I was 93kg when I started and want to be 60kg eventually. I do have a health condition, but I talked with my GP before I started this plan, and apparently, because my BMI was “only 33.8” (his words) I didn’t qualify for anything on the NHS (I would have needed to be 34 I think he said). After a frustrating and fruitless discussion when he said I was too old to lose the weight, I wasn’t that overweight anyway and should just wait 3 or 4 years and see if the injections would become cheaper, I realised I was on my own, and asked about this type of plan. He said it was worth a try if I felt it suited me, and to just let him know how I got on. Really supportive…🙄
I live on my own, so that makes it easier in practical terms, as I’m not having to prepare or see food with other people. I did have my sons round for lunch last weekend, and just had a salad - we were talking a lot, so I don’t think they particularly noticed.
I do expect the rate that I lose the weight will decrease at some point, but I think for me, seeing results and feeling better are very motivating. I’m also finding it easier to be active again, and that makes such a difference, both physically and mentally. Cutting the cravings for bread (my particular weakness) is a relief and I hope that continues.
You do have to be determined to see it through, but for me it’s been a huge turnaround. If you decide to do this, I hope you find it suits you too - good luck!
