I am scared of taking HRT for that reason though 🙈 and I really think I'd benefit from taking it...

Bigtitsbettyforgotherpassword · 13/05/2024 08:04

@Madagascary is taking no shit on the big boob running thread 🤣

I am 32H and very keen for a reduction but as a pre-menopausal early 40s concerned that they might grow again during menopause. Has anyone had that after having a reduction?

I did about that age and they have gone up slightly since then. From D to E cup. But honestly they are still a million times better than previous and so zero regrets. I do wish they'd done a little smaller but he said that was not possible due to placement of blood vessels to the nipple. The scars faded amazingly fast and compared to my skin today at 52 I'm glad I did it earlier as now just a straightforward scar takes ages to heal

I asked my GP yesterday whether the NHS might give me a reduction. She said no chance. I’m 63, the consult was about blood pressure and breathlessness. Usual recommendation to lose weight and do more exercise. I am reasonably fit, but I exercise less because sometimes I just can’t be bothered with double bra-ing or it’s just awkward / uncomfortable. Swimsuits cost a fortune and are transparent within a few months.

I’m a 32JJ. Not particularly small anywhere else (size 12/14 in trousers) just small ribs I think.

Reading so many of you saying you are exercising more, is it worth another try do you think? Different doctor maybe?

Edited

You can look at your local ICB guidelines for reductions. They differ from place to place.
Just Google and find. In one of the London ICB it is BMI less then 27, over a J cup and at least 1 year of documented problems due to breast size and I think evidence that other treatment like physio didn't work.
Waiting times of course will be another factor!

Madagascary · 13/05/2024 10:18

Lol. Imagine having implants to an E

@countrytweed whst people don’t get is it’s not the size although obv that a thin

its the lift. Went to Tesco without a bra the other day

OP posts:
countrytweed · 13/05/2024 10:42

@Madagascary Yes to the lift! Still blows my mind everyday that I can look down and see my nipples (without looking in a mirror) 😂

countrytweed · 13/05/2024 10:44

@CatrinVennastin Good luck!! You'll be so happy, guaranteed 😘

GerbilsForever24 · 13/05/2024 11:36

In light of the fact that mine weren't reduced enough and I've subsequently got a lot fatter, I don't have quite the lift I'd like. BUT... yes, I completely agree. I'm now a 38 FF and I guarantee that compared to anyone else of the same size, mine are a LOT perkier. And if I could lose 10kg, I have no doubt they'd go back to previousl level of perkiness. It's only very recently that I started to fail the pencil test which I suspect is related also to age/peri menopause as I haven't really gained any notable weight in the last 5 years.

SareBear87 · 13/05/2024 11:45

Gosh this thread is amazing!

I wear a 34K and I'd love to go down to a F or G cup! I'm considering having them done but I think I'll be told to hold off for a few more years (currently 36). More than happy to pay private prices for FREEDOM!!!

starsinyourpies · 13/05/2024 19:06

@Keepthosenamesgoing thank you! I am very keen to go for it.

Mezzaninemel · 13/05/2024 21:06

@SareBear87 I don’t think you would be told to wait. I lot of people have said they wish they’d had a reduction years earlier.

Madagascary · 14/05/2024 11:30

@CatrinVennastin how are you

Why would you be told to wait? THis feels like the perfect time - while you're still young enough to do all the fitness and exercising that you need to be doing to stay healthy long term ad to prevent the long term back problems that come with large breasts.

I had mine done in early 20s. Needless to say, breastfeeding didn't go so well for me. I was at the BF clinic one day and some idiot woman told me that I must just keep trying because the surgery wouldn't have impacted my ability ot breastfeed and I just have to stay committed... and in the next sentence told me that her dd wanted one but she'd told her to wait until after children.

There's always some reason someone will tell you to wait. They're all bollocks (except for teenagers who haven't finished growing). You do it whenever you feel it is right.

There’s a big boob running thread … 😆 Anyhow, yes, hope all recent op people are well, esp @RedWineIsFine … do let us know.

Timing …. it’s such an individual thing. I wanted mine done from a very young age, but am totally happy that I was 53 when I actually did it.

Coming up to the 10 month mark & still seeing subtle changes & settling. Scars are good, stretchy crop tops are a dream, every day that I’m not strapping into a tight underwire bra is a win. Very happy.

CatrinVennastin · 15/05/2024 05:17

I’m done!!!!

haven’t actually seen them yet but the difference is staggering. Feel like I can breathe easier.

Not in much pain so far , it’s been ok with the cocodomal.

struggling to sleep on my back but using my big pillow and can kind of wedge myself with my legs sideways!

my surgeon and her team were fabulous. I struggled to come round from the anaesthetic and to be honest was tripping like I was back in ‘95 for a couple
of hours afterwards…

So thank you everyone for all the advice and support over these past few months. Much appreciated xx

Madagascary · 15/05/2024 06:59

@CatrinVennastin how much did they take off? Kg

OP posts:
Boopear · 15/05/2024 07:08

I have a question! How strict were they on the BMI criteria? This would be for a private op. I’m just below BMI. 30. Is it pretty much always BMI 28 and below? Ta!

RedWineIsFine · 15/05/2024 07:26

Thank you @Singletrackmind I'm still here, just been a crazy couple of weeks. I had a haematoma so emergency surgery and ended up back in a couple of times but home and healing now. I keep having moments where I think they're huge but then I look at before and after photos and wow, what a crazy difference. I'm only 2wpo today so know there's changes to come yet (I feel so bloated which is partially down to being sedentary). Sorry I've been quiet, it's taken some getting my head round with complications and GCSEs have been the priority in this household too, bad timing on my part! Hope everyone else is doing great.

Summerdew · 15/05/2024 08:51

Glad you’re heading up @RedWineIsFine and not bad timing, think of yourself as a calm quiet area in the madness of stress of GCSEs, a peaceful haven away from them.

Singletrackmind · 15/05/2024 09:25

@RedWineIsFine good news! It’s A LOT in the first few days esp when you’ve had complications. Take it easy & also it’s so so early in terms of swelling etc … if you look back at the others threads I think I said at least 4 months for mine to settle and as above still subtle changes now at 10.

@CatrinVennastin yay!!!

CatrinVennastin · 15/05/2024 11:58

@Madagascary i’m not sure as was pretty out of it when the surgeon came to see me afterwards. Will find out at my follow up on Monday.

My bmi was higher than 28. I don’t recall the surgeon / anaesthetist mentioning it. I suppose if someone is morbidly obese, it would be a factor.

CoolShoeshine · 15/05/2024 16:24

@Boopear i was over 30 bmi and it wasn’t a concern to the surgeon.
