of my friends has a close relative who is super famous. Think Elton John level of fame. I'm always dying to ask her these sorts of questions but never do because that would be intrusive. I don't blame the OP for not naming her sibling but it would be interesting to know what field they are in and how they became famous.

Really not that famous then, and google says her sister is 3 years younger which isn’t a big gap

Digerydont · Yesterday 18:55

The younger sibling is old enough to be on Mumsnet. There are few Mumsnetters younger than 45. The sibling is much older, so 55 - 60.

Yes, that’s why I said they have struggled to separate their private life partly because they didn’t want to or didn’t think they needed to.
The celebrities who have done so will have made a firm decision early on and worked hard at maintaining their private life as well as having others around ensuring it for them.
Once you let people in, it’s very hard to get them back out.
