I do not think that is in doubt .... the unfortunate spin- off is resentment against benefits claimants who are responsible people who have fallen on hard times.

I actually don’t think this is bad, this isn’t someone who is lazy - a single parent who work PT and studies. That’s not a bad situation at all ?!

As for having a cleaner whilst on UC - why is that wrong ? The home will be clean for the dc and it’s employing someone so good for the economy. You don’t have to justify what you spend every penny of UC on, a cleaner is allowed !

I was a solicitor. If you are not chasing a huge salary there are jobs, some part time. You can do criminal defence part time, though you would have out of hour’s commitments. I had som colleagues who just used to do magistrates courts trials, freelance. There are still local authority jobs where a law degree helps, and the civil service. You seem to cope really well with significant challenges, OP, hope all goes well for you .

tbf I wouldn't want my kid at a school that thought it would judge based on bedroom numbers. obv the parents and managed to raise a bright child up until that point despite being inadequate parent's in the schools view

Do you have children to fill an emotional hole? It’s not possible to have 7 kids without some of those kids experiencing various degrees of childhood emotional neglect.

Sorry, completely disagree. The amount OP gets demonstrates a welfare system that rewards irresponsibility vs hard work.

It’s ridiculous that people working 3x more hours who can’t make ends meet get no or little help and some, some months can’t afford after paying full bills and basic living costs, basic cleaning products let alone staff.

For me it’s not jealousy at all I can’t imagine anything worse than being parent to 7 kids even with a partner . It’s more like just dismay and disappointment that someone can plan something like this so irresponsibly and rely on the taxpayer to fund the tab for their poor decisions .
