My sibling is a celebrity AMA

I won’t be saying who they are.

I recently spoke to a friend about it who
had lots of questions which lead to an interesting conversation, things I’d never said or thought about before.

When I was younger I used to feel incredibly jealous of them and had a very short and unsuccessful attempt at creating my own fame.

Now I’m older with my own dc and have seen the effects up close I definitely think the negatives out way the positives and it’s not something I would ever want for my children.

I’m guessing it’s just a reality tv person rather than someone with an actual talent but it’s hard to really ask anything without knowing who they are or at the very least what they are famous for.

If I said who they are then I wouldn’t be able to honestly answer questions about their life and experience of fame and my experience witnessing it.

I know someone distantly whose sibling is a celebrity. It's not easy, I agree.

Has their fame had a negative impact on the way you live your life? Do you have to be very careful about what you say and to whom?

@zedtree the hangers-on element interests me. Have you observed weird behaviour around your sibling from others? Have you come across people who change their attitude to you when they discover you have a famous sibling?

I am asking because my children were at school with children of a well known celebrity who I knew before her children started at the school because we were neighbours. I couldn’t believe the undignified adoration and desperation from some to put themselves in her orbit and sudden keenness to be my mate when previously I’d been invisible!

Are they rich? Still working a fair bit?

You imply that they were famous as a DC or teen and that they still are, mainly in the UK, which combined with being recognised frequently suggests TV acting (or if not music).

What’s their rough net worth? And have they helped you financially at all like deposit for a house, holidays etc. have you benefited in any way?

If they’re not in music or acting, are they in sport? If so, was it obvious they would be successful? What propelled them to fame, and not you?

How old was your sibling when they became famous? Would you say they became famous enough to be easily recognised due to luck, talent or hard work?

I wouldn’t say it’s had a negative impact on the way I’ve lived my life, I just prioritise my privacy, peace and keep my circle small.

Yes, I had a close friend who I found out was giving quotes to a journalist from information I had told them. There’s very few people I would talk to anything private about, no matter how small.

How would that be of any interest? That would just be naming a celebrity.
