Why on earth do you think that?

I’d give that post the award for most bonkers 😜 on this thread.

SorrellNightwind · 26/07/2026 11:50

I think the main question for me is why have so many children?

You can't support them without external help. It doesn't matter really how much you get to me to be honest, I just can't fathom why you would keep churning out more and more. You're not stupid, you're doing a degree.

So why have more and more?

You said you're too old to have more, but based on (rough memory from what I think you said) you were 19 with first one who is now 17, so you're not yet 40.

Why do you think you are too old? Are you going to be using birth control? Are you going to be (can't think of a way to say this without sounding massively judgey) more choosy about partners in future?

sparrowhawkhere · 26/07/2026 11:50

I had 2 because I wanted to give my attention to 2 children, to give them different experiences and have time to work and build a secure future for them.
Why did you continue to have children knowing the dads weren’t involved? Why the need to have more and not just focus on providing the best life you can for your first children?

WorldCupSadness · 26/07/2026 11:50

SmellyNelliey · 26/07/2026 11:45

Oh op having read the thread i feel your trying your best with 7 children working and trying to get a better education as well as breast feeding! This cannot be easy.
People seem to get high and mighty when it comes to uc and other benefits when in reality nobody actually knows when they might fall on hard times.
Benefits have been around for sometime and even as a child myself there was milk tokens, child benefit and child tax credits.
Im a mother of 5 children 12,10,7,6 and 11months luckily ive a DH and im a SAHM (another thing heavily judged on here) my children are also home educated! We dont claim any benefit but also understand if my partner lost his job that one day that could well be us!(I cannot expose his line of work due to his contact )
Op what i'd like to know is what is your favourite thing to do together all 8 of you?

We rarely all get together but when we can have a laugh about something, it's just amazing. I laugh so loudly 😂

Why on earth do you think that?

Why on earth wouldn’t I think that? You’ve gotta be a special sort of stupid to repeatedly make the same mistakes that harm children over and over again.

That or you just don’t care, one of the two.

Her kids say she’s a good mum? And? Plenty of young kids and teens say that because they’re wired too, and they know no different.

So yeah, it’s either stupidity or selfishness. My bets on the former.

If you must know I'm absolutely terrified of sex now. Or any kind of intimacy. The rape has had a massive effect on me

Ok then.

It might be quite difficult for the older ones to cook a variety of meals to cater for all the children’s preferences. The older children have been through so much upheaval, I’d be reluctant to put anymore pressure on them.

That’s what I feel. Those older children have been through no dad, different relationships, new siblings, limited money and yet still more siblings. Why weren’t they enough?

Watchoutfortheslowaraf · 26/07/2026 11:59

I’ll try again with my questions- what do you think the impact has been on your older children? The lack of consistency and all the upheaval of your multiple relationships and baby after baby must have been very hard on them. How do you feel they are impacted and is it possible to support them when you have so many children with various needs that take up your time? Did you consider the older children and the impact on them every time you got into a new relationship or had a new baby?

PenelopePinkerton · 26/07/2026 12:01

4k in benefits takes the piss. I had to work my ass off to earn that when my kids were little.

Why are you finding it hilarious that taxpayers are subsidising you and the deadbeat dads with £4 k a month or are you just being goady?

She’s already said this includes rent which is probably a big percentage of the UC and just because she had as a lot of children doesn’t mean they should go without. And she works. Which is admirable

LumpyandBumps · 26/07/2026 12:03

Genuinely what’s your solution then? Childhood live in poverty to punish their mothers? That we don’t have a net to help people who need it? People are quite focused on her income not realising the Dads can stop paying the CMS on a whim, the OP is working & is aiming for a career. What more do you demand of her?

We need a system which doesn't allow the dads to stop paying on a whim.

In France and Italy they are paying women to have babies.

Because it's easier without a dad involved

It IS easier with the dad(s) around if you choose the right sort of men, you know the ones who parent and pay for half of everything…..

RubyQueues · 26/07/2026 12:13

MumOfTwoLittleOnes24 · 26/07/2026 10:26

Op, if everything you have said is true and not a rage-baiting windup post then let’s take a look at these numbers:

£14000 yearly gross salary (you’ll receive every penny of this minus your contributions in income tax & NI contributions of approximately £400 per year)

£13200 yearly CMS payments (not taxed)

£48000 yearly (direct net benefits from UK government that are not subject to tax or NI deductions)

So that gives you approximately £6300 a month income.

For comparison, a person would have to earn exactly £118,531 to have a take home pay of £6300 per month after tax & NI.

Further to that, your children will (likely) get a range of other benefits as a result of your low gross salary:

Free school meals

Help towards school uniform, extra curricular activities, school trips

Help towards childcare costs

Can you not comprehend how disgusted people are by this? The welfare state was set up to provide a safety net for everyone.

Not this.

This is grotesque.

Edited

This!!!

I am absolutely disgusted that you take home more in a month than my family, with my (highly-trained, qualified) husband’s 6-figure salary.

we have one child because that’s all we can afford, we get ZERO child benefit, free childcare hours, absolutely nothing. My husband pays tax on EVERY SINGLE PENNY HE EARNS so that you can have SEVEN children with a multitude of unsuitable men (seriously, just get the implant, it’s free!) and have your lifestyle funded by the state. just because you’re also working extremely part time (can’t go over those 16 hours for UC!) and studying (more debt) doesn’t make you anymore worthy.

we are desperate for just a second child, just one more. Because of the welfare state in this country we can’t afford it. How is this morally right?!!
