BMI is a crap measurement when you have heavy boobs! The first time my BMI has been under that magic number was post op. I look like I've lost a hell of a lot more weight than I have though even though I'm bloated, just because things fit right and don't hang off my chest.

It'll be interesting to see how they change the next few months, hopefully not negatively as I quite like them even in their current bruised state, last time they were this size I was about 13!

Madagascary · 15/05/2024 20:54

My anaesthetisy told me how much easier and better it was when someone was a normal weight. He made a certain point of saying this / that the whole pre-op situation was far more straightforward.

Sorry to burst the bubble guys.

@RedWineIsFine have you noticed that suddenly you’ve got a chest where you can put a necklace

have you done the crossing your arms thing?

OP posts:
RedWineIsFine · 15/05/2024 21:30

@Madagascary ooh long necklaces and wearing lanyards without just having a work pass on my chest will be an option now won't they?
What do I need to do with crossing my arms? I'm still a bit sore at the sides to manage to cross them properly yet, but I used to spend most of my time with them folded to hide behind/stop the movement when walking.

RedWineIsFine · 15/05/2024 21:38

Oh I realise what you mean now, when I cross my arms now they're on my stomach not on the end of my boobs!

Madagascary · 15/05/2024 21:43

You will go to cross your arms and then suddenly realise that you have to do in a different place

What I realised is my daughter had a mid-riff. Bloody amazinv!

This 🙌… it’s all of the little things 😀

UPDATES REQUIRED **

my update is that I’ve been buying a dress for my son‘s wedding this July and could get one with a pretty V-neck and tiny little buttons and buy it in the size that I am rather than the size that I am not

OP posts:
RedWineIsFine · 17/05/2024 08:34

@Madagascary you mean you can get a dress that's not 3 sizes bigger than your waist/shoulders need? I bet darts are in the right place too. You're living the dream!

RedWineIsFine · 17/05/2024 18:51

Rather overdid it yesterday so had a lazy day today, most exercise was a quick nip to the supermarket (DH driving the car and the trolley), pleased to report wine drinking unaffected.
Has anyone decided to just chuck out most of their clothes post op? I have so much I only own because it would fit or I could hide in it, the downside is I don't know how else to dress!

CatrinVennastin · 19/05/2024 17:29

5 days post op here and doing ok. Still very tired and have slept a lot but finding I only need painkillers at night and even then it’s not sore, just a bit achy.

my wide boobs mean my incisions go further round so feel a bit of pulling there at times.

still in the compression bra but popped a vest top over the top. think I was probably 19 the last time I wore a vest top!

RedWineIsFine · 20/05/2024 11:56

@CatrinVennastin good to hear you're doing well, try not to take it easy, I've discovered the first couple of weeks can be a rollercoaster of good and bad days. But great news on the vest, I can't wait to wear them this summer, no super wide straps, don't know if my shoulder grooves will ever go now though.

RedWineIsFine · 20/05/2024 13:02

That's try to take it easy, and beware of the brain fog that's seems to have stopped me making sense!

Madagascary · 21/05/2024 02:48

Yy. Don’t think the grooves do

Can I please ask you wise ladies for some advice? I'm 3 months post-op... loving the small(er) boob life, ecstatic with results etc. Last year (age 42) I started having awful perimenopausal symptoms, mostly mood-related, which I had managed to improve with some lifestyle changes. But recently they're creeping back and last yr I had chatted to my GP about giving HRT a try but decided to delay until post op (which surgeon had recommended). Now I'm terrified of all the stories of HRT increasing breast size... because I love the size they are now! But I also don't want to be a weepy mess 🙃 Does anyone have any experience with this?

GerbilsForever24 · 22/05/2024 10:07

My surgery was in my 20s. I have been on HRT for a year and I have not noticed any change in my breast size. The only change in my breasts generally is that they are a tiny bit more saggy than they were a few years ago. Bear in mind however that between surgery and starting HRT I had 2 children and gained quite a bit of weight so my breasts are already bigger than they were.

countrytweed · 22/05/2024 12:05

@GerbilsForever24 That's encouraging you've not noticed a change since starting HRT!

RedWineIsFine · 22/05/2024 12:34

@countrytweed I'm a little worried about this too, but if they're going to grow, if rather they did it from the post op point rather than the size they were before as it would have killed me.

countrytweed · 22/05/2024 14:12

@RedWineIsFine Yes that's very true!!

GerbilsForever24 · 26/05/2024 22:59

@countrytweed @RedWineIsFine yes. Every now and again I get a bit annoyed that they are big. Then I remind myself that if I hadn't had the surgery... well, the idea is horrifying.

nicnoo99 · 12/06/2024 07:24

Thank you for this thread ladies, I've read all three threads (has taken about a month!), and it's all been so helpful. I've taken loads of screenshots.

I'm booked to have my surgery in September (I will have just turned 40), having wanted it since I was about 20. I'm excited but also nervous.

I can't quite wrap my head around what it might be like afterwards - I've never had small boobs, so it's hard to imagine....

Lauraellferg · 14/06/2024 11:01

Hi ladies! How’s everyone doing? Hope all recent surgery’s are healing well and pleased with results!! :)

I’ve just had my 3 month check, can’t believe how much they’ve changed in that time! Definitely settled and not so boxy!!

2 days after my check up I noticed some pain in the left one along the scar and I have an infection! Did anyone else have this that long after surgery? On antibiotics so hoping to get rid of it asap! My panicky brain is just thinking the worst if it gets worse and opens up the scar! 🫣🫣🫣

Singletrackmind · 16/06/2024 16:18

Hey everyone, nice to see updates! I hope to that all more the recent op ladies are doing well. @Lauraellferg don't panic ... I didn't have any healing issues, but it's not uncommon, and generally it's when you start to think, it's all fine any maybe overdo it a bit. Just take it steady and you'll be right. That 'boxy' thing lasted AGES for me ... I didn't really relax about them 'settling until about 6 - 7 months and even now at nearly 11 month I can still see subtle changes in terms of them just looking and feeling more natural.

@nicnoo99 .. there has to be some sort of medal for getting through all the threads....!!!! 😁Excited for you ... the time will go really quickly and you'll be done before you know it ... honestly you'll have read it loads, but it is without a doubt one of the best things you'll ever do for yourself!

Madagascary · 16/06/2024 16:45

agree well done everybody! Every single day I put my bra on I’m pleased I had it done and it must be 18 months by now
