My sibling is a celebrity AMA

I won’t be saying who they are.

I recently spoke to a friend about it who
had lots of questions which lead to an interesting conversation, things I’d never said or thought about before.

When I was younger I used to feel incredibly jealous of them and had a very short and unsuccessful attempt at creating my own fame.

Now I’m older with my own dc and have seen the effects up close I definitely think the negatives out way the positives and it’s not something I would ever want for my children.

You're not even going to say what sex they are?

In some ways, they had the same normal happy childhood so to me when we are together as a family they are. I knows there’s many other people who know them who would say they are not though, there’s lots of normal adult things they’ve just never experienced so can’t they understand or appreciate them.

Like what? Are they still actively in the public eye?

wendy1288 · Yesterday 17:54

Definitely sounds like Katie price sister

PuppyMonkey · Yesterday 17:54

Have they been on Strictly or I’m a Celeb?

This isn't really an AMA is it? Surely it's not outing to say whether your sibling is in music, acting or something else on TV?

My former neighbour is a TV presenter on regional TV. He has an older sister. Have you worked out who he is yet?

Fred Dineage, obviously.

SwanRose · Yesterday 17:54

I’m guessing it’s just a reality tv person rather than someone with an actual talent but it’s hard to really ask anything without knowing who they are or at the very least what they are famous for.

It's a bit boring not knowing who they are.

If I said who they are then I wouldn’t be able to honestly answer questions about their life and experience of fame and my experience witnessing it.

I know someone distantly whose sibling is a celebrity. It's not easy, I agree.

Has their fame had a negative impact on the way you live your life? Do you have to be very careful about what you say and to whom?

Changeusernames · Yesterday 17:55

Has anyone guessed correctly so far?

Maybe just leave it then.

Well you’re not really doing that so far anyway.

Dontcallmescarface · Yesterday 17:57

Being the continuity announcer on "Dave" doesn't count as being a celebrity. Unless you are prepared to name them then what's the point of this AMA?

HorrorPudding · Yesterday 17:58

@zedtree the hangers-on element interests me. Have you observed weird behaviour around your sibling from others? Have you come across people who change their attitude to you when they discover you have a famous sibling?

I am asking because my children were at school with children of a well known celebrity who I knew before her children started at the school because we were neighbours. I couldn’t believe the undignified adoration and desperation from some to put themselves in her orbit and sudden keenness to be my mate when previously I’d been invisible!

Dozer · Yesterday 17:58

Are they rich? Still working a fair bit?

You imply that they were famous as a DC or teen and that they still are, mainly in the UK, which combined with being recognised frequently suggests TV acting (or if not music).

CariadDarling · Yesterday 17:58

Is it Ant or Dec

incognito1991 · Yesterday 17:58

What’s their rough net worth? And have they helped you financially at all like deposit for a house, holidays etc. have you benefited in any way?

Silverbirchleaf · Yesterday 17:59

If they’re not in music or acting, are they in sport? If so, was it obvious they would be successful? What propelled them to fame, and not you?

IeatPotNoodles · Yesterday 18:00

Katie Price’s sister!

Just say their name then leave the thread, then?

MolkosTeenageAngst · Yesterday 18:01

How old was your sibling when they became famous? Would you say they became famous enough to be easily recognised due to luck, talent or hard work?

I wouldn’t say it’s had a negative impact on the way I’ve lived my life, I just prioritise my privacy, peace and keep my circle small.

Yes, I had a close friend who I found out was giving quotes to a journalist from information I had told them. There’s very few people I would talk to anything private about, no matter how small.

How would that be of any interest? That would just be naming a celebrity.

supersop60 · Yesterday 18:03

Were they famous from childhood, teenage or young adult?
Do they get any kind of private life, or are they constantly followed by media?

BEAchDays2 · Yesterday 18:04

It’s Robson Green. You’ll say it’s not, but I know it is.
