My sibling is a celebrity AMA

I won’t be saying who they are.

I recently spoke to a friend about it who
had lots of questions which lead to an interesting conversation, things I’d never said or thought about before.

When I was younger I used to feel incredibly jealous of them and had a very short and unsuccessful attempt at creating my own fame.

Now I’m older with my own dc and have seen the effects up close I definitely think the negatives out way the positives and it’s not something I would ever want for my children.

Having a boring day Sophie? Should have gone to Ibiza with her....

@zedtree could you at least say which area your sibling is known for being in? So far, all you’ve told us is about the areas they’re not in. It just makes everything you’re saying very hard to believe and quite pointless.

They haven’t just remained in one specific field, they’ve done a few different things.
It would be fair to say they were known for being in television.

Oh interesting. So it IS KP then.

She didn't go there did she?

poodlemum01 · Today 14:24

Does your sibling's name your name begin with a K?

zedtree · Today 14:27

Imdunfer · Today 14:11

Have you ever used their celebrity to get something you want or make something you want happen?

Not that I can think of, when I’ve been with them I’ve been given special treatment just for being with them but never without them and I’ve never asked for it

Thanks, I appreciate you answering my question. Please can I also ask you - how long has your sibling been in the public eye for? Has your sibling ever done anything that your family has disapproved of or been disappointed by? Has the sibling ever made you/your family sign NDAs?

Dear lord, can no-one think of a question that may be even vaguely interesting in its own right for @zedtree???

Here are some examples of who their sibling could be (but definitely isn't). There's a pretty wide spread of 'celebrities' most UK people would recognise without being an actor or singer 🙄

It isn't: Dermott O'Leary, Jamie Oliver, Will Carling, Chris Evans, Jimmy Carr. It's also not Fearne Cotton, Davina McCall, Rebecca Addlington, Sarah Millican, or Katie bloody Price.

Anyway!

My questions for AMA that isn't deadly boring or only aimed at outing who I am/they are:

  1. What was the car that was not sufficiently flash for them to get into? (this one made me chuckle ;)
  2. Is there a venue for a family get together they have flat out refused to consider (eg Harvester, Butlins, Peppa Pig World etc)?
  3. What has been the most annoyingly 'sleb throwaway comment they've made to you about something completely everyday without even registering what they were doing? (eg something in your fridge or piece of jewellery or where you are taking your immediate family on holiday)

Can anyone else help get the AMA back on track with some vaguely entertaining questions which aren't targeted at outing the individual?!?

-I can’t remember the specific car as it was a long time ago but it was a car that somebody who was working for them at the time owned.
-Not really, they do decline family events if it’s not for them for whatever reason and they are sometimes just not invited to certain things if we know it wouldn’t work, more just because of the attention than them being to good for that certain place
-Probably something to do with general life admin that I have been stressed about but they have never had to do themselves so didn’t appreciate the stress. They also waste and throw away a lot which I find difficult.

I'm a great-grandchild of a prominent wartime leader. I won't reveal who, especially as I'm on my way to church - ill though I may be.

Many have tried to discern my ancestry, with nary a hit. "Ler" is the infinitive form of the verb meaning "to read" in Portuguese, something else they don't know.

Anyway, I've lived in Australia for ages now, content amongst the roos. "E velt happy here", they used to say about my father who brought us all down under.

Why aren't you more angry about them losing custody of the kids?

Over 20 years.
Yes, both in private and in public which is obviously harder.
Yes, people who have work for them eg cleaners, drivers etc would be asked to.

Are they funny? Would they be a good laugh down the pub?

This was my question yesterday - don't think it was answered.

Yes I think so, they are very likeable and have lots of interesting stories.

I have so many questions because I'm so nosy 😟

How close are you?
Do you keep in contact often? Do you see eachother a lot?
Are they a good sibling? Were they good whilst you were growing up?
Do you fight? Have you had any big memorable arguments? Over what things do you guys clash??
Do you have any favourite memories/experiences together?

HelpMeGetThrough · Today 14:54

Is it Boaty McBoatface?

Ferguson0909 · Today 14:55

I hope you can answer this without outing them. But how did they get to become a celebrity in terms of career path? Do they have a special talent for example?

did they always want celebrity and fame and go chasing after that?

TwisterSpice · Today 14:58

@zedtreewhen were they at the peak of their career?

BeanQuisine · Today 14:59

Is your sibling currently in HMP Channings Wood for sex offences?

shihtzuu · Today 15:00

What do you think your parents "got right" when it came to raising you both?

adverteasing · Today 15:01

Somebody asked if you'd ever been tempted to correct lies about your sibling made online etc. Have you ever read a fib made by your sibling, and if so did you say or do anything about it.

(I'm enjoying this AMA and the 'leading' questions by some people are quite annoying!).

I think you mentioned your sibling is not well known outside the UK - could you tell us a bit about why that is? Did they prioritise becoming well known in the UK rather than elsewhere?

I think you also mentioned them trying to break America and get better known there - what was that like for them?

Pinkgorilla101 · Today 15:04

This is a really interesting thread. I have some questions about when you were all younger. Did they always want to be famous. I am thinking maybe they are a middle child who wanted more attention?
Did you want to be famous because you loved, as a teenager, the attention they got? What made you stop trying to be famous? Did your other sibling try to go down the same route?
I can understand sports personalities becoming famous as it goes with the job but I can’t imagine wanting to be famous for the sake of it and am interested to know more.

adverteasing · Today 15:06

This is maybe too nosey, but do you know their rough net worth? I think I'd be tempted to google that if it were my sibling. I looked up what they paid for their house Blush

Thank you. Have you ever had the chance to see behind the scenes of the TV programmes your sibling appears in? If so, is there anything that surprised you?

Would being a TV celebrity’s sibling open doors for you, e.g. if you wanted to work as a TV researcher, production assistant or any other backstage role, could your sibling get you your first job?
