Are a lot of married (to women) men having sex with other men secretly?
Are they really having unprotected sex? This seems crazy.
Or are they catching things from oral sex?

My "local" tut tutted and said you shouldn't do that as it's not good for you long term. So I just go to online pharmacies.

Have you looked into L-lysine in addition? There's evidence that it may be helpful in suppressing herpes outbreaks, and might be worth investigating for you.

Twilightstarbright · 16/02/2026 09:49

I need contraceptive advice and not sure where to go for help! I can go privately if needed. My local sexual health clinic doesn’t seem to offer appointments to people like me- it’s all young people or high risk groups.

Im not allowed oestrogen, any foreign devices (coils/implants), the mini pill makes me bleed non stop. I’ve been on Depo provera for years but as I’m in my early 40s the GP isn’t keen but sits and looks blank when I ask for an alternative.

I’m on some heavy duty medication I’m not allowed to get pregnant on and my consultant won’t prescribe unless I’m on a reliable form of contraception (aka not condoms).

Where can I go for advice?

Been with the same partner for 20 years.

I won't get into a trans debate with anyone. I have my views and I can't be bothered to argue against them.

When you say cases of HIV are rising amongst heterosexual women does this include trans womenOr would they be recorded as men who have sex with men in the statistics?

Thanks, yes and I find it has the happy side effects of making my skin look a bit nicer!

I'd recommend asking your GP about getting your tubes tied, honestly, if surgery is something you can tolerate and you don't plan on conceiving, (and it seems like you don't).

I take it too, for herpes on my lip, and I've found it seems to work really well. I don't think my skin looks nicer though, sadly 😅

It’s madness! Considering the information on here could really protect women and girls.

Calling prep 100% effective is a lie and misleading. Calling sex workers the safest people to have sex with is a lie and misleading. Saying trans women never hurt women or girls is a lie and misleading. How does lying and misleading protect women and girls?

Just waiting for someone to come along and tell you off for sharing a patient's medical information on the internet even though it's entirely anonymous...

It’s bad form though, isn’t it?

pontipinemum · 16/02/2026 09:58

@Hereandthereandeverywhere in general do you think people are better at looking after their sexual health? When I was at uni, 20 years ago nearly, I was big in the Student Union. We were constantly trying to get students to take it seriously.

I've been tested in Ireland, England, Scotland and Australia. Very possibly could be the timeline but Ireland was the worst, like a smear with the beak thing. England was examination. Scotland and Australia I did the swabs myself.

Even now I some what feel like I have had a lot of tests and maybe people would judge me? But anytime I have moved from pills + condom to just pill with a boyfriend I have been tested.

nolongersurprised · 16/02/2026 10:02

I don’t think amas are a great idea when you’re sharing other people’s confidential medical information.

You can absolutely go away with this view. I wish you all the best but YOU are the problem. The problem with men is men. Not trans women. Show me any women who has felt intimated or has been assaulted by a trans woman compared tomorrow a cis man

Because cis women don't tend to go with trans men.

Female assigned at birth and identifies.as being female

This is cultish speak. No one is "assigned" female at birth. It's observed.

How does one "identify" as a female. I want to know if I have my identify right.

Umm.... I know personally at least half a dozen women who've lost jobs, work, and reputations from accusations by trans-identified men. I know more generally of women harassed, stalked & threatened by trans-identified men, and I've had the Twitter death threats myself. So yes, here's a woman who's felt intimidated by a trans-identified man.

And trans-identified men commit sexual assault aainst women at the same rate as men, because they are men.

I've been extremely intimidated by a man, in a women's toilet, who told me he was a woman. You must be extremely naive if you don't know what's going on with these AGP men.

Don't be ridiculous. All the OP has shared - at least in the post I referred to - is basically statistics/data. We don't even know which area of the country they're based in.

ThatCyanCat · 16/02/2026 10:11

Can you explain why you claim to be totally non judgemental while being judgemental towards women who dislike the term "cis" and won't be convinced that sex is "assigned" or that women can have penises?

Do you think this kind of dishonesty and accusatory manner ("YOU are the problem") will put some women off accessing the service because it makes it seem untrustworthy and politicised?

Also, how do you know that sex workers take two weeks off work when diagnosed with an infection? How are they regulated?

Twilightstarbright · 16/02/2026 10:14

@OtterlyAstounding I think I should look into it really. DS is 10 and due to the health conditions a second child sadly wasn’t possible and I need to accept it’s not on the cards for me.

HectorPlasm · 16/02/2026 10:16

What's an 'undeserved community'?

Oh, I'm so sorry that things didn't work out the way you wanted, Twilight. That's always really hard to accept, especially if you're considering taking a big step like tubal ligation ❤ It feels so final. But maybe it can be a new step forward into freedom from depo provera! I hope that you can find a solution that works for you, whatever it is!

What's an 'undeserved community'?

Typo for "under-served".
Modern lefty language for a poor working class area.
Or possibly an area with a high ethnic minority population who generally don't access available public services.

Edited

Trans women are not heterosexual women, on account of their not being women.

I'm wondering if it is a typo and OP meant "underrepresented"

HectorPlasm · 16/02/2026 10:16

What's an 'undeserved community'?

Communities who dont regularly attend services. So, homeless people, migrants, ethnic groups, domestic violence survivors, those from deprived areas, for example
