I do love my current job, so I'm trying not to get too anxious about it, as I'm an anxious person in general

Someone who is anxious does not go through life as you have done.

That's not really laughter?

What is that then? ??? >>>> 😅

Thanks for that, Dr. Tina...

You said pensioners. Perhaps clarify...not all pensioners.

God I’m so tired of this sort of derail. 🥱🥱🥱 We get it you paid some tax. People don’t have to clarify when they are generalising. How people who argue so much about minutiae ever got good jobs to allegedly pay so much tax, God only knows!

Oppositesituation · 25/07/2026 14:42

Why do some people think that every relationship, no matter how short, has to result in a pregnancy?

Tinahowls · 25/07/2026 14:42

WorldCupSadness · 25/07/2026 14:41

You Would be better off researching what the heck you’re going to do with the degree that you have spanked thousands on - but have no idea what you’re planning to do with it.

All very well but expecting the state to feed, clothe and house you for having these children is a bit rich. In the olden days you’d starve literally with no benefits, be in the poor house or like my nana, her elder daughter was put in children’s homes and fostered out by her (my nana). The father being an ex criminal and his family in the USA meant he and them were no use to help out, my nana is British.

Yes, I think that in the last 30 years a lot of education has happened; very large families and teen pregnancies have reduced. It's rarer to have as many as 7 children, especially on your own. I'm just trying to work out why, and I think it's probably that some women feel validated by having babies.

You started it. I'm replying, so it's not a "derail".
Stick to the woman with 7 kids.
🥱 🥱 🥱

basketsmash · 25/07/2026 14:43

@CorinthianaI said most, why have you confused most with all? 😆

Tinahowls · 25/07/2026 14:43

It Is sad you have no idea how your older children feel about the men that have swept in and out of their lives and all the upheaval they have endured over the years.

fuggetaboutit · 25/07/2026 14:44

WorldCupSadness · 25/07/2026 13:51

Yep. People can't help themselves. But they probably wouldn't manage a day in my shoes!

Honestly- i'm judging you and I have 5 children, with my husband.

I am the eldest of more children than you have, and I am no contact with my parents. My childhood was robbed from me, and I had more stability than what your children have and it still wasn't good enough.

Your children are the ones who suffer from your poor life choices. Its not good enough. There's not much you can do about it now, but you will see the fall out in years to come and hopefully you will take responsibility for your actions- unlike my parents.

Did you come from a large family yourself?

basketsmash · 25/07/2026 14:46

@Corinthianayou need to take a step back or at the very least read posts correctly rather than misquoting. I am also not @Darragon

Excellent points.

Not surprised you name changed to start this thread @WorldCupSadness

I can’t even begin to imagine some of the threads you would have started over the years 😦

OP, there are lots of very judgy posts on her and lots of assumptions, but honestly you do you. Sounds like you're working towards getting your children a good life. If you lived in a 5 bedroom mansion paid for with family wealth then there would be very different set of replies on here.

Well the family wealth would at least have meant the rest of us aren’t paying for it…..

basketsmash · 25/07/2026 14:47

my father was 1 of 8, not unusual in his country at the time. They all have a great relationship and became successful adults although this was easier in those days.

Indeed.

Hippeedippeemee · 25/07/2026 14:48

Aww OP, well done for budgeting so well! Everything is so expensive nowadays.

In an ideal world I'd love another, 7 sounds like beautiful chaos!

Whosthetabbynow · 25/07/2026 14:49

Tinahowls · 25/07/2026 14:39

Well in that case it would have been whether or not they passed the 11 plus and nothing else

You’re gonna have to trust me on this one. It was early 90s so things were different then.

And I know plenty of people protecting their dcs inheritance & trying to circumnavigate future taxes and care costs.

I am in a grammar county

and I will say that it’s not unheard of for a parent to claim xyz about why their child isn’t going to grammar school when in actual fact the reason is… they failed the 11 plus
